    This the answer and explanation I've been looking for, I wonder what will happen to the diagram if the temperature double in isothermic process. Now I can sleep, thank you sir ❤

    I don't understand how after expansion the pressure decreases? Shouldn't the pressure always equalize with the atmosphere because other wise the piston will either go up or down?

    Thank you sir for this wonderful lecture. I really enjoyed watching it. I've a small doubt. How can heat source does work on piston without increasing kinetic energy of gas molecules ? Work can only be done by the gas molecules when they collide with each other and with container walls then kinetic energy will be transferred from one molecule to other but this can happen only if we heat the container. When we heat the container it is thus obvious that kinetic energy of the molecules will increase and then they do work on the piston? In isothermal process when there is no temperature difference how can there be heat transfer ?

      Just like when you learned calculus for the first time, you need to imagine the system and surroundings as differing in temperature by a very small (differential) amount. and also the piston is displaced by a differential amount. in real life, there is no such thing as an isothermal process. that is why this class is so confusing.

    I don't understand how p*V stays constant in the example if the Volume increases. Wouldn't the pressure have to sink? and isn't in reality the opposite the case?
    As I understand the example by increasing the temp we increase the inner pressure which pushes the piston up, thus increasing the Volume, with the pressure either staying same or increasing too.

    • @maxmalakjan6137
      @maxmalakjan6137 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      and with both volume and pressure increasing the product can't stay a constant. The pressure would have to sink while the volume is rising

    Hi, thank you for your video. I can not understand basic thing - why when you apply heat, temperature remains the same? How it is possible? This basic thing does not clear for me. Thank you.

    • @the._.nabihouse
      @the._.nabihouse ปีที่แล้ว

      When heat is supplied, a lot of it is used to make and break bonds (break if heat is absorbed and make if heat is removed). Thus temperature does not change immediately and it remains constant for a while.

    • @MightyCanary
      @MightyCanary 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hopefully you worked this out by now (5 months late) but in case you haven't/ if anyone else thinks this. It's just a simple re-arrange of the E=Q+W formula for if E = 0
      Q + W = 0 (subtract W from both sides to get Q on it's own)
      Q + W - W= 0 - W (then just simplify W-W = 0)
      to end with Q=-W

    • @evanmaratas5565
      @evanmaratas5565 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      some people consider change in internal energy as Q - W, where W as positive is work done by system, not work done onto system
