i think part of the reason is because pokemon music, especially battle music, loves the phrygian mode where there move half steps between chords/phrases just like that E->F progression does
Not technically 8 bit, but that doesn't stop this from being a banger cover. Well done! Great mix, synth and sample selection. I really enjoyed this :D
Big reason for why this sounds so good is because Polyphia(Or Tim atleast) writes the initial notes on a computer then learns how to play it on guitar. Really insane if you think about it.
That’s not how Tim writes the guitar. Tim writes the guitar on the guitar. He writes the other instruments that aren’t bass guitar or drums on a key editor of a digital audio workstation, so on a computer
@@Glen0cide he has shown in a tutorial on his channel that he will make a chord structure then throw it into the arpeggiator and learn it on guitar . He doesn’t do this for every song or even every part of a song but he has for some !
@@Glen0cide he showed that a lot of the initial thought process starts electronically/digitally. Not to say ALL their songs are constructed that way, just what he's shown.
@@IamZeus1100 I appreciate the points mentioned above, I didn't know about the thing about the arpeggiator, but as you said, its only for some parts of certain songs. Even if the idea for the basic structure of a song begins electronically, I think it's misleading to say as a blanket statement that he writes his guitar electronically and then learns it on guitar. For most of his guitar parts, all that cool and crazy embelishments that codify his particular style, they are conceived while playing on the guitar, even if he's following a chord structure that already exists and was conceived on the DAW. Do you guys think he writes all those weird harmonics and sweeps on a key editor first? There is no real equivalent of a guitar harmonic on a key editor inside the software. Sure he could use a separate plugin to get the sound, but the logistics would get annoying quickly, it's not practical for creativity. All that cool stuff is written on guitar.

This is like a soundtrack for a boss battle for a really hard 2D game
Dude it'd be so hype. All I could think while listening to this is that I NEED it as an actual boss fight
Sounds like some alien level, something like Contra's final level
With empty Mountain Dew bottles laying everywhere
This just proves how good of writing the song is that it can sound so good on the strangest sound fonts
ive never heard music genres be described as fonts but yes i agree
@@verchiel_8295 they mean soundfronts like vst which is sorta like fonts if but it just refers to the type virtual instrument being used

ngl, the farther it is from video game music the better it sounds translated to 8-bit
@@verchiel_8295 wait until they find out that Tim writes some if not most of his parts on piano
Holy crap this is well made, you really didn't miss even a single note or beat huh
In all seriousness though, this is really impressive. And it highlights just how good polyphia is at music composition.
Holy shit, I just saw, You made this in fucking FL STUDIO??!? HOW??

The Bossa nova half of this is SO GOOD!!!❤️🔥

Okay wtf, even in 8bit my brain still can't comprehend this from a musical pov
I wish I could transcribe music like this and have the tech know to take my favorite songs and transpose them into other styles etc. Awesome piece
Is this what it feels to finally beat the final boss at the final dungeon? DAMN!!!!!
Well now I want this game to exist.. very well done! I loved you put Scott’s lead, and then Tim’s, instead of simultaneously
Nice job man 👍👍

The second half is so pretty i love it
Why is this SO FUCKING COOL
Seriously dude, absolutely perfect job
I love the tone of the parts that are whistles, so ethereal. As a huge fan of ozric tentacles and polyphia, that second half is so slick !
These kinds of things are my favorite part about the internet. I’d never meet someone this talented at 8bit covers!
Found this today, have listened to it at least 10 times already. Amazing work.
“So you like to play Castlevania” is the first thing that came to mind for some reason.

The algorithm appears to be doing favours to smaller channels recently... I like it :)
