  • his is a short video showing how easy it is to incorporate LED lighting into ship models, or any type of project for that matter. A future video will show what this lighting will look like when installed within a model ship.
Bio: I started my "career" of crafting around 1st grade, when I made a funny car out of a cardboard toothpaste container with wheels also made from cardboard. I then "graduated" to cardboard versions of Star Wars x-wings, tie-fighters and sandcrawlers. The crafting bug bit me early!
Fragment from LED Lighting Ship Model video:
    Hi everyone,
I’ve been having a lot of fun with LED lighting recently, and have started to incorporate it into one of my model ship builds. I know it takes me a long time to post videos, and they’ve tended to be on the long side, so I’ve decided to break them up into smaller sections. Today I’m going to review the LED lighting that I’ll be using before I hide the wires within the model
I was able to purchase this LED lighting for $12 from Evandesigns.com. The great thing about this lighting is that as you can see, it modulates, and the particular light I chose is yellow, which replicates a candle or lantern flame, which is exactly what I wanted for my model. There is that there is zero soldering involved. It’s literally plug and play right out of the package.
Here it is under one of the gratings I’ll be installing on my model ship. If anyone is curious, I made these out of black walnut, and coated with tung oil. When the deck of my model is ready, this grating will cover the light I’ll have in the body of the hull, which you’ll see in a future video. I actually purchased two of these. One for the grating, and one for a lantern I’ll have in the back of the ship. The next video I post will show how I’m making the LED lantern.
That’s it for now. Thank you for watching, and as always, please post any comments questions below, and do please hit the “like” button! Incidentally, if you feel this video is too short in nature, please also let me know. I’m still trying to figure out how long these vids should be….
