Well make one colin did and its flying 🤣
make a trike instead. that way you can more easily control it(lean forward and backward for moving those directions, lean left and right for going left and right). this way you get a lot more lift and can add some leg and but protection aswel as some flaps to properly steer and proper landing legs to prevent breaking your propellors.
@@ted_van_loon Colin mentioned how the rotors need to go counter to each other to prevent an uncontrollable spin and he's right; you need a counter for each rotor, which would require an even numbers of rotors for that to work so even numbers only I'm afraid, unless you go the way of the helicopter and add a tail rotor.
Now... if he used jets with all that internalised... then yes, you could potentially use three "drive units"

This is actually really impressive. Airplane is an easy design but that is something else. You didn't just fly, you designed a new type of aircraft smd then flew it. Nice!

What you should do to make it more stable and controllable is put both of the engines at the same height, that way there's no variations in thrust like there were getting off the ground, the reasoning behind this is that if one engine is further away from the ground it'll have slightly less effective thrust than one closer to the ground. What you can also do is add a wider and longer handlebar so by tilting it with your body weight you can fly it like a drone and maybe add a twisty section in the middle so you can rotate midair, make the twisty section have resistance so it's able to keep control relatively easy and always have a little point in the dead center where you can feel a click and know that is the center position. Sweet project, maybe with some electric motors and some body panels it could be quieter and have that futuristic hoverbike look to it
Also don't forget to add a FMU to remove human brain from the feedback control loop and to achieve a more intuitive method of operation

If anything they'd possibly be less successful as being professionals they'd probably have to abide by a bunch of health and safety protocols and all kinds of autocratic red tape and such.

That's amazing my friend. I actually came up with something similar but just using a regular bicycle frame. I had the whole invention all written out with everything laid out according to a very detailed plan. But Davison Integration never got back to me on it, so it remains just another unfulfulled dream. I actually like yours better tho, and it seems more practical then what I was trying to do. Best of luck to you my friend.

@misa smith You don't really need to be an engineer to do alot of mundane, simpler tasks, even like this, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get actually qualified if you're doing critical work.

As an engineer in training, most of the trouble with making these is not that it's some tedious math that will tell you how to make it, it's that you have to do all this math to prove it works to get funding and approval.

My favorite thing about this horrifying contraption is that it has blade guards, but they just... don't actually cover the blades. The blades are just there, exposed. If you move your shin the wrong way you lose a foot.
Haha I think they are only there to protect the blades from the ground. They are not to protect you from the blades.
the only builder ive seen to actually put the blades underneath, some fancy technology and gyrostabilizers and a nice flight computer, that thing would almost fly itself lol
So a lot of people are eating there hats today lol, yes its a bit of a monster (think the camera angles make it look like my feet get closer than they actually do) but it flys and is not that unstable. Controlling it could be easier but for a first attempt i'm more than happy....one could say i smashed it haha.

2:23 the REAL miracle is that you haven't lost a limb in those blades! i mean jeez. add a small bit of paneling around the driver for protection. and a sturdy wire fence over the domes. under could use a small duct shield to prevent limbs flipping up into the blade. honestly you look damm lucky as this is more clips of fails then flight
