As a lifelong hockey fan, I've noticed that the only people who claim that ice skating is unmanly are the ones who cannot skate themselves. Learning to skate is a pretty painful experience.
I never considered it "unmanly" but it was just too white for me. Any sport that requires a mullet to play, im not gonna get in to..... but more power to those who do.
I remember the first time I ice skated. It took a little while to adapt but I eventually got the hang of it. After I removed the skates, I found an egg-sized blister on the sole of my foot.

Figure skaters are amazing. I played rep hockey for over a decade growing up. Many of the figure skaters I knew could outskate our entire hockey team...like, just speed...not talking any of the other amazing things they do. I basically grew up at the arena and did power skating every year...and there were as many figure skayers there as hockey players. All the best skaters in the league...you wpuld see them every year at power skating. All the weak skaters made fun of us...and that is why they never excelled. It was more important than the hockey schools I attended. Power skating is what me one of the best defensemen in the league, year after year, even though I was regularly the smallest, and had no slap shot. Power skating even made me hit harder and take hits better, even though it had nothing to do with that...werent even allowed sticks and there certainly was never a puck to be seen.

Soccer players play with almost no protection compared to ice hockey players so you are more prone to injuries than hockey.
Secondly they sprint not skate at much a larger field for a longer duration of time with less intermission.

One crucial question: Why does he never talk about his parents or his childhood or adolescence? The furthest into his past we hear about is his failed career as a radio shock jock (three stints, two of them less than a year, fired or "let go" from all of them). In terms of the politics of hockey, the older players (the Bobby Hull/ Bobby Orr era) either lean conservative or are full on conservative (Orr even supported Trump). Younger players tend to be liberal since more black players started coming into the league starting with Grant Fuhr in the 1980s.
Bobby Hull was basically a fascist. He was on the record saying good things about Adolph Hitler. From what I’ve seen Orr is really a right wing republican, he supported Mitt Romney back in the day.
Wayne Gretzky’s also really conservative too. He loved Stephen Harper apparently.
