The stern of such boat size gives very poor support for my 200lbm weight. Maybe it will work well for someone else. 2) with one man on one side the opposite side is lifted up from the water. and provide bow function of waves protection.
not anyone has money for strong boat ... but anyone has dream for power boating. This is low cost solution to do it. + it is lightweight what is another advantage vs "good" boat
