    Your all over the place, Jon. I think we'd be good friends. I built my first strawbale in 1978. Since then an earthship (tire house), an underground rammed earth geodesic dodecahedron, a house built from bailed styrofoam lunch trays ( favorite) and as many other alternative style as I could design. I'm working on a 500 sqft treehouse at the moment. Nearly finished.

    Beautiful. Thank you for sharing your home.
    This is exactly what I would like to do when I retire. Unfortunately, I will have to hire someone to build it for me.
    Be safe

    Great idea. I would love it even more if it was completely off grid, collecting rain water and using the gray water to water the plants and to flush the toilet. I saw an earthship house where they also built a greenhouse to grow vegetables and a natural air-conditioning system just by digging a very deep hole in the ground connected to your house.
    The temperature is naturally warm in winter and cool in summer at cost zero. Solar panels can also be placed on a panels which can be regulated around the house. It would be great to have a crystal clear unbreakable glass to use as the roof so that the solar panels can be placed right underneath it, protected from the snow and other problems.

    Thanks Jon. Where can I get building plans for a build like this? CA code very strict but with housing shortage and a push for "green" building it is possible. Thanks for sharing your beautiful build! I really want one of these.

    How do you divide your time between Thailand and US? I’m in a similar situation :) Is this type of house need permits, etc. Thanks for your channel!

      I spend 2 months in the US the rest in Thailand .I have more freedom in Thailand. In the US some area there is no permit but most of the area have permit.

    Jon, congratulations! Could you give us a ballpark idea of the cost of a house like this one?

    • @JonJandaiLifeisEasy
      @JonJandaiLifeisEasy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If we build in Thailand it will be about 10,000 us dollars but in the US more than 50,000 us dollars . The furniture are more expensive than the house. If we use the local and simple materials it can decrease up to half way.

    • @gulfwinds
      @gulfwinds 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@JonJandaiLifeisEasy Thank you Jon! I agree that building it in Thailand would be significantly less expensive. On the other hand, commuting would be an issue... ;)

      Did you mean,
      "If we we use local and simple materials, CONSTRUCTION COSTS COULD BE decreased by half (i.e. decreased from US $ 50,000 to US $ 25,000)"?
      RSVP, thx. & all blessings to you & yours...

      So the lumber is probably the most expensive but in my area, farmers charge 5$ a bale. That can add up

    you need a stone owen rocket stove.. With the furacne buildt into the wall. That way you save alot of the heat from the wood that would otherwise just go straight up into the air. Now you save it in the wall, giving you heat for 24 hours. you only need to fire up in the rocket stove once every 24 hours.
    That way you can heat a house yearly with only 3 cubic meters of wood. a 100 sq meter house
