    Ladakh was a kingdom and we used to be a seperate entity and we were Ladakhs pa first and nothing else!!! we accept Indian identity just a 100 yrs back but our history dates back to 1000 years as an independent entity!!!

    1:45 Maryul means red land like Mars, not low land, and other meaning is Mar means Butter and yul meas valley, as ladakh used to have many livestock that time and butter from ladakh was famous in Tibet and baltistan areas

      Thanks, I am using the source of this from official Ladakh website leh.nic.in and the Book "Ladakh crossroads of high Asia" by Janet Rizvi. Etymology of ancient names is often complicated and so there is possibility of old names having multiple meanings like incase of Maryul itself apart from lowland as what you have also mentioned in the Millennium: Journal of International Studies author Stanzin Lhaskyabs mentions Maryul as Red Land/Valley/Soil. Appreciate your inputs 🙏

    Dogra attack was an invasion of Ladakh not an integration.. Ladakh was an independent kingdom untill Dogra attacked Ladakh and they further went to Tibet to capture some of its part but was killed by Tibet Army.. Ladakh was not under Tibetan kingdom during Dogra attack..

    This place (Ladakh) should be saved and protect for our future generations to see, and now days they are asking for protection under the constitution of India, called "6th schedule". The Government of India should protect Ladakh region, it's cultural and people.

    Great video
    Only the meaning of shey was not accurate
    Actually shey was known as shel khar ,shel meaning mirror and khar meaning palace.There used to be a pond on the east side of the shey palace which acted like a mirror where the reflection of the palace could be seen.

    • @travellingplaces
      @travellingplaces  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks, Yes you are right & exactly by the same logic of lake & reflection the meaning clear is also derived. Etymology of ancient names is often complicated and so there is possibility of old names having multiple meanings. Infact sometime back, I read a paper in which the author argued meaning of Shey derived from Tibetan as "to understand". Appreciate your inputs 🙏

    5:55 Pather saheb is not considered as a sikh religious place among locals. It is knowns as Lama Guru (guru meaning hunched back in Ladakhi language not the Hindi version guru) it was given to the army by the Late Kushok Bakula rinpoche not because it belong to sikhs but as the army provided lunch to the travellers coming to and from leh. In those days it took a full days travel took so much longer than these days. So Pather sahib as known by sikhs these days has nothing to do with Sikh religion.

    • @rigzinyangdol2889
      @rigzinyangdol2889 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      True there is no historical background to pather sahib. The land was given by the late Ven Kushok Bakula to the army to provide food to the travellers.

    I think you need to reconsider the facts sir, Ladakh as show in the map comprise kingdoms , you are only talking about the singy dyansity (which is limited to 1/4 th of ladakh only ), but skipping the kingdoms of baltistan, hunza nagar and gilgit.

    • @travellingplaces

      The video focuses mainly on Central Ladakh and specifically about places & specific events around Leh. I think the thumbnail, title and first 30 seconds of the video makes it quite clear.
