Tomazacre was equally powerful in both rounds, while Codfish dragged his buildup out for almost half of his second round and lost the hold he had on the crowd/judges completely. Codfish could've won but he underestimated his opponent and just wasn't playing the game right. Both are super sick and got my head bopping every round, tho Tomazacre was just much more hungry for that win
He didn't underestimated tomazacre he was holding back on purpose because he was saving for finals but tomazacre was all out He was better against codfish than he was against dlow is the proof
Before we start the video: No, I don't think Codfish is overrated. Codfish is amazing in a lot of ways. His routines may get repetitive buy that's just his style. Every beatboxer gets repetitive. Codfish is super clean, he knows how to make amazing flow and structure and he has a great stage presence tbh. I can always feel energy when Codfish is on stage. He is unique. The only thing I see that can be improved for Codfish is his singing. Though, I do think he lost this battle. It was a really really close battle but I have to give it to Tomazacre. It's so hard to judge this battle though and I can see myself changing my mind everytime I watch this battle.
For me its clear why Codfish did not win. He is my favourite beatboxer but he has a habit of going easy in the first rounds. Also at the end of the 2nd round he became very unclean while trying to gather hype, the last few Pf snares sounded more like spit snares.
I don't think Codfish is overrated, lots of his fans are just toxic towards others who have different opinions. I think people's favourite beatboxers should be based on personal taste.
Let's see how much Madox agrees with me before the premier: Reasons for Codfish not winning: 1. His first round was really catchy but weak compared to Tomazacre. 2. His second round was good and clean but in the end he become very unclean. The last few Pf snares sounded like spit snares. And Codfish is my favourite beatboxer, but I don't go hating every battle he doesn't win. To those normies who think he won GBB 2018 because of NaPoM, remember one vote is not enough to win. He was voted by the majority of the judges, meaning they liked his beatbox as well. Just because NaPoM was open about his reactions doesn't make him biased. Perhaps you should see stuff other than battles and get to know beatboxers as people when they are not on stage, this will surely prevent misconceptions from arising.
I'm new to enjoying beatboxing but I have watched many videos over the last few months. I particularly enjoy seeing peoples reactions, especially if they have never heard beatboxing before. However, hearing an analysis from an actual beatboxer has given me an even deeper understanding of the techniques etc. Thanks my guy!

Tomazacre won because he was more powerful, his beats were more difficult and at the final of the second round of Codfish he literally became crazy 😂 Srry for my bad english
I love you literally, you are the best reactionist for beatbox. you are a great inspiration ,hope you rich great heights and may your subscriber raise up
So this is my take on Codfish. There is no denying that he is a very capable and talented beatboxer who can compete at the highest level, he also seems like a genuinely nice guy off stage too. However, having said that, I think he is perhaps more comfortable in the showcase environment than in the battle environment, this is particularly obvious to me when he was up against B-Art and his facial expressions and body language definitely looked like that of a beaten man. He is also capable of performing some incredible battle rounds, but I think he isn't as consistent in that environment. Now as to his popularity, my understanding is that Codfish had been beatboxing in gaming lobbies for a LONG time before he hit thr GBB stage and had what would be considered a successful TH-cam channel before becoming the name we all know today, so I think a lot of those fans (who maybe didn't know too much about other beatboxers) have supported him like he's the only beatboxer in the world, and that's where you get these people who look like massive fanboys. Great breakdown again Madox, love this original format 👍
He's good at showcasing, but I think nothing's wrong to codfish in battle environment. He knows what he's doing in front of the stage with his competitor. In Codfish vs B-art, I don't think he really prepared his last round for battling and may be he really prepared it to end the competition which is actually lit. In 2018, his style is really surprising that's why he won against hhas although hhas really did some crazy stuff. And against bataco, after 2nd round of bataco, everyone might already think codfish has no chance to fight back knowing his style he had shown so far, but he again surprise the audience with his solid laser+liprolls and no diggity transition to you wanna battle + technicality. I think that's how you battle in stage, you can clearly make the audience understand what you're doing and persuade them that you are the winner.
@@arinix3618 You are perfectly right. H Has first drop was really Crazy but Codfish held his ground and intimidated him by saying, "Except win". And no one would have expected Codfish to do lazers, and that too the strongest lazers ever heard. Codfish can do liprolls and other sounds as well, but thats just not his style. Hopefully he will return with more diversity and amazing routines.
@@rizilm2229 even on his return in 2019, I really thought he only won just because his style was never heard, but he proved that he is capable to win. In his elimination, with scott jackson saying "the champion from last year," my expectation from him is very high although I really don't expect him to be big for this year but yeah he really convinced me that he is also one of the best. I mean just getting in the top 8 of GBB is already a big achievement. Also he easily beat zekka, and I know how good zekka is. Hopefully GBB would be back again next year, it will be crazier. Beatbox is really evolving faster and faster.
Overall, I think that he as a battler is extremely capable, but happened to choose a style of beatbox that is difficult to use in battle. Obviously as seen in the battle with bataco, he knows damn well how to battle. Imo he got lucky that he was able to counter the laser, so yeah. He’s utterly insane, and I’ve got all the world of respect for him, but I feel he is better suited to judge and do showcases than battle.

The first round of Tomazacre against D-Low was very sick, but the second one was pretty weak (Excepting the "I'mma Try It Out" beat drop, which is one of my favorites in all of GBB). In comparison, Tomazacre did amazing in both rounds against Codfish. I think that's because he mastered those two routines much more than the ones he used against D-Low. He even said himself that he wasn't prepared in a tweet. I really hope to see Tomazacre again in the next GBB, and watch him become the champion. He really deserves it, his style is very impressive.

Love your reaction vids, Love the way they flow and your different segments. But above all I think your critique and comments are always spot on, insightful, knowledgeable and also fair. Keep it up my friend, 👊
He is overrated in some ways. Because i’ve seen many people think that codfish is the best beatboxer ever, which is not necessarily true because I believe every beatboxer is better at their own respective and unique styles, so there is no true “best beatboxer” in my opinion. I have also seen many people flooding the swissbeatbox chat during livestreams, for example, “Where is codfish??”, “Codfish is better..”(comparing a beatboxer to codfish). And they just bring it up even though codfish is so out of the subject. It really pains me to see people only wanting to see codfish, and totally forget there are other beatboxers that need support as well. The increase in codfish’s popularity has also made people sort of love the musical side of beatbox and make them almost ignore the beauty of beatbox technicality. Codfish was a big joy to the community, but his popularity also came with negative effects as well, in relation to the opinions of newcomers and non-beatboxers; opinions such as codfish being the “best”, and even in the way they deny the truth of codfish being placed only 4th place in the GBB19 by saying something like “He wasn’t trying his best”, or “he probably just went there to see/meet other beatboxers so he didn’t try his best”. These sayings are very unlikely because logic states that codfish went there to defend his title since he had a choice to either compete again since he won the previous year or not compete at all, because that’s literally how it works. But on a positive note, codfish definitely helped to grow the swissbeatbox community. And I love his music, I respect him for that. So is codfish overrated? Well, sort of. But I feel like more of the attention should be focused on other beatboxers, and not just the popular ones. PS Much love to the beatbox community
Btw Maddox, that inward tongue roll bass that tomazacre ended his first round with is something that was actually invented by someone from my home country, an American! It’s called the “Villain inward OD bass” and I bet you can guess who discovered it. It’s essentially very much related to the inward clickroll, however what makes it different is that it’s from a very specific region on your tongue, and it’s an oscillation between your tongue and upper lip actually, colaps has started incorporating this unique bass into his arsenal too! I can’t do it worth a damn though XD just thought I’d share some beatbox sound and bass knowledge with you, as well as love from the US! Thank you for the entertaining and enlightening content, love your music and your analysis too!🙏❤️
Big Up Madox! Richtig schönes Konzept! Ich hoffe du startest damit weiter durch!! Deine Videos sind immer schön zum anschauen. Wäre schade wenn so ein Content Creator sich nicht kreativ austobt um Leute zu unterhalten und zu erleuchten!
Codfish definitely isn't overrated.... That dude has this power in his voice He has op singing skill, has pretty clean beatboxing Not to mention, his throat bass and vibration bass is amazing But yeah....last year it looked like he went easy.... But as ppl suggested.....it is a tournament and you join it to win.... So ya he gave his best But tomazacre is another beast ngl And guys...I'm no fan boy so chill 😅
Codfish trains his throat bass like how most singers train their normal voice. No doubt it sounds so different and good. He trains is normal voice also.
I think I prefer Tomazacre's throat bass when he do it on low pitch, look at his first drop in his first round. I've always trying to do the same sound but it didn't sounded the same🔥🔥
I think the reason why Tomazacre won this, I think Tomazacre was won on the sound variety. I mean, let's be clear, both could do throat bass, but the thing is that Tomazacre could do Hard Bass, which is something that Codfish couldn't really do. And I wanna be honest that Tomazacre's low throat bass imo sounds better compared to Codfish, you could see on the first round on his first round which is right in 5:00. At that point his low throat bass is possibly one of the heaviest and most powerful low throat bass that I've ever heard. I never seen Codfish copied Tomazacre's 4:56 beat, but I could tell that if Codfish would wanna try to copy that, chances are it would be sounded inferior compared to Tomazacre. (P.S: I still agree that Codfish' throat bass is very good, one of the best, but the way he's best at is different on Tomazacre's throat bass, so I would say that Codfish's throat bass is best used in musicality but Tomazacre's throat is best used in heavier application such as dubstep) And another point that I would wanna make, because they both could do throat bass really well like I'd earlier, it is possible if Tomazacre would counter Codfish's first round, and would possibly sounded better or at least different than Codfish and giving a different feel on the throat bass (no offense on Codfish ok? Just in case if an army of Codfish fanboy wanna raid me of this comment), but he didn't do that and bring this type of Moombahton beat in his round 2, and that's another plus point because I never seen beatboxers bring such type of genre into the stage or at least to battle.
Definitely looking forward to this!

Bro in just a few days you became into my favourite beatbox channel, keep it up !
For me, it felt like this match from tomazacre was way more harder and better than the one against D-Low
I disagree
The first round of Tomazacre against D-Low was very sick, but the second one was pretty weak (Excepting the "I'mma Try It Out" beat drop, which is one of my favorites in all of GBB).
In comparison, Tomazacre did amazing in both rounds against Codfish.
I think that's because he mastered those two routines much more than the ones he used against D-Low.
He even said himself that he wasn't prepared in a tweet.
I really hope to see Tomazacre again in the next GBB, and watch him become the champion.
He really deserves it, his style is very impressive.
Because he was all out against Codfish who he knew a god at bass and musical as well, so he went hard to beat him
I swear this is my favorite content rn!!
We need a NME VS INKIE GBB19 Analysis (Definitely the most controversial Loopstation Battle ever) Everyone like this so MADOX can see.
Up
Up but disagree with most controversial loop battle ever. That goes to beatness vs inkie for me

PS Much love to the beatbox community

most people like good music over beatbox and codfish delivers that every time! He is not overrated, he is catchy and elegant.
I agree with you

The new toxic bbx fans need to read this
Btw Maddox, that inward tongue roll bass that tomazacre ended his first round with is something that was actually invented by someone from my home country, an American! Thank you for the entertaining and enlightening content, love your music and your analysis too!🙏❤️
I wish I could see them both in one team in a team battle. That would be amazing
Can you make an analyse for a loopstation battle like nme vs rythmind

Two things
1: I am a codfish fan but tomazacre really deserved this win.
2: He actually posted a CSGO video recently. Not even a year ago.

Codfish definitely isn't overrated....
That dude has this power in his voice
He has op singing skill, has pretty clean beatboxing
Not to mention, his throat bass and vibration bass is amazing
But yeah....last year it looked like he went easy....
But as ppl suggested.....it is a tournament and you join it to win....
So ya he gave his best
But tomazacre is another beast ngl
And guys...I'm no fan boy so chill 😅
Codfish trains his throat bass like how most singers train their normal voice. No doubt it sounds so different and good. He trains is normal voice also.
his throat bass is cleanest.... umm... you mean his vibration bass
How do people know he went easy? If you enter a tournament, the goal is to win, no?
I think I prefer Tomazacre's throat bass when he do it on low pitch, look at his first drop in his first round. I've always trying to do the same sound but it didn't sounded the same🔥🔥
@@VinoGer i dont hate on codfish but tomazacre won this one for sure
When I first heard codfish I was an immediate fan and he also inspired me to start beatboxing
Tomazacre : "It's a battle a so look at me".
Codfish : "Tryna talk to a god".
Tomazacre be like, "Am i joke to you"?
This guy is sick I love ur reactions and ur beat boxing I'm subbing
His Liprolls are really full:-
NaPom waiting for his reference somewhere
I can’t wait to see codfish perform ‘mystic man’ on stage.
(P.S: I still agree that Codfish' throat bass is very good, one of the best, but the way he's best at is different on Tomazacre's throat bass, so I would say that Codfish's throat bass is best used in musicality but Tomazacre's throat is best used in heavier application such as dubstep)
And another point that I would wanna make, because they both could do throat bass really well like I'd earlier, it is possible if Tomazacre would counter Codfish's first round, and would possibly sounded better or at least different than Codfish and giving a different feel on the throat bass (no offense on Codfish ok? Just in case if an army of Codfish fanboy wanna raid me of this comment), but he didn't do that and bring this type of Moombahton beat in his round 2, and that's another plus point because I never seen beatboxers bring such type of genre into the stage or at least to battle.
👍👍👍👍👍 good job there
One suggestion do reading comments after watching the video, like that's how things maybe introduce some other segment in it's place
Or maybe before AND as a little break inbetween? 🧐
But in general a sick input, wasnt thinking about it yet
At 15:04 I thought codfish was saying: PAPAYA PAPAYA! 🤣 😂
