It's incredible how the vocals of Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" would mix into the tone and style of the song "Look-a-Like" from the Sonic OVA, resulting as a tribute to two of our all-time legends we've grown up with. Real smooth, dude!
The amount of views and likes this video has is ridiculous considering the ludicrously outstanding quality of it. This deserves to be way WAAAAY more popular! Thank you for doing all of this amazing mashups and mixes!!
Two favorites I grew up with as a kid; Sonic The Hedgehog and Michael Jackson (especially one of my favorite songs from Michael; Smooth Criminal). Put simply; I love this.
This made me think back to the late-80s/early-90 and seeing those early ads for the SEGA Genesis when they would advertise the Moonwalker video game, the whole "Genesis Does" campaign. MJ was right there in the thick of it with SEGA for that brief period of time up until leaving during the development on Sonic 3's music. It was a bizarre thing to witness, we thought we saw a changing of the guard coming in the games industry and for a short while it was. SEGA had those couple years once Sonic debuted where they couldn't be touched, not even by Nintendo who they took a little over half the market away from. They became part of the "it" thing in pop culture. You wore Air Jordans, an NBA Starter jacket, listened to Michael Jackson, and played SEGA. Sonic was the first non-Disney character to be featured in Disney World, he had the two cartoons starring Jaleel White, merchandise out the wazoo from T-shirts to a board game, and the then-new comic book series that is still going today. There's even a gene in the human body named after him. I digress. This was a fitting tribute and a great mixing job you did. Keep up the good work. :)
In the early-90s, yep. He had a huge indoor statue at one of the buildings in Epcot Center. Below it were Genesis kiosks for trying out new games and other things.

I’ve heard this video so many times, but only now do I notice the really good re-cut scene from the Shadow The Hedgehog intro at 4:22. Feels like an actual event and not just a bunch of stuff happening.
No fucking way, this is a historic moment! Funnily enough, I was thinking about remaking this mashup somehow, but I’m definitely going to work with the uncut Look-A-Like vocals!
May I just say this Michael Jackson and sonic are the best combinations in sonic history even though the modern fans see crush 40 as their favorite in sonic history and they are the best combination nothing beats the king of pop with the blue blur

I think (1:24 to 1:42) doesn't quite fit so well as it becomes clear his vocal notes wasn't made for this music, but the rest is great! and my gosh, that opening is fantastic!

Ultimately though, I’m just really a huge fan of both Sonic & MJ, how much they were a part of my childhood & how well they mix together (even Sonic’s shoes were partly inspired my Michael’s boots).

The main font used was the Andes font, which is used for most of the text in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. You'd probably have to download it since it's not on any default font option.
It kind of works but it also kind of doesn't. the lyrics of Smooth Criminal aren't pitch shifted to match Look Alike so the beat matches but it sounds weirdly off.
