Two options for fully enclosed transport, Lorraine 38 with a pintle MMG and a capacity of 12 men and the Berliet VUDB with a LMG and a capacity of 7 men,Belgium can also use the Berliet . Enjoying the videos 😊

Please turn up your mic for future videos.
There’s a few other options for closed top transport, but they’ve got flaws. Errata gives the Germans the UNIC P107, but it has Command Vehicle to up its cost by 25 points (also it used to be French). Polish get two in Road to Berlin, but they’re both unique (only one example in history) units and one is inexperienced only.
I’ve seen evidence French are best in low point games and doubles due to the extreme strength of their twin free equipment and unlikelyhood of encountering serious armor in low points.
I've heard of FT spam armored lists being a thing. Rather than use them as tanks, they are treated as cheap MMGs (less than an MMG team for some reason) that can move (slowly) and shoot while being immune to small arms. Might be a good compliment to gun line.

You are right all armies that get free units are strongest in low-point games. and combining pseudo-tank builds with gunline guilds is very strong

I need to figure out a strong 500 pt. French list that's competitive. No vehicles

If you take a Birlette VUDB you can take a Groupe Franc unit of 7 men. 4 with sub machine guns, 2 with lmg's, and one with a VB launcher. Give them all tank Hunter with anti tank grenades, and you have a scary unit.

New here, what is an MSU Army? With cavalry and motorcycles a Recce Army looks like an option, if that is a thing. I keep hoping Warlord will publish a 2nd edition Armies of France book and let players mix up early, mid and late war French, like Juggernaut. One additional weakness of almost all French armored vehicles is no bow MMG.

I've made a colab video about it (look in my tutorials play list). basically it is an army where you have MANY small units (2-5) and a lot of OD

Interesting that you think there's some play with VB launchers. I struggle with the 18 inch range and the fact that I spam them with inexperienced troops to get the free squad, because they hit on 6s anyway. Easy meat for assault units.

The only thing that hurts the French is that almost every single tank they have and use that is not foreign has the single man rule, and so you have to roll and see if you pass an orders test for every advance or run that you want to do with them. Put a few pins on them and they 5 times out of 6 are stuck and down due to not passing it.
But I do love the S-35 Somua I rate it higher than the Pz III up to Ausf J variant for the game.

One-Man Turret vehicles do not have to test for Run orders, only Advance orders. Any army has to test when units have pins, so French are no different in that regard. It is a disadvantage, but an officer can help.
