Review Luminess Air System Makeup Women Over 60

- Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a wonderful day. So in today’s video, I thought I would do a review of the Luminess System which is a makeup system using a special compressor.
You mix the water based makeup drops into the system and use the wand to airbrush the makeup onto your skin.
I have been curious about this system for many years and thought I would give it a try. You basically use the wand “as you would a brush” to airbrush the makeup.
Let me say it’s been difficult for me to find a good match for me. I keep getting yellow based foundations which do not work for me. I’ve been playing around with the colors to try to get a good match for my skin.
In this video you can clearly see where the makeup is gathering around my fine lines, not a good look ever.
I am continuing to try to play with the system to see if I can master the airbrush. I will let you know my thoughts in a future video.

Maybe the camera is deceptive, but I think it looks amazing and the color is so natural on you. I see a huge difference in the redness and you look beautiful!

You did a good job on the video. I have used Luminess for the past two years and I just wanted to comment on the price. Several years ago I used Estee Lauder makeup at $35 a bottle (no idea what they charge now) which lasted a month. I believe Luminess is actually a minimum cost in comparison.After the initial cost, I receive autoship of two bottles of Luminess for $9 every two months. You use so little in the application that a bottle lasts a month for me. You can collect points for free products which I have done several times. Plus when you are on autoship your unit is covered by "insurance". I have used that once for a replacement unit. Luminess' customer service is excellent and their sales are frequent for fun items. Maybe you just weren't aware because you were new? I'm 66 and this product is so light it doesn't accentuate my wrinkles. I love it!
Thank you Karin for your comments. I think that once you get used to applying the makeup it would give a lovely application. My main concern was that I couldn’t quite get the color correct. I’ve ended up with 16 vials and still not able to color match to my skin. I have issues a lot as many foundations have yellow undertones and my skin has a lot of pink to it.

@@PolishedAfterSixtyYvette I have the same problem with the colors. Hence why I’m watching different videos to see how it looks on everyone else. I keep hearing the same thing about the color. I don’t think that your color looks bad at all and when you conceal and powder it all seems to even out. Well at least on me. Blessings 😊
Hi and thank you for your comments. I could never figure it out. I tried combining so many shades together to no avail. I finally gave up. I also didn’t like having all that equipment on my vanity. Anyway, I do think that it may be a good foundation for some people it just didn’t work out for me. The search for a holy grail foundation (if there is such a thing) continues. Your video was an honest representation. It takes some practice, just like when we were teenagers. My sister is a flight attendant and she introduced me to airbrush makeup. What I like about it is that with 3 or 4 bottles I can match my skin tone as it changes throughout the year: summer tan to winter pale and inbetween. But you need to get that basic match first and your experience was just like mine until I got in the right “family”. For blush I prefer to mix pink and a peach colors. Don’t forget to finish the application. I always use a little shimmer for highlights and cheekbones as a finish so I don’t have that flat pancake type look. One airbrush makeup has a product “moist and dewy” and gives the same results. I have found it is great for older skin.
I just got another airbrush compressor and looking forward to trying to find a good match. What is the product that has that dewy look? I’m going to be trying out with the foundation I have at home. Hoping for good results, fingers crossed!😊🙏🏻
I think it's a really natural look. I've used mine three times so far. I'm 52 and have genetic dark circles. I like the lighter coverage but find I'm having an issue with my undereye area. In all I think it's a great product and to me, it's easier than applying foundation with my sponge or a blush. Thank you for your review. You look wonderful.

Did I really say “suckers” LOL. I think it’s a good product if you can find the correct colors to match your skin tone. I had issues finding the right tones to use. I have a lot of pink undertones and couldn’t quite find the ones that worked for my complexion. I hope it works for you-it does give a natural coverage. 😊🙏🏻

I think the color is great on you very natural. I think they have a full coverage foundation you might want to consider so you don't need use so much of the product but still get the results. I think it looks great on you.

Thank you for your helpful and honest review about this product. I would never purchase it for so many reasons, one of the main ones being the difficulty in properly matching the color to your skin tone.
I have a suggestion if you haven’t already tried it but if you want a foundation that will match your skin tone exactly, feel light weight, wear beautifully all day and give you perfect coverage you have to try Il Makiage Woke Up Like This. The way they’re able to match your color from taking the online quiz and the fact that people with oily skin feel like it’s powdery soft and people with dry skin feel hydrated even though it’s only one formula has me convinced that it’s made by aliens! I know I must sound like I work for the company but I honestly have no affiliation except as a completely satisfied customer.

Hello Gail! Thank you for your kindness. Yes I did try it. The first foundation they sent me had yellow undertones. I did a video and initially thought it was good but after looking at it further realized it was not a good match. I called their service department and they asked for a picture voila a good match. Thank you so much for suggesting it. 😊🙏🏻

I think it looks really good. I just received the system from them yesterday, but I wanted to check out some videos that are not produced by them before trying it out.
I’m actually still a little confused about the entire cost, and I received 4 bottles of foundation to color match. Only the lightest one seems like it will match. I also have cool undertones, and have experienced foundation turning orange on me as the day progresses. I’m probably going to have the same situation you did. At least I am aware of the “rose collection “. Thanks so much for sharing your experience, and I think it does look great on you!
Hello Lara and thank you for your feedback. Getting the right shade was very difficult for me; in fact, I was not able to master it. I think I have 14 bottles of different shades! It is hard to find right shade and mixture but once you have it your good to go.
I agree it takes about 2 times more drops than they advertised but applying is so quick and easy with practice. I’m 75 and have a few dark spots which I have to cover but feel like the coverage is light and don’t show my wrinkles like the liquid makeup does. I was a Clinique girl which is expensive so cost wise about the same.

My friend from high school and I are going on a cruise end of October. ( Hopefully we will not get into a lot of trouble 🤗). The only issue I see with it is finding the correct shade for you. I have a cooler complexion and found it difficult to find a good match for me.
Hi Yvette, I think it looks beautiful but it’s also too much time and effort. It’s so hard to find a color match for foundation. I just recently found some good drugstore matches but it took a lot of trial and error. Like you, I look neutral but actually skew cool. So I finally realized all the neutral colors turned orange on me. I’m actually a soft beige color. I feel good though because I found some good color matches. Personally if I were you I would return it because of the clutter alone.

Good evening Yvette. I do think it looked very nice on u but I’d have to agree that it’s a lot of work. I’m not so sure I’d have the patience for all of that. I rarely use foundation, even though I’m big on eye makeup and blush, but I am planning on wearing it more often due to age spots that r developing. Like u said, it’s very difficult finding a color match. U did a great job of explaining the technique of this product but I just could never justify the price. To me it would never be worth it not to mention dragging it out every time I decided to use it.
Hello Brenda, hope you’re well. I had been curious about this system for a long time; they were offering a trial and I thought I’d give it a try. Having done this, I’m certified will be going back. Hard to color match, messy and just all around difficult. Not for me plus it’s an expensive product which does not give me a look that I can’t achieve with other cosmetics. It’s been beautiful here . You need to cover all the red and age spots first. When you are happy with coverage then you air brush all of face. You did the opposite and that is why you still saw your problem areas. After you were done though your skin looked great and you looked so much younger.

I’m new to this myself but if you watch other tutorials on here. They always hit the blemishes first and dark areas before going full face. I see where you missed a few spots I like mine a lot easy to use and practice makes you better and better mines a keeper.

If you don’t like using machine can you use a sponge to put on makeup
I used a sponge and the coverage was ok. I think it’s really formulated for the air machine but it is doable. My biggest issue was finding the correct “formula”. Meaning x drops of one color and x of the other to get a good color match. 😊
Did you ever try under eye concealer?
Hello Debi, yes I do wear it sometimes. Luckily I don’t always have discoloration. I find that concealer can settle in my wrinkles so I try to go without when I can.
Has anyone used this on crepey eyelids?
It sounds interesting but also sounds like alot of work. I think it would be great for makeup artists cause they wouldn't cross contaminate products using this but I think the average consumer probably needs to take some kind of course to know how to use it right.

Did you use moisturizer first Luminess says not to use moisturizer with oils in it that may be why it went orange
Hello Christina, I believe I did but I always wait for all skin products to sink in before moving on to the next steps. I do have a continuous issue with foundation oxidizing on my skin. I think this may be a good product if you can find the correct color. Unfortunately, even though we made various attempts it did not work for me. Stay well😊🙏🏻

Hi. I bought luminess in my 50's ; rarely used it for the same reason. a. it was difficult to color match b: it took more product than they said. c. annoying to clean. Representatives were not helpful. You have a beautiful face and beautiful eyes. I think the color was a decent match for you, but I feel that you needed color correction first for the darkness under your eyes and your your redness. You put this up a year ago. I am wondering if you used it a lot since then. It is sitting in my bathroom. I would like to recommend you pull up Nikol Johnson's youtube. She is an expert. I think she has products that you would prefer, and teaches how to do the application of color correction, eye primor, brightener, etc. I had read that airbrushing was not so great for wrinkles because the product settles in them. You aren't very wrinkled, neither am I. Were you mixing the primer and the makeup together? I would love your opinion on Nikol Johnson, watch her videos for makeup on people over 60 as well as the other. I think that if you had used her color correction, under eye primer, her concealer, eye brightener and recommendations for color, eyes and lips, you would be happier.

I ended up sending back the unit. We tried numerous times to get a match for my pink undertones and weren’t able to find a good match. It’s so hard to try and figure out how many drops of what shade to get a right match for your skin. I also didn’t like to have to either store the unit away or keep it on my vanity. So back it went.

@@PolishedAfterSixtyYvette I understand. Now, I recall that there was a color correction kit through luminess. Was that what you were mixing in with the color, or was that the white facial primer? I think you are extremely picky. I did not see any spots and it covered the redness in your cheeks. I think the color looked natural on you and it makes you look flawless and beautiful. You are too hard on yourself. I think you did a great job.
Thank you for your feedback. I agree it looked nice but the color was a bit on the yellow/orange side and tended to oxidize over the day. I beleive it’s a great system if you can find a good match for yourself. I do tend to have a hard time color matching my skin in general. Maybe I am too picky LOL 😊🙏🏻

She’s not following instructions on distance from applying. First of all, she gets way too close to her face & the tutorial says that will make it look too caked on. Secondly, she expects perfection with one swipe of application! Pretty sure the lighter foundation is supposed to neutralize the redness in her cheeks & nose. Then the slightly darker color evens out the overall effect. WATCH THE TUTORIALS!!!
Thank you for your comments. The tutorial says 4 fingers from your face; from the index to the pinky away from your face. I didn’t have an issue with the foundation caking. I had issues with getting the correct color for my complexion. Thanks again though.

What I've noticed, is your doing it way too close, you start out 4 fingers away, but within seconds your right up on your skin, not only that, but you are going super fast, the closer you get the faster you go and both things goes against the "how to use" videos. This is just my observation watching you.
