I watched your superb vids again last night and got stuck in today putting the head on, I had just torqued the bolts down (using your method of course)when I stood up I noticed these 2 metal rings that go on the bottom of the pushrod tubes, sitting on my bench, arghh, forgot to put the buggers on so off with the head and back on again with the rings fitted. Now for the tappets.
Thanks nicktrcat :-) you gotta love them roads and my bike goes great! I've used a rotary brush good on a soft deposit, but has a tendency to polish hard stuff. + I was too lazy to get my drill out '-)
...hello Lunmad; actually the T140E has the red ones (70-7310) in the bottom and the Black viton ones (71-1283) in the top. Many use both viton (71-1283) Also, the T140E tubes have a groove for the bottom O ring but those seem not. Then you forgot to use the square rings that are hold by the wedding ring.
Hi Reverb :-) thanks for the info and pt numbers. I am not sure if the tubes had been changed but non of the square rings would fit the wedding band they where all too fat to get the correct squish, maybe the head had been skimmed again not sure. O-rings wise Viton is usually brown/red in colour, Nitrile is Black this was the way it was but as you know things change.
Hi Lunmad, i have recently had barrel and head reconditioned. Now that pushrod tubes have been fitted the gap between cylinder and head is too large causing pushrod top seal (red one) to be forced up through the head while tightening slightly. Is there a thinner crush seal (bottom one) to rectify this problem? Thanks and such great helpful videos you have done.
Hi mate iv just getting a t140 giving off my dad and no nothing about them having trouble with the su carburettor I'm in durham and u sound local do u do work for others cheers steve
Hi Steve :-) I'm just down the road from ya, near Middlesbrough, I'd love to have a look at your bike for you. SU carbs are pretty simple has the bike ran ok with this carb on, or did the problems start after it was fitted? I will pm you.
