Exploring Natural Bridge State Park with the Kids in Virginia

Spring has finally arrived for us over here in Virginia!
We decided to spend the weekend over on the west side of Virginia and the first place we went was Natural Bridge State Park. Only a short 1/4 mile from the trail head lies one of Virginia's hidden wonders, the natural bridge. Depending on your direction of travel you might just cross right over it as a major road that goes through the town lies at its' crest.
Although there is a fee to get in the park we felt like it was totally worth it. There is a pay station with an official of the park as you walk down the stairs towards the natural bridge so make sure you bring your wallet or some cash. It was right around $10 a person with children 3 and under being free.
The full trail takes you along the stream right through the natural bridge and on towards Lace Falls. In total it's about 1 mile there and another mile to get back to the trail head. This land was once owned by Thomas Jefferson whose story surrounding this beautiful area you can read on the several plaques along this incredible Virginia hike.
The town that Natural Bridge State Park is in is literally called, Natural Bridge, Virginia. The historic town of Lexington is also not that far away and one that we highly suggest you pay a visit.
