- comicsforbegin... I've talked about the tools of the trade in other videos, but this time I want to dig deep on some of the some of the classic tools for comics inking and show the different style in lines you get from a marker vs. a brush or a quill.
As a companion to this video artist Michael Johnson Curry (mikejc.com) has provided a handful of his pencils that you can print out and try your own inking skills on. You can find the printouts here: comicsforbegin...
I'm mainly a digital artist but it's true that if you get stuck undoing every line 3-4 times it really isn't that much faster. Sometimes to get digital lineart done that has been taking too long I have to print it out and bust out the microns or else I'll never finish.
Thanks for the insightful comment
Using a quill seems so antiquated and I used them for nearly a decade. So now it's strictly faber castle markers that don't fade when erasing like microns do.
Thank you,so useful. Very helpful
You're welcome!
Thanks
Thank you 😊 , helps a lot
Also I'm with you on 4:08 LOL
Why are you awake, Ian? Ha ha ha!
Btw, I saw your announcement.. Hope you don't press that button!
That looks like a unique grip on the sable brush you use. Is that specific to your technique, something you arrived at just for this?
Ha! No, I just hold my pencil in a weird way. Did a whole video on it. th-cam.com/video/dqMt1zyY5Ns/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3M5C6NKWxrY6tncQ
