Thank you so much for this video! I am a new driver. I start a new job in Costa Mesa soon and I just did my first test drive from Downey. I was very nervous about the change from 605 to 405 and I told myself to just keep to the left. So much so, that I ended up accidentally putting myself in the express lane, which I didn't even know existed! For the sake of safety I just kept driving until I was able to get out of there and arrived to Costa Mesa safely thanks God. Now at home, I kept asking myself what I did wrong, and how to prevent myself from getting into the express lane next time and I found your video! Thanks so much! I was able to revisit all my drive and realize what I should have done differently. I couldn't thank you enough! God bless you! 💜
Can't believe that the 405 express lanes are finally complete. I remember driving through that stretch of the 405 back in 2021 and I was annoyed with all the construction going on, so that's good that its done! Hopefully it will improve the flow of traffic, as the 405 is notorious for having horrible traffic Also coincidentally, I was visiting Irvine that same day you were filming, which is cool. Great video as always!
Your LA videos are honestly really cool, I love how they're adding more express toll lanes on their freeways these days! I,m sure they inspired several other states to do the same. Also, did you know that the Arroyo Seco Parkway is actually America's 1st full freeway? It opened in 1940, 16 years before the interstate highways.
Great drive! Did you know that Interstate 66 in Virginia is tolled (from Monday to Friday 5:30 AM to 9:30 AM Eastern time for eastbound and 3 PM to 7 PM Eastern time for westbound) for all lanes just west of Washington DC between exit 69 and exit 72? This requires E-ZPass to pay toll. And it is free if there's 3 or more people in the vehicle (driver included) and with E-ZPass Flex switch to HOV mode on (non-switchable E-ZPass tags is always paying mode even 3 or more people is in the vehicle) or traveling with motorcycles. Outside hours and weekends is free without E-ZPass.
It's a good thing the express toll lanes of the 405 in Orange County are complete. Imagine there's traffic on the local lanes of the 405 in Orange County for drivers travelling between Long Beach and San Diego, and you can use the express toll lanes to skip the traffic of the 405 and you can take the 73 to pay another toll, bypassing the El Toro Y.
The same goes for HOT lanes in Minnesota in St. Paul-Minneapolis area during peak hours Monday-Friday and E-ZPass (switchable tag) is required during peak hours to pay or HOV 2+ for free when it is set to HOV mode on, except for buses and motorcycles which are always free. Also on Virginia Express Lanes (66, 495, 95, and 395 Express Lanes, it is free if you have 3 or more people in the vehicle. E-ZPass is required), 77 Express Lanes in North Carolina, and I-95 Express Lanes in Maryland.
I’ve been on California state route 133 and this freeway would of been longer had it not ended at Laguna canyon road south of interstate 405. Why isn’t California state route 133 a freeway between Laguna canyon road in Irvine and pacific coast highway in Laguna Beach? Travel between Irvine and Laguna beach would be faster if the 7.8 miles of California state route 133 between The Pavona / Laguna canyon intersection in Irvine and pacific coast highway was a freeway through Laguna canyon.
Great video, but... In my opinion it was too fast at the beginning (about to 2:45). And two other great fews would be better in slower speed: (2:40-3:00 skycrapers) and (4.45-5:00 interchange). Sorry. I am just a viewer from Finland; motorway developing country 🙂

The construction on the 405 was fairly extensive for a long time. Thanks for the comment
Loving the California coverage! No matter how many times I watch these videos they never get old! Also oof for that 3 lane closure…
They were doing concrete repair work as part of the lane closure. Thanks for the comment.

California has quite a few sections of highway with express hill lanes. Thanks for the comment.
Great Footage Bro! Nice drive thru I-405.
It's always fun to see California freeways change over the years - I moved out of country 20 years ago and it all looks so different.

I did know that. Thanks for the comment

Bro the 110 freeway reminds me that is like a freeway that is little
Noticed the 110 has some new signs; some from its northern terminus to I-5 are duplicates, does anyone know why signs may be duplicated?

I don't understand why they'd take the HOV lane and make it an express tollway lane...! Makes no sense unless it's for revenue.
Or use that to fund a road and others.
