It was actually done by using a split screen.
First you record a video by placing an object (or a person in this case) in one side of the frame, and then record another one by moving the object to the other side.
In both videos crop out the empty half of the frame and join the two remaining halves together.
That way the object seems to appear in two different places at the same time! :)
In this video the halves were joined right at the centre of the frame and if you watch close enough, you'll see that I never cross the centre of the frame.
