honestly you should bring Craig and Matt in on this. doesn't seem like they're doing anything with DPC anymore, I know Craig said he joined a cover band, and there's nothing wrong with that, I'm assuming he wants to maintain his guitar work but doesn't want something that involves touring, and I think he's really more of a creative at heart and this is the sort of thing he really likes... remember when he did the whole month of "write a song each day" to get better at songwriting? I'm not sure what Matt's doing these days since he stopped making things for The Good Stuff, but I loved his writing for DPC, and I think it would be a shame if he never wrote anything again.
It's so, so fun! Also hearing you guys go through the process as ever is excellent. It gave me a crazy thought; One of you write song lyrics, the other compose song music. Meet the two in the middle and try to find a way to get them to both fit in the middle, build a song entirely out of two artist's compromises. Heck, maybe even revengeance it and swap places, the other write, the other muse afterwards and see if the experience from the first change your approaches.
Challenge Idea: put music to already written lyrics! I've noticed that lyrics seemingly always come last - would be interesting to see how you guys extract emotion and energy from lyrics and translate this into music. Edit: ignore Chat GPT and AI generated lyrics idea in comments!
I know it's not your main instrument, but I always like what you do with the bass Andrew. The lines are super effective, never too plain, never too busy, just what's needed and where it's needed. Very tasty! And once again, what a track! l'll never tire of seeing the creativity and spontaneity you two share! 🔥
I was just thinking, I loved that bit with Andrew on Bass and Rob on drums, that itself could have been a song for me, that bass line just hit the spot, but I have some personal bias hehe.
This song came out so good. I think that this show is a testament to the fact that songwriting is a skill that gets better with consistent practice. It reminds me of a quote by Tchaikovsky where he says (paraphrased), "I sit at the piano at 9am every day, and the Muses have learned to be on time".
I don't think that was part of the Beatles lore. certainly other bands that probably also recorded at Abbey road... there were the rumors about Boy George for example
I think this is the best song out of this entire series. Not that the other ones haven't been interesting and fun but this was incredible and that build-up at the end was so intense it gave me chills.
My favourite thing about the Jazzmaster whammy design is that it can bend up as well as down, in a way that sounds different from doing it on the fretboard (especially with chords). Fantastic intro, been wanting to put Tele style knobs on my JM for yeeears but this makes me want it even more!
I love how flexible these lyrics can be, they could be for addiction, getting over negative self talk, or a relationship. This song is lovely, thank you
Seeing Rob find confidence in his voice between the first FoO album and now has been really rewarding. Dude went from feeling like he could only do the more comedic tracks to having a genuinely outstanding voice has been great.

Well, this song is basically every emotion I've had over the last two weeks. I mean, obviously I'm biased, but I think this is some of your best work as artists. Real emotion put to music. I would really love to hear you guys kinda revisit your best tracks and make a real album out of them.

yeah it's so good that they're able to channel these emotions and apply them to situations that don't exist for them personally. I think bands that are unable to do that are the ones where you get the "one hit wonders" they're only able to write about things that actually affect them personally, and then when they're successful, suddenly they don't have anything to write about anymore.

It sounds vaguely like a Glen Phillips song, at least until the yelling bits. I could definitely see this being Toad the Wet Sprocket's New Constellation album. I love the style of the backing vocals on this one.

This song channels a relationship I had with a person who struggled with addiction. I cared a lot for this person but over time I realized I was chipping away at myself trying to save them and our relationship. I had to reluctantly break free. The end is much like any conversation we had about the subject that would inevitably end in a screaming match.
Yet another awesome song! Great job, guys. With the whole whammy bar theme, a guest appearance with Lachy Doley and his whammy Clavinet would've been a fun twist.
