Sowore said it best! Nigeria has to be rebuilt. I don't have any problem with the Lawyers but Democracy and the system of governance in Nigeria is just unsustainable.
Corruption will never end until we change the system of governance there by first dissolving the Congress (Senate & house of rep). With the senators and reps, nothing will get done. How can men who collect at least $40K per month want a change of system? We will remain on the current treadmill until the military takes over or we all get on the street to remove them or split the country.
There is nothing really wrong with splitting the country. In this day and age, if Nigeria is split, all divisions will be just fine. Don't think I'm crazy bcos a split might be the only option.

Falana may be right if we agree that jungle justice is a part of civilized democracy. But Falana will be wrong if we ask ourselves the following question: why is it so difficult for us to follow the rule of law if we so claim that we are a civilized people? I thought that Femi Falana is a human rights activist who would protect people (including Onoghen) from being judged unjustly (without passing through the rule of law) as he proposes to do now for Sowore.
Why are they afraid to pass through the rule of law if they so believe in democracy? Or is the presidency afraid that they wouldn't have enough evidence to back up their sinister plan against Onoghen? If not, then why circumvent the rule of law that they swore to uphold? It's supposed to be so simple and straightforward, but the Federal Government twisted the case to their own dark favour by bullshitting the law itself.
Truly, a lot is going on underground behind the Onoghen case. A lot of skeletons in the Presidency's cupboard, and we shall soon find out.

That aside, that a SAN will openly voice support for a flagrant disregard for the rule of law by the president against the chief judicial officer of the land just goes to show the level of decadence and deceit that Falana has fallen to? I agree with you, because issues should not be mixed up. If a Chief Justuce has money that cannot be accounted for in his account, there is a way to go about it. If the constitution says, government cannot remove the CJN without the approval of the Senate, there must be absolute compliance. @@adepojuoladayo2178: Femi Falana gave several interviews regarding this issue and his target each time was the then CJN Walter Onnoghen.
The point is not about his criticism of Onnoghen, the issue is, he did and he is still doing that at the detriment of the rule of law.
With Falana support of Buhari for undermining the rule of law doesn't look good for Sowore because he will need the rule of law to defend Sowore.
The question is, what rule of law is he going to use to defend Sowore; the fundamental rule of law or the Buhari rule of law which was applied to Walter Onnoghen?

Nigerian lawyers are split between ethnicity and political line which is so shameful, damaging and dangerous. The CJN can't account for millions found in his account yet his cohorts are defending him. Here in England if you can't account for a mere £1000. That is automatical sack / resignation no question ask.

The constitution is diabolically silent on how the CJN should be suspended or by who or the circumstances. It does not speak of modalities of suspension but of removal of the CJN which would have required the Senate or the NJC. The Supreme Court itself would have had a hard time interpreting the tactical omission in the constitution.
What the President did was neither legal nor illegal, just morally wrong in a democracy.

The ignorance Femi Falana had just exhibited shows that Sowore is in a big trouble for having him as his defence lawyer.
Falana justification of Onnoghen unconstitutional removal by Buhari invariably means that he is supporting the unconstitutional arrest and detention of Sowore by the same Buhari government.
He is also justifying the allegation that Sowore collected money/aid to topple the government of Buhari, with this I say good luck to Sowore in custody and a probably long prison term because of his lawyer undermining the rule of law.

    • @godfreyehi6806

Even after the FG has long failed to prove their case against Onnoghen, though the kangaroo CCT went ahead with the pre-written judgement. Falana is a dupe and probably an ethnic bigot. How else will a SAN support a vicious rape of the rule of law?

There is underlying quarreling between Mike and falana, the way and manner in which falana attacks Mike is becoming increasingly worrisome. He had done it during Late Gani symposium. This falana aided this government to grab power from PDP, he is now shouting they are not obeying the rule of law with one side of his mouth, and from other side he is supporting the removal of Onnoghen without due process, infact falana is one of the problem of NBA, judiciary and the entire nation. Look out the zeal with which he is pursuing El Zak Zaky and sowore's case because they are his client. He should stand for the truth always no matter from whose mouth it comes out from.

Falana has shown again that he is a scam. How else will a SAN openly support the president for unconstitutionally removing the chief law officer of the land over allegations that could not even be proven in court. And he is supposed to be advocate of the rule of law.

Falana is not mad, only trying to educate some of us that are too sentimental and not patriotic to our nation any more.

The Nigerian Judiciary has failed themselves. Precedent has been set and any President will wield the same force.
