I am just dying for Tablo to realize that his doppelganger (ok doppelganger is exaggerated :D) was in Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Also epik high made a song for that kdrama. The Crown prince Wang Moo was a mixture of Tablo and Haru. I was so shocked because of the similarity. For a second I questioned myself could it be him or not :D

I was learning Japanese with an ex and it too became such a pain trigger so I decided to learn another language first and come back to it later and next on my list was Korean. My tip is to choose another language until you are done grieving the loss. Netflix has great dramas in chinese for example which can give you a break from the trigger but still keep that open ear for new languages. What you have learned so far won't vanish, it just gets rusty but coming back to a rusty language gets revived really quickly so taking a break will not undo all the progress at all. If you were the more driven one to learn then your interest will conquer the pain, and once you can make friends in the new language you end up with new associations as well. Maybe even life changing opportunities. :) But first - grieve and mourn the loss whole heartedly. The fastest way to get better is to not fight it when sorrow hits like a tsunami and force yourself to at least eat.
I love Goblin and Abyss because they're crazy right off the bat so we know that we're in for a ride right from the start lol

One day i was scrolling my facebook page when I saw this movie clip about a robbery with a hacker and beautiful effect , poping out of nowhere. I search the title because I wanted to know what would happen next: will they steal something again? Is it for a spy mission? ... Turn out it only last the 30 first minute of the first episode and turn into... a MERMAID STORY! (yes, i'm talking about "the legend of the blue sea") Anyway even though I was desappointed i watch the full thing. It was my first drama! It was way to cliché but at the same time unexpected that i kept looking for other drama.

Complete side note, but Tablo would lowkey be a really good standup comedian. He already has the stage experience, he just needs to get up there with no beat and tell some stories. I can imagine him doing something like Hasan Minhaj's homecoming king where there's a lot of small stories that culminate to his overall life and having this huge tearjerking moment at the end. He already makes a ton of jokes and references, I would settle for a book!

I approve, kdrama take you away from the pain of everything else, that's pretty much the reason i just keep watching
My advise for the person who sent in his concern would be for hime to actually visit Korea. That way he is immersed in a new environment, in survival mode, and associating Korea with new experiences all while improving his Korean. But yea, watching dramas and other cultural shows would be great too in a smaller scale.
Connect the language to something else rather than that person. That's what I was thinking too.
Tablo's suggestion is actually what i did before to overcome my last serious break up. Pure Love where Ilwoo was a grim reaper help a lot when I wanted to cry but I didn't want my friends and family to think i was crying about my ex.

I'd love to hear an episode all about Korean dramas! Kdramas were what got me interested in Korean culture and the language. The first Korean word I ever learned was 사랑해 just from watching Korean dramas! 😂🤟🏼

K dramas are still better compared to other language dramas. They are short, they have different genres like suspense, rom com ,sci fi, thriller, crime , college romance, historic etc.. Me an Indian after watching 250+ dramas. Haven't watched a single Indian soap in more than a decade😂
I just finished watching a kdrama, I cried my eyes out. But I now feel better. A good cry cleans the soul.

Dude I never learned korean formally like EVER, I only learned through dramas and variety shows and I haven't found significant problem in communicating with my korean friends. I even do some translations as well. Cheer up, you! Go get your heart healed with their dramas

I randomly came across my first kdrama more than ten years ago and I’ve never gone back lol
For me i got into kpop, than that brought me to K drama and even Korean hip hop, indie etc...
I always get into things like shows/movies and music with Latin, European, Asian etc...
Like That K-drama “Chocolate” .. Verrry Good Drama BTW, hands down.. buut “Ahhi Diossss Mio..” every1 kept dying including the kidd 😭 an the chick lost her sense of taste an the surgeons hand kept shaking.. 🥴 an i was like..?? wasnt this suppose to be a Love Story?? 🤷🏻♂️
