Chris Wall of Prestige Tuning and Motorsport is easily one of New Zealand's leading, and busiest, EFI Tuners. In this episode of HPA's 'Tuned In' we're going to talk about how he got started with tuning, his time working with Andre at STM (the tuning shop from which HPA was born) along with insight into how to get started, and more importantly how to be the best tuner you can.
Some other topics also discussed in this in-depth episode focus around Chris's trackside support role he offers to some customers, how he guides customers to make the best choices they can for their ECU and tuning upgrades for their application, when reflash tuning is better than fitting an aftermarket ECU, the future of reflash tuning, what motorsport disciples are the hardest on gear and much much more than we can fit in a description, so have a listen.

Those fuel filters can be there for 200,000km. Ask me how I know hahaha

I agree about not needing to blow up motors to learn how to tune. I began tuning on my own car and eventually almost a dozen others of my mates without a mishap. I just take my time and never push the limits unless everything is right.

Would you like pops and bangs with that sir?
Individual (or any) throttles that give zero vac. at 30% opening are too big for the unit. We aim for 70-75% throttle to equal 100 ish Kpa
Solid advice guys, great to listen to.

But ITB engines like the RB26TT reach zero vac at throttle percentages in the high 30% range. Do you consider those throttle bodies too big? Not disagreeing...I genuinely want to know.

@@coollee303Under initial acceleration the engine will demand more air than the THROTTLE, at say 30% will flow, causing vacuume. Depending on turbo sizing, if the engine is working against a load, 30% torque demand would create enough energy to drive the turbo sufficiently to make positive pressure.
