We have a Sam's club membership. Hubby likes to pick up a chuck roll from Sam's occasionally and portion it out into several different cuts for the freezer (there's youtube videos that go over the different cuts you can get from a chuck roll). We end up with some of the most flavorful beef you can find for a relatively low price per pound. 😋
yes and zucchini very easy to grow and get large crop- just be sure to rotate where you grow each year. thank you.
I've been concerned for three years about beef.I learned to pressure can just to keep meat. I have not been turning down any meat, esp. beef, on enough of a sale.I canned recently, but got an extra freezer, too.
I hope that you will feel better soon.
Very wise money saving tips. Thank you and God Bless.
Question about the lentils: do you ever “purée” the lentils to blend into the ground beef? And do you have a recipe to make meatballs, patties or meatloaf using the blend? (Concerned about sticking together and not falling apart)
I haven't tried that, but it's a great idea! I don't have a recipe specifically for meatballs using this blend, but I do a simple, 3-ingredient meatball:
- 1 lb meat
- 1/4 cup Italian dressing
- half (or whole) sleeve of Ritz crackers, crushed up
Thank you
Thank you for the great advice.
I liked the idea of stretching with lentils. We get lentils from our food pantry and I don't really know what to do with them. Extending beef is perfect. I assume they add other nutrition as well.
Currently in my state chicken is more expensive than beef hard to believe but true.
Don't you think that if they are losing grazing land they would be trying to dump their castle so they don't have to buy feed? That would drop beef prices. Now if it was wiping out herds that would create a beef shortage and prices would climb.
Unfortunately,it was not just the land that burned; it was an uncounted amount of cattle, including heifers about to calve. It's the war on food. The US Forest Service was ready to go in and help, but Texas never asked for them.
@@tonette6592Why is Texas so intractable?! They did that during the grid collapse and people died from lack of power!! 😥😡
@@YT4Me57 I hope that you are lookng into everything that is going on in the country and the world. Things that almost anyone would have considered 'tinfoil hat' theories are here or coming. Texas is just working with the governments, lots of bad is coming, or here. Prepare, and look into everything. I did, only a couple of years ago, and after sorting through all kinds of views snd information, I decided thawe must know, cwe must learn, we must prepare to do what we can to help ourselves, our families and whoever else God puts in our lives. Be strong, be prepared as well as you can. It will not be the end of thd world for you if you do.
I'm single with no children, but I purchase beef chuck at Costco and cut it into portions at home. I then vacuum seal the portions and freeze them. The meat will last for months because I may eat pot roast once every other month. Then that roast lasts for a few days (dinner and lunch). Thank you for the tip about adding zucchini and carrots to stretch ground beef and adding beef bullion to ground turkey. Brilliant!😊
Great tips! :)
