Wow What a daunting task to migrate to Australia. I have been living in Australia for decades as Australian citizen but I had never gone through the Australian migration process luckily. I migrated to New Zealand long time ago after graduated from an Australian univerity. After I got my NZ passport, I booked a one way ticket from NZ to Australia. I got my Australia PR status the day I landed onto Australia soil with my NZ passport. After two years, I applied for my Australian citizen without any issue. I think the similar rule still applies today between NZ and Australia citizen when you can come in through the backdoor like I did.

They have resumed the old rule but I think New Zealanders now need to live in Australia more than 2 years before they are allowed to apply for Australian citizenship. As a result of change or rule last year, around 50,000 have left NZ for Australia for goods in last 12 months. It is a serious concern for NZ as there is a real big brain drain from NZ to Australia as Australia offer bigger opportunity, better pay, lower crime rate, lower cost of living compared to NZ.
@@paulineluar-workeattraveli1931 I knew because I did not want to go through the strict point system and prefer the easier back door. And it works well. I cannot answer people how the Australian migration point system worked as I did not know.
@@erictang4798 As long as the corrupt and incompetent Australian Federal Labor Party is in power, New Zealanders may come to settle in Australia in such a short time. However, there is the Federal election before May next year, the Coalitions may terminate this route. Just wait and see. And with costs of living, depending on where you are going to live in Australia, if you live in Sydney, it is much higher than anywhere in NZ as we travelled to NZ last year and the year before (plus many times in the past decades). It is cheaper. Just look at the house prices and say no more.
It still takes longer to get Australia PR and citizenship than it is in UK. Sydney is one of the best places to live in the world. It is correct that the weather here is beautiful with good food and a lot of great restaurants. It is quite multicultural. It is still not easy for Hong Kong people to migrate to Australia and if you are over 45 years old, just forget about it. They have even canceled the “Golden” visa and therefore, you cannot come here to get PR /citizenship just because you have over HKD$25M spare cash. However, it is still a certainty to get PR if a young Hong Konger comes here to study a bachelor /master degree from a government recognized university, then stay four years after that. And by the time you apply for PR, you need to be under 50 years of age. Therefore, one needs to be around early 40‘s and under when they take up this PR route. Not easy.

我是在英國讀大學。那是多年前畢業後沒法在英國留下。返香港後加拿大和澳洲也批了PR. 當然選了澳洲不選加拿大。澳洲當然比英國富有，生活質素高一大截。除非你在倫敦做financial services 否則英國沒什麼比得上澳洲悉尼。
當年十幾歲第一次往英國讀書人生路不熟，在希斯路機場被英國入境處粗魯地趕往other passport 時記憶猶新。到我25 歲以獨立技術移民PR 入境Sydney, 在入境counter 澳洲關員跟我說welcome home 的時候，我就以這美麗的國家為家。
我也有BNO. 但驕傲而又窮困的英國，讀了幾年書，付了海外學費後，亂七八糟的英國，我深知道這不會是我要移居及退休的地方。

我都係14年左右打算離開香港，最初想話過台灣，之後改變主意改為泰國，最後BNO出咗就計劃英國，之後加拿大又有救生艇，但經過詳細研究評估風險後最後決定英國，不過其實最想去美國同澳州。

You probably did that long long time ago. Nowadays, New Zealanders can‘t easily get Australia PR and citizenship any more.
However, you also did the long route by migrating to NZ first before settling in Australia. This is not a straight/direct route.

最近去咗墨爾本同悉尼,係第一次去,街度D人碰口碰面都係亞洲面孔,聽到好多普通話。唔睇淨聲仲以為自己身處好多中國人嘅Chinatown 添😅真係估唔到咁多中國人響澳洲。英國就好耐未去過喇,遲D會去,我比較鐘意英國嘅文化氣色,不過宜架應該多咗好多難民,唔時變成點。
