i love how respectful but honest you are when you disagree with people. too many creators will bash on others for not believing the exact same things in the exact same way as they do and it’s exhausting to see

I work with Loki, my spells don't 'backfire' they just work in mischievous ways 😂 the spell doing something unexpected is just my misunderstanding of the workings of the universe and my ego influencing my expectations. I'm not going to tell my deities, my subconscious and the universe that they did it wrong and impacted me negatively! I just need to roll with the change that comes with the spell, that change usually results in what I asked for, even if its not in the form I intended

I bet your spells with him can work in mischievous ways 😂. I work with him too, and I always feel this wonderment at how it will all play out. For me, he tends to give me what I need especially if I dont know that I need it. Often I can be upset with what happens, but eventually I see what he did! In what ways is he mischievous with you?

As a practioner with OCD, it typically effects me in: Oh, that god/godess wants me to get out of my chair, and they'll get mad if I don't do it! Or, in tarot, "Maybe I chose the wrong card?" And then it starts spiraling. It's hard to focus on your intuition with OCD because of the repetitive movements. (I can't speak on everyone's behalf, this is just my experience.)

When I first began my journey I bought a book with “1000 spells” one of the spells was, no exaggeration, “Bully-wully, chips-oh-tea. Pick your nose, but not on me.” And then it instructed that the spell caster point a wand at the bully 😭

You could use chamomile to hex somebody into feeling languid and unmotivated. And you could use ginger to calm by getting it to bring all you anxious or angry energy to the surface and "burn" through it to get out of the way!
Don't know whether these suggestions would actually work, but My brain likes the challenge of trying to come up with ideas! 😂 I think you probably could use anything for any purpose if you were creative enough and flexible enough with the way you wanted to achieve your ends. But sometimes the route might be a lot less pleasant or a lot for effort than just using a different item that is more naturally suited, or even just sticking to mundane methods, like the ginger example above where it would probably be more pleasant for everyone to just use chamomile to calm the situation. Just because something *can* be done doesn't mean it's a good idea to do it!

I work a lot with deities, especially Goddesses, and i o it in a way that is open to those who have a "Jungian" approach, seeing deities as archetypes within themselves and/or the collective unxonscious, and those who believe, like you, they are seaparate beings. Having said that, in my opinion, you should always approach deities with respect and appreciation in any case. It also honours not only them, but the sanctity of your own being and your own practice. ❤

Lukewarm take: Always consider practical realities in your spiritual or magical practice. Re the take on charging moon water: Unless you're boiling your moon water every time you make it or otherwise frequently (moon tea?), don't just keep adding more water, because there are more things in the water than one molecule of oxygen, two molecules of hydrogen, and some moon energy. There are also microbes and minerals and possibly human-introduced chemicals (rain has to pass through the whole polluted environment to get to you). Water can go stale, and things grow in it, and it evaporates and leaves behind solid deposits. You should be using up your moon water or pouring it out and cleaning the container regularly - which would then require making more moon water.

the deities and spirits are not our pets thing is so true. For example, I see people insinuating that deities do things that i genuinely can’t believe they would do. What do you mean you watch the office with them? and what do you mean Apollo begs for a Baja Blast from taco bell 😭 I mean, who am I to deny others personal experiences, but it just comes off as weird and a bit funny to me.

I agree that it seems there are more "noticable" Americs creators and honestly UK as well, and less from other countries. Personally I really enjoy hearing English with an accent and learning about witchcraft in other Countries/regions. I wonder if people think it isn't relevant to their craft since it isn't from their "country". I believe that we can all learn from each other and if we want to, incorporate it into our own practice. I watched the discussion between you and Olivia about snow magic and became obsessed lol. I ran with the information of "melting" negative thoughts, moods, and personal talk. I can honestly say that it changed my personal way I think of myself which changed they way I thought of and how I talked to others. Loved it!! I have wanted to start a channel but feel that people will think im not "aged" enough in the craft so I would not have interesting or intelligent ideas or suggestions. I have a ton of ideas all the time and would love to have someone to bounce the ideas back and forth with. Unfortunately I am a solitary practitioner who does not have anyone even remotely close. Which is one reason I love the creators on TH-cam. Even though it is unlikely this will even be read by someone who would entertain the idea of engaging in a discussion with me, it still gives me a way to put my thoughts and ideas I have out there. Maybe, just maybe someone will see it and feel the same. But love this channel and enjoying finding more newer creators.

I always make sure to point out that something is my personal experience and that no one's personal experience is more or less valid that anyone else's. It's unique to you and things happen in a way that is best suited to your personality and understanding which may or may not be suited to someone else's perception and understanding (now or in the future), so ever saying that this or that is the only way or is generally applicable is not only unhelful, but also disrespectful and not taking into account our individuality, uniqueness and needs at any one given time. Spiritual work of any kind is all about finding your own path and connection with yourself and the divine, spirit's, etc. There may be commonalities, but you just cannot assume that there are always and for everyone. So it's important to put into context that whatever you say is or is not personal gnosis/experience, in my opinion. ❤

    It's pronounced roo-be-os tea.
One issue I have is with creators who say to always work clockwise or clockwise is the path of the sun. True for the northern hemisphere but when you live in the southern hemisphere, it's the other way round. Anti clockwise is following the sun. Creators seem to forget social media is global, not saying they have to be inclusive, just saying to remember to say things like working clockwise is for living in the N.H.

This is great. Love the tea. Kinda love this theme because we need to be able to call people out or talk about things that aren't great and not always pretending everything is fine.
When it comes to content creation, I do make some. But it feels hollow. I'd love to be able to have discussions and have theory and philosophy, but I always get hung up on "why would anyone want to know what I'm going to say".

21:30 I love this question! I myself have been specifically interested in crystals for so long (my entire practice! Also it’s what got me into witchcraft from the start) that I now work with them in many situations and actually I’m realizing ALL of my spellwork, they’re always around me when I practice and I’ve used them with many different intentions. I have used them for love & light type stuff and also baneful workings too. So I totally agree!

I don´t do magic, I´m not a witch and while I have nothing against witches (y'all are cool), I don´t like being lumped in with a community, I don´t belong in.

Actually, looking at the Greek pantheon alone, several deities like Zeus and Athena have names like Soter or Soteira which means "Savior" (though this usually means "savior from an actual disaster"). Not to mention, there is a soteirological aspect of the religion such as the mysteries of Gods like Dionysos and Persephone. That being said, no, none of the Gods are going to come and take away your personal accountability because you have the correct opinion about Them

Nature is naturally diverse. It makes sense that if there are Gods, there would be many that look different, belong to different regions/ pantheons/ control different things.
I don't really work with deities but those are some of my thoughts on the topic.

Englisch it eine imperialistische Sprache! Honestly a pet peeve of mine too. As an American who speaks four languages there is a difference in mentality between polyglots and monolinguals...

    • @TirzaTheSmilingGoddess
      @TirzaTheSmilingGoddess 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

When I was living in London, UK, (I'm German), I had an Italian friend/flatmate whi studied Spanish and German translation and linguistics, who told me a few things about her studies. One thing was that you can tell from a language a lot about the culture, mentality and societal structure of the people speaking it. She gave me some examples, and I found that super interesting. And true. I believe that diversity (not only in language) is a wonderful thing and learning about different ways of looking at the world or living your life broadens your horizons a lot, regardless of whether you agree, like something or even take it on for yourself or not. There is also a theory about sound vibrations that says, the different languages create a balance globally on the vibration of the earth as a whole, so it's important for all languages to be spoken to maintain that vibrational balance. I'm not a physicist or scientist but it kind of felt to me that it made sense. I found that very interesting, too, knowing how sounds and frequencies can affect you individually. So languages, sound, frequencies and cultural/mentality differences and how they are connected is a topic I don't know too much about, but find really interesting. ❤

    • @Genasinsight
      @Genasinsight 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

@TirzaTheSmilingGoddess Yes! I think so too. Culture and language go hand in hand. The history of English, however, is rooted in colonialism. Domination comes with colonialism. Unfortunately here in the States many people don't bother learning languages, and are even entitled to demand that everyone speak English because well, that's our official language. That mentality has roots in racism. We have so many Spanish speakers here. Spanish needs to be the 2nd official language. We basically live alongside one another not understanding each other. It allows America to oppress people who don't speak English. Also being the language of business, English speakers don't need to learn other languages because everyone else learns English! When I went to Germany I made all my German peers speak only German with me. :) I speak French too, and they value their language in this way that if you try to learn it they will invite you into the fold. Americans can be willfully ignorant. Tons of us are undereducated. They'll say: "I don't mind immigrants, but they need to learn English!" They don't understand the beauty of speaking another language, how it opens doors and creates connections. It also makes you wiser, and gives you more perspective.

Hi ! I'm here while after the the uploading of this video but still, I wanted to answer about the "english speaker community". As a french pactionner, it's really rare to find youtube creators who are not from USA or UK as you said. Knowing you are german feels really fresh to me ! Following people from the same country or neighbour countries help to feel more roots to them, I think. I follow some french witches but same : their channel are so hard to find because so deeply hidden by the algorithm !
And your english is brillant !

Oooo.... I suppose in a hex Chamomile could be used as the catalyst of the thing that will enact the spell's effect? It's cruel, perhaps, but say you use Chamomile and Clove points. The pain (cloves) would be inflicted from something or someone that the individual sees as comforting (chamomile) - or it will strike them when they feel relaxed/comfortable/safe.
Damn. That feels like a real 'experience what you did to me' sort of thing, if someone you trusted and felt safe with is your target due to betrayal of that trust and safety.

Oooh, here's a hot take I guess: while I definitely lean a lot more towards hard polytheism, I hold an element of softness in there too. I think the gods can be their own individual beings while also being seen as facets of a greater collective. Kind of like how you can approach an individual oak tree as its own being or you can call on the collective spirit of all oak trees. I see monotheists as worshipping the collective as one cohesive being while polytheists obviously worship multiple individuals from the collective, or "facets of a greater whole" as a monotheist might look at it. This also leaves space for people to worship individual sun, war, or storm gods as one cohesive sun, war, or storm god. Your mileage may vary of course, but that's my take on it!

I was called "stupid" on Facebook because of a begginer question that I started with "I know it will problably sound silly to some people, but...".
I was (still am) looking for my spiritual path but I'm so keen on Norse Heathenry. I uploaded a picture of my new beautiful Fenrir necklace and one guy told me I should be ashamed to worhip Fenrir because he is the reason of Odin's death.
I used to be an atheist, very scientific way of thinking as I studied Biology and I kind of use that mindset to not take everything as a fact, just to take notes and keep the info that resonates the most with me.
I took your advise and I studied my local flora (the Plantnet app is very useful, you guys!) And I found GOLD!! The bushes that are all around my building is called "fire thorn"! And a tree is called "love tree"! Do you need more signals? 😂
Sorry about the long text, as a newbie I needed to rant about some stuff, and to thank you for your advises. I love your content, your way to explain certain concepts, and, most of all, that you are open to have a conversation with very different POV, because there is when you learn the most!!!!

❤I would like to address the over-abundance of North American content creators from my own personal perspective. As a Canadian who only gets their witchy content from TH-cam and books, half of the creators that I follow are from outside of this continent: Ella Harrison, Hearthwitch, Norse Magic and Beliefs, and of the incomparable Norse Witch (you) are my go-to creators! I seek out a Euro centric group of creators as a way to touch base on my long-past European roots. That said, when it comes to people who use local ingredients, I have no choice but to watch people who are geographically closer to me.
When I want to explore seiđr and galdr traditions, I seek out people from those cultural backgrounds, like yourself and Norse Magic and Beliefs. When I want to delve into my UK pagan roots, I go to Hearthwitch. It's nearly impossible to find any creators talking about genuinely original magickal practices from Southern France due to the lack of written language before the spread of the Roman Empire, Visigoth invasions, Viking raids and general upheaval from nearly endless wars from c 500CE to the fall of the Romans and Vikings who assimilated and merged their cultures with the Indo-European Celts.
So we're stuck grasping at straws and piecing together the scattered remains of what may or may not still exist. Even trying to find the origins of my family name is a headache, being that it was originally a title up until the 6th century, and from where THAT came is questionable.
So we make due with our lemons, spell jars and borrowed deities because we simply don't have much of a choice. As a white man, I can't really practice traditional Native American magic as that would be appropriation, and we don't really have a tradition of using hag stones like my ancestors did in the UK. We have to make stuff up and hope that it works.
The closest thing I have to my traditions is Scots-Irish Appalachian magic that adapted traditions from our ancestors homelands to their new surroundings in the Americas.
That's why I believe that there's such a presence of American people and culture in social media. We're trying to reconnect with our tattered and mixed pasts while use local products and new techniques. We love all you guys around the world, and people from different cultures tend to reach out to those who may be distant relatives😅

I have... a weird way of communicating with deities. I would write down my questions, things like "is someone here with me?" When I have that specific feeling of not being alone.
Recently it meant that Loki and Odin paid a visit, for whatever reason, with Loki being that one supportive, chaotic but somewhat sweet friend (that really dislikes the other Aesir, including Odin) and then Odin, being all like... that mentor figure, somewhat fatherly in nature?
Truth be told, I still find it very, VERY weird. From what I understood, apparently I have great potential??
It keeps weirding me out, man- sometimes they confuse the bananas out of me with what they say! 😅
Very strange indeed. I'm still getting used to it. My gods. Makes me anxious sometimes. 😅

I have another pet peeve. When people say: They (pre-christian Scandinavians) didn't have a construction of race. I think that's a "White" American thing to say to absolve ourselves of colonizer guilt. People say this without evidence and take it as fact. We know that they kept slaves and perpetuated class and heirarchies. We have found evidence that Vikings had multi-racial backgrounds indicating that POC were accepted, but I don't buy that they didn't see the differences between people. Maybe they didn't use race as a way to discriminate, but I'm pretty certain they noticed differences based on looks and culture.

Quite a hot take rate there. Truth is, publishers don't want you to state it as UPG, because they like facts and inclusiveness over UPG. Because they think it won't sell if it has any UPG in it. So they kind of force you to state it as fact over UPG when the editors begin proof reading whatever it is you have written.
When in reality, publishers are missing out on an entire market, those who are eclectic and willing to try nearly all things at least once to see if it works for them too or not. And in my wholehearted opinion, and I'm sure you would agree, I think publishers need to be more open to the idea of all UPG, SPG, and VPG because the eclectic community can confirm and deny whether this or that works or not and would in the end give us a lot more to work with than we now have. Stating each clearly when and where deemed necessary in each source so the reader is informed about what they're either and/or both getting themselves into and what to possibly expect beforehand. Stating something as UPG, SPG, or VPG would actually make the source more factual and credible in the end and people wouldn't have to continue to play Russian Roulette when it comes to wanting to try something. It's sad when you have to say it like that but it's true nonetheless.
For anyone reading this that doesn't know what SPG or VPG are, they are Shared Personal Gnosis, and Verified Personal Gnosis, respectfully. Shared Personal Gnosis is when two or more people discover they have each genuinely experienced the same thing which gives it quite a bit more credibility. You usually find beginner or source books written by those who have either founded or are a member of a coven to have a good share of SPG in them and with a healthy portion of VPG as well. And if the SPG they are sharing in the source they have written works for them and their entire coven and its members individually each on their own, there's a pretty high and likely chance, it will also work for you. Moreover, SPG can fall into either camp, UPG and VPG depending on where it's coming from. Simply because SPG can be the shared experience of a coven and therefore is the UPG of the group because its not found anywhere else, but I would still put a heck of a lot more weight on SPG over strict one person UPG. With a one person UPG experience, if I ever decide to try it for myself at all, I'm not expecting much at first unless I see some results afterward; then I just might try it again if I witness some results to see if I can verify it a second or more times to confirm it as SPG because now more than one person has experienced it and not just the author.
Verified Personal Gnosis on the other hand is when an experience is had that can be found within longstanding reputable sources; VPG is not just UPG, in fact it's SPG that's been shared by so many so much over the course of history, that it's now considered to be not just factual, but instead evidential (i.e. something that's evidential, is something that has a lot of facts supporting it, and/or has been witnessed so much that it's basically near concrete undeniable at that point; for example, a fingerprint is a fact but not evidence, you would need more things outside of the fingerprint or more fingerprints from different areas to support a claim of what is thought to be evident; to put it another way, the evidence is the claim itself, the facts are what supports the potential evidence). Usually reputable sources are historical sources that have been confirmed and affirmed time and time again, or otherwise the source/s are founded upon historical sources outside and independent from themselves that basically are saying the same thing but maybe in a different way. In other words, the source/s founded upon historical sources are just more affirmation saying "Yep, this works" except it might have its own flare on it in the new source/s. But, with having said all of that, as Ocean Keltoi once said, "Everything that we now have today once started as UPG." For a lack of better terms, you throw out what seems to be a one time experience for one person or what seems to work for only one person or what seems to work for only a single group, and keep what seems to work endlessly for everyone.
And as a final note I'm a Hard Polytheist too. And I agree, and concur, with what you said. But to add to what you said; the whole Soft Polytheist mentality, at least for the modern day, is mostly coming from Theosophy. And anyone who has studied Theosophy to any extent whatsoever, would find it quite questionable, considering its origins. Theosophy is the religion or spirituality that states, "All the gods are one god, all the goddesses are one goddess, and there's one initiator," that was originally stated by Dion Fortune who was a Theosophist; so in reality, anyone who says those words or anything similar to them, is just parroting what Dion Fortune said and without having realized it have fallen into a Theosophical belief system and is a part of the New Age Movement and Religion, and therefore no closer to Paganism, Witchcraft, and Polytheism as a whole and might well choose a Monotheistic religion to get it over with (i.e. many who make such statements, or believe such things, usually have a Christian background and it's the only way due to there extensive religious trauma they can reconcile what they're experiencing; and they usually also have a lot of Christian undertones in the things they think, feel, do, say, and believe).

Loved this Bente! Great hot takes and pet peeves. I love hearing the thoughts of the community. It is so true that so many astral travel books say different things 🫣 and some contrasting things - a lot of it is UPG unless they talk about the scientific aspects of it - there's room for nuance tho of course as two seemingly opposing things can be true simultaneously. I do have to say thank u for speaking to the fact that smaller creators aren't seen so much. 🙏 as someone whose been creating on YT for nearly 5 years I do feel this and as I watch and love a lot of smaller channels I know how much gold and experience and wisdom those practitioners have. I have also discovered some amazing voices via the #occultea tag which I loved and I mentioned some of those creators in my response too. I also def want to see more representation for marginalised and minority communities ❤ 🙏 Appreciate your voice ✨

Thanks for this video; it gave me lots to think about. I politely disagree with the hot take about people treating deities as pets. I believe Deities are omniscient, omnipresent spiritual beings. As such, I believe they could hypothetically decide to take a trip to Starbucks with you since they can be everywhere simultaneously without harming their ability to be anywhere else. Do they actually do this? Probably not that often, but I have had deities randomly interject themselves into my day-to-day life to share their own two cents about something I was doing, watching, or reading. Apollo in particular, has a sense of humor and will randomly pop in to share his opinions. You can feel your deities in the things they represent too, without them having to take the time to directly communicate or send signs. I feel Apollo in the sunlight, I feel Aphrodite in the beauty of the natural world and in the feeling of love I get when caring for my dog. Little things like that that show they are always with you and that you are never alone. Same with deceased loved ones.

I’m guilty of yelling at my guides. But my guides are a very specific and bold species of spider. I’ve been reluctantly working with them for over a decade (they chose me) but they have house rules and for the most part they are respectful and follow the rules. When they cross those boundaries, I need to be as bold as they are. Lol.

Being someone who understands the definition of a word as an English major also as a pagan who practices my own beliefs without others, I have to say someone who says there's a specific way to practice paganism has no idea the definition of the word. Pagan is simply not one of the main religions; any other religion or mix is a pagan. Pagan itself is not a religion it is a category to define other religions. If someone practices Wicca and has some Catholic beliefs they are a pagan, period. Catholic beliefs can be mixed in as a Pagan since it also covers personal beliefs of religious practice. It so is my pet peeve that people make up the definition from both sides when tbere is a definitive dictionary definition for this word. I believe in God doesn't meaan I'm not Pagan nor does it have to do with the Catholic beliefs. I just personally believe God is any all-father/mother so Odin, Ra, Gaia, Zeus, so on, all the same being just given a different name throughout time and locations. My belief no one else's. Same for the other gods are the angels. Every angel rules over something individual just like the other gods do. That belief means I'm pagan even believing in 'God'.

I enjoyed your thoughts on diversity and i agree we need more diversity. From a personal perspective accent does have an impact i think when listening to people's video's its like when you listen to an audio book, sometimes you could love the book but just not get along with the voice of the person reading it.
I follow some great US witchy content creator's but i have to say that personally I prefer the sound of your voice, I also really like The Witches Cookery. I'm actually from the UK and not sure why but I just prefer your type of accent to US accent 🤷‍♀️ no disrespect to any US people as I'm sure my Yorkshire accent would grate on many people 😂

Loving the video, but I disagree with the take that people don’t really need protection if they are not to exposed or living in a respectful manner. Maybe it’s dependant on personnal belief and practices but, as in my belief system people are protected by guides and spirit, not always love and light and can also display very aggressive and curse-like energy just by breathing, I feel like having a solid protection or at least a routine of assessing yourself and your space, as well as pets. Respect can be pretty subjective and you don’t need to call yourself a witch to have influence on the world around you. (Speaking from personnal experience and from my surroundings)

I was believing theoretically that all gods were just one god , but then I thought how could that be because there are land spirits and they are different per region , what made me rethink this was a Taoist monk acquaintance of mine that is now long gone but he was raised as a child in China before the Japanese invaded and burn all the teaching books and scripts, he was taught as a child all of there martial arts and spiritual practices and deviation which included with the land spirits and other entities , anyway when the other Taoist priests during the Japanese invasion long ago gave him many scrolls and told him to head to the US which he did , when he got he he couldn't contact any of those spirits , but this made me rethink what I first believed because I actually never went to deep in that thought , every area has different beings ,spirits and other things some areas a person can communicate with them easier than other areas, as for Gods I am not sure about it because i have never been able to communicate with any Gods , spirits yes but Gods never in my 45+ yrs of practising many different belief systems I am not saying they do not exist they just don't seem to want to communicate with me, and I am not worthy or am I expecting some grand thing to happen ? Going back to my Taoist acquaintance he said that once he reached China town the spirits he used in China seemed to be in that area with all the people from China , I am thinking that this is possibly or it maybe was also because of the belief that made it more possible meaning the more people the stronger it is . I have been to haunted locations that didn't even have spirits, but people were being scratched and apparently pushed things through at them like rocks , objects moving ( I never witnessed any objects' movie of the pushes I did seee scratched but I that could be from many things ) moving around this was actually caused from the energy of the people believing that there were evil ghosds and the more people that came the worse it got , much like Poltergeists the places I have been to had one thing ion common a young teenage girl who was going through puberty that is a lot of energy that can cause things to happen radios turning on and off or TVs changing Chanels I am talking about modern day tec not the old school analog, lights flickering things falling off of walls . that the energy of the teen plus the energy come from the other people that are afraid, also being sensitive I could feel that energy but it wasnt like spirit or similar energy iot was more of people energy like walking into a room right after a huge argument you walk in and feel it but notice nothing else . when I was a child I was mentally attacked from negative spirits and that energy is thick and heavy like trying to breath through a pillow over the face . Anyway if a person hasn't been around these types of things they wouldnt know what I am speaking of I went through the same thing as a child witnessed more than a few throughout my life it wasnt constant but it did make me pay much more attention and probably if the reason whey I can sense energy and read people pretty well .
and I went way over board with my post I apologize for the wall of words and spelling and grammar mistakes

I don t think that talk abillity came from just high IQ , that is more from confidense , and you have a lot of confidense !
