Agree. Please tell us, Mimei if it works or not.Have the same problem like you, migranes is an as***** and sometimes I feel so sick that I must hug the toilet. I have headaches since ...I think I was 4 or 5 years old, really not funny. Maybe this could also help me (and many others) and when I'm in Tokyo again I would do the same.

My daith is the piercing I get the most compliments on, everyone is always so impressed with the heart there! Wearing earbuds was pretty impossible while it was healing but once its healed you can kinda pivot it out of the way and it doesn't bother me too much. Apple earbuds are actually some of the most comfortable for me to wear with it (but every ear is different so idk)

I think the reason people say it helps with migraines is because of the pressure points in the ear? But honestly when the piecing heals it won’t be putting pressure on the point anymore so I highly doubt it will do anything in the long run. But at least you have a super cute piercing~ I’m going to get mine done as well!

I used to get frequent migraines and I ended up getting daith piercings, not for that reason though, and I did notice it has significantly reduced them. I think it has to do with it being on a specific acupuncture site. On a side note I had a piercing on my ears that lay on an acupuncture site that apparently triggers more anxiety and negative feelings. So my acupuncturist at the time told me to remove the earring for a month to test it out, to see if my mood improved. It did in fact make me less anxious and after that I never put back the earring. She told me the earring was blocking the flow of energy.

MiMi. Check out your body bone alignment. I have done this to help with my migraine.
The doctor scanned my body and the X-ray showed that I need to correct my bone alignment.
The physiotherapist made me do a lot of exercises and after 8 months with the new X-ray 90% of the pain I had went away.
This means you will need to exercise as per the therapist to correct the muscle and alignment.
There are also few meds in the beginning that was given to me to smooth things out. Once respond I’ll type you their names.
    Kind regards

I'm late but I have extreme chronic migraines (24/7 for the past 4 years at about a level 8-9/10 for pain) and I got both mine done about a year and a half ago? and it helped a small bit (which when its that bad for so long is a BLESSING!) but after the initial healing was over so like 2 weeks tops it basically stopped all improvement at all. I've tried literally everything available, including botox and nerve blockers, and every doctor I've seen has said I'm their hardest case as nothing helps even a little and its so much more severe than they're ever seen plus I'm only 19, so it could just be that mine are too severe to get much use as I've met people who say it helped a lot more than me. I hope this helps or at least you find something that does soon!

    Hi mimei!
I've been suffering from chronic migraines for 7-ish years now, so I feel your pain. I've tried prescriptions as well as vitamins, but nothing seemed to work for me and it was effecting my school life significantly. It seemed like I had tried every pill and therapy there was to offer. I ended up having a discussion with my neurologist about getting botox to treat my migraines(I thought it was so weird). I decided that not much could have been worse than daily migraines, that often caused me to pass out or throw up, so I bit the bullet. Now I've been getting botox for almost 2 years now and it has been amazing for me! My doctor and I settled on Botox as well as a fairly new medicine called Aimovig to treat me. I can't explain how much my life has improved once I wasn't constantly worried about how I was going to treat my migraine when I left the house. My anxiety and depression improved because I could devote my brain to what I was doing.
Obviously I'm not a doctor, and everyone is different. But I want you to know that you're not alone and that it takes patience to find something that is perfect for you! Stay strong!!!♥

I've considered getting mine done as well because I also suffer from horrible migraines. Something my aunt taught me (that her mother taught her) that really seems to help when you get the pulsing pains: close your eyes, breathe normally, and imagine that each throb is a wave crashing onto a beach. Then imagine yourself pushing back each wave as it comes crashing in. IT WILL HURT MORE AT FIRST, and it does take some practice. But after the first few minutes, I definitely notice that the worst of the pain seems to fade away. It doesn't take the pain away completely, but let's face it.. nothing really does. And any amount of relief that doesn't make you feel groggy and high is welcomed. Hopefully this helps some of you like it's helped me!

I'm considering getting the same piercing along with a few others now I have to sleep upright. I have Fibromyalgia, Epilepsy, Migraines, possible Multiple Sclerosis, Autism, Bipolar and C-PTSD among other things, so anything that helps is a great thing!
Btw, I can get both of my Helix/Daith/Tragus/Rook/Snug piercings done, each ear, for 4300 yen. That's by the best body piercing studio here in Edinburgh...

    • @KattLuck
      @KattLuck 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I'd be weary of any studio charging that little, because at that price point it is *impossible* that they are using implant-grade, internally threaded or threadless jewelry - and are likely cutting some massive corners on autoclave maintenance/testing and aseptic techniques. Quality is never accidental, you unfortunately have to seek it. The studio locator on safepiercing.org can be a super helpful tool (and the "Picking a Piercer"-brochure is a must read too!).

  • @Gandhie
    @Gandhie 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Good on you for trying it out, Mimei! And even better that you didn't get both ears at once, it's usually not a great idea from what I've been told.
As someone who's had a bunch of ear piercings done, I can safely say that my rook (a piercing very close to the daith area) was one of my better ones in terms of pain and healing time, maybe because it is -in- the ear where it is somewhat protected from being bumped. I don't have a daith, but I think it should be rather similar to the rook just based on proximity. My helixes and the industrial were by far the worse ones to heal, as they are in places where they get bumped a lot (when brushing your hair, getting a hair cut, from headphones, you name it...). Let's hope it turns out the same for you! I can highly recommend around-ear headphones for use while your daith heals, if you can get your hands on a pair. I can also confirm the whole thing of new piercings being more painful when it is hot out. I only ever get piercings done in winter here (I'm in Sweden so we get some pretty low temperatures in winter) simply because it helps so much with the pain and healing in general, in my experience.
But yes, these are all my experiences and people are different, of course. I hope you can get some comfort from them nevertheless. As long as you keep up with the cleaning routine you should be able to dodge the worst potential issues of the healing process. (If you get any bad swelling/infection, I recommend bathing/submerging your ear in saltwater solution mixed according to the instructions you were given for 5-10 minutes at a time. It helped when my industrial acted up.).
    I'm rooting for you!

I have three helix piercings in my left ear and ever since I got them, I have found it extremely difficult to cry physically and it greatly improved my mood (I used to be very depressed). It took several months to heal, however, that was mostly my own fault as I, at one point where they had almost completely healed, decided to bump my head (and, thus.. my ear) into my dad's shoulder because I was mad at him... It started bleeding and I got bumps on both sides of all three piercings. ^^ It's been more than a year and a half since I got my piercings but they've healed and I'm really happy with how they turned out! I actually kind of miss the throbbing pain...
My French teacher in high school got a daith piercing, hoping that it would help with her migraines and, as far as I'm aware, it really worked!
Here's to hoping you'll get a quick healing process and that the piercing will help with your migraines!

My mom has migraines & decided to get hers pierced. It unfortunately didn’t work as getting the piercing only creates a hole & doesn’t put pressure on that part of the ear after it’s healed :/ it’s honestly just better to find something to gently clamp down on that area to help out with any sort of headache.

i had my daith pierced last summer because i just really like how it looks. my earlobe piercings weren't painful at all, but the daith was so painful for me that i cried for a good 5 minutes and had a pounding headache for at least an hour or two after the piercing was done. i could barely focus to drive home and when i finally got back i took ibuprofen and had to take a nap
i have anxiety that i'm medicated for as well, and i actually have noticed no difference at all..... lastly, it's over a year later and it's still not done healing, so i haven't changed the jewelry even though the guy who did it made me get a barbell (for "faster healing??" lmfao wrong) and i wanted a hoop or a heart like yours... :/ anyway seems like your experience was wayyyyy better than mine. i hope the whole migraine thing works out :)

Thanks. I’ve been laying in the dark for the past 6 hours, and I actually made it 100% through your video, so I think I’m finally at the tail end of this one.

I'm totally sceptical about it too, but the payoff would definitely be worth it if it works. I hope it works out for you! If it helps you maybe I'll try it.

Wow so cute!! That was actually cheaper than the helix i got in Wellington but I got it done at quite a fancy place. I'm actually interested in getting one now but the earphones problem might be a deal breaker ://

Super cute! I've been thinking of getting a daith, but i do still want to wear earbuds too :/
Because of having multiple piercings, I got a pair of over-ear (not on-ear) headphones. I highly recommend the Beyerdynamic Custom Pro, if you're looking for a pair. They're 200, but i got them for 160 on amazon. As far as bluetooth over-ear, I've heard the Sony series is good :)
    Much love

I got a daith piercing last year but it didn't do anything for my migraines. It didn't hurt too bad when I got it but afterwards it did hurt a lot. It's supposed to readjust you like a massage so it takes a while to get used to. After 6 months (around Christmas time last year), I got an infection where my piercing was even though I kept it super clean. My piercing closed up and honestly I'm glad it's gone. It was hard to wear ear buds and I only kept it for looks since my fiance (now husband) loved the look. Medication really helped me, but I found out I have chronic migraines, which is 14 or more migraines a month. Hopefully this isn't you and you have a better experience than I did Mimei.

If the piercing swells, use chamomile teabags as a hot compress, works wonders. (tip my piercer gave me). Also, in regards to earbuds, if you swing the piercing so it's perpendicular to your ear and slide it upwards so the point of the heart is flush with the hole it makes it a lot easier, but I'd wait a few weeks to do that.

I have problems with migraine too. At least once or twice per week and the symptoms were really , so my doctor prescribed me some Vitamin B pills because she heard somewhere that it sometimes helps people and somehow they helped, havent had a migraine in almost a year! Hope the piercing will help you!

Hi Mimei please please please make a video about the piercing if it does help with your migraine, I also have really really bad migraines so if this is an alternative i would do it. Also, can you do a video about how you take care of your piercings. Love you Mimei💖💖💖💖

I suffer from anxiety and bad headaches (and the occasional migraine) so I'm looking forward to hearing if it's helpful for you, I would totally consider getting it done :)

I've been to Harajuku's Takeshita street almost 2 weeks ago and it was like a crowded train.. I couldnt't enjoy it at all. I really hope I can find someone to come with me on a less crowded day someday because it honestly gave me anxiety x(
I really hope this works for you. I also have migraine medicine, and I know what you mean. I get so extremely heavy and tired and it's like my sensory system is being shut down; not so fun. Luckily I haven't had them in a long time, I used to have them like 3 times a week. Back then I didn't get the medicine either D:

The actual piercing process doesn’t hurt. But depending on the healing time it might be soar and throbbing. I had 4 cartilage piercing done at once it took about 6-8months for my right ear for my right ear (3pierces) to heal and 4-6 month for my left ear (1pierce) to heal.

Daith piercings do work to begin with as it is a fresh ‘wound’ in the ear which means a lot of new pressure is felt. The pressure counteracts the pressure from Migraines. But then this does mean that as your body gets used to the piercing and it heals completely it starts to stop working as well and most people then feel it’s more of a placebo effect.

I'v got migraines and huge headaches since i'm 20, same as yours, in one eye and the temple or just the back of my skull and when its to long it gives me nausea .Sometimes painkillers are just not enough to get rid of it, but one thing that help me a lot is using "galet mentholé" from the brand SALVA (on amazon). I don't know the name of it in English or Japanese but it's like small clear stones usually in a rond wooden box with a screw. its a menthol stone that you rub on your temples and forehead and 30 sec after that you got a very fresh sensation that helps you to get rid of the pain and stop the migraine in an hour or less. Its not magic but it helps me a lot since more then 10 years. Sorry for my English by the way , it come from self learning (by spending way to many hours on youtube in think haha ) and that's pretty much all i can do.

Mimei update us after a few months if it works. I cannot remember how it is to spend a full week with no headaches, so if a piercing can even remotely help I am so gonna get it done.
