Re-watching the video the one thing they're forgetting to keep in mind when trying to understand the Charlotte Elizabeth situation is that Charlotte was raised by the clock maker.
Season 3 will explain almost 99% of things. It is definitely the most complex season so brace yourself. At one point, it will seem too complicated but it makes sense at the end.

For example the newspaper article about the "Marburg murders" state that a metalworker/lockshmith (German "Schlosser") has been robbed with casualties. When Aleksander/Boris applies for a job at the power plant he notes that he was trained as a metalworker/lockshmith. I think this narrows the missing pieces down pretty much.
In one of the cast interviews they talk about the way both young and middle Jonas react when Martha touches his face (the way they close their eyes and lean in) and how it wasn't even planned, both actors just mirrored eachother's actions and subtle movements in multiple scenes without even knowing it. I think that's just amazing and honestly this show and this cast are just perfection

Another bootstrap paradox reveled in this episode is that Jonas teaches Claudia about the mechanics of time travel, which he learned about from older Claudia.
Middle aged Jonas was waiting for Adam to arrive with a gun but then young Noah appears and gives him a letter tht makes him change his mind and save magnus and the others.

Partly in fact I think because season 3 is still very focused on "Adam's version" of the world. And what kept me going in the first three episodes is "Why mid-Jonas has no recollection of all this??? Of course, it’s all a lie to manipulate him. Adam knows it will convince his younger self to save Bartosz, Francisca and Magnus instead of stay and stop him, but once they land in 1888 and Stranger-Jonas meets Alt Martha for the first time Stranger-Jonas burns the letter as he realises its a lie, written by Alt Martha, not his Martha. But then Stranger-Martha gives him the letter again (freshly written) after he burns it by sneaking into his room, so he can find it there with the stop watch for Charlotte and give both items to young Noah decades later, who takes them with him when we see him in this episode arrive in 2020 and give the letter to Stranger-Jonas. And repeat.
Now you see what happens when Noah loses faith in Adam. The final pages told him that Adam knew about Charlotte, all along. This is particularly tragic as Noah remembers killing Bartosz for the same loss of faith.
So much foreshadowing going on... Season 1 episode 4 when Charlotte drops off Elisabeth at school, Elisabeth kisses her on the forehead, seemed kinda weird at first glance but it makes so much sense. This show is so rewatchable
It’s one of those where it makes so much sense on rewatch, but no one watching it for the first time is gonna be like... hey she just kissed her mum on the forehead that’s weird, maybe she’s her mums mum from the future!!

The struggle was real. When s2 and s3 came out, I couldn't even watch them the day of the release because I had to rewatch the previous season(s), especially before s3.

They have 2 new series being released either this year or next year called _"1899"_ about immigrants on a ship heading to New York from London in....1899 lol & _"Tyll"_ is about a 16th Centiry German Court Jester based on a fictional novel of the same name and they're all on Netflix and knowing the way they created/wrote/directed Dark, those shows are highly likely to be deeper than the basic plots which is something I'm 100% looking forward to.

As a Swede I really noticed how "un-Anglo-Saxon" it is. Very "Sturm und Drang"-ish with all the stuff about Fate and Will and being trapped by ones own desire.

And the funniest moment - it actually made me laugh out loud - was when Woller tried to unburden his soul to Charlotte, and she just goes "So that triggers the apocalypse, Jonas mentioned it" and when he asks about Jonas, says "He time travelled from th future" in such a matter-of-fact way, like that's the most normal thing in the world, and just leaves, leaving the poor guy completely confused.

i think one thing you need to understand while watching dark is you very rarely get something CONFIRMED through words like in most shows, instead stuff often gets confirmed very subtly, so if you notice it, dare to believe it :)
this is especially true for the 3rd season, if you dont pay attention you will still have a lot of questions after finishing, but the answers are (almost) ALL there

Older Claudia says to Jonas back when he tried to stop his father's suicide, "I've seen a world without you, and it isn't a good one." (or something along those lines). I totally didn't catch it the first time that the season already gave away its final twist two episodes before the end. And that "My Body is a Cage" montage always gives me chills. There will be answers by the end of Season 3, but it still isn't gonna be spoonfed to you. It's the kind of show where at the end, you have go back to certain scenes and suddenly it clicks and you have an OOHHH SHIIII- moment. Super worth it though.

I hope you picked up on the scene when Noah tried to shoot Adam, the reason the gun was not firing is, as Adam put it "not his time to die here and now", the gun immediately fired when Agnes shot Noah. This is a great reference to Michael in Lost, if you remember, he couldn`t commit suicide because he was not meant to die then.

Ahhhh yesss! I remember being in this exact spot when season 2 was released. Imagine having to wait for season 3! I almost went crazy and read every single comment on reddit to attempt to understand what the fuck just happened and where the show was going. What we know is a drop what we don't know, an ocean.
I always recommend first-time viewers of the show to watch the 1x01 before the 3x01. The art is seeing the "hidden" details of both episodes. It is sublime.
Regina seeing Claudia, her mother, again... It must have felt like an angel coming to take her to the afterlife. She is dying of cancer and suddenly her mom, not aged a day since she last saw her when she was a teen, shows up...
They say, "Time is an illusion." but this show is actually about the concept of the passage of time being the illusion. From outside time, the world is like a reel of movie film sitting on a shelf waiting for the projector. It exists, and there is an implied sequence (forward or backwards) but to the characters in the movie the passage from one frame to another is an illusion, and "now" can be anywhere and everywhere in the reel.

Well, if you guys remember properly when young jonas meets adam for the first time, adam had prints of different time machines on the wall. And this round time machine's print was there on the wall too
One of the fun things about the show is realizing how much you love the relationships between the characters, even though you know the family ties that bind them together XD
im friends with the actor that plays young tronte and he told me THAT scene was half just kids being kids, and half the genesis of claudia showing dominance and tronte's past being the core of his insecurities and playing into his daddy issues by being "owned" by her.
11:30 Adam spent his life in time travel shit and he knows exactly how all these stuff works now. He stood in front of Noah's gunpoint completely calm... because as a teenager, he rememberd seeing himself in the moment of the apocalypse shooting Martha. So he was completely sure that no matter what or no matter what, he won't get shot by Noah on that moment because he still has a future.
I just finished watching season 2. I reacted the same way you guys did at the Charlotte and Elizabeth revelation. I have to rewatch both seasons 1and 2 before watching the final season. 😎
How did this episode in particular make me feel? Difficult to recall exactly. What I do remember is that I binged the first two seasons over three days, and in the middle of the night when I was done with the season 2 finale, I started again from scratch (as this was around the release of the second season). I started it again immediately, less so to clear up confusion - more so for the series of full body chills I received for hours on end, from having had my mind blown again and again and again. If I had to quantify the length of time I was riddled with goosebumps, the number would be greater the second time round as I already knew the revelations and my brain would force that physiological reaction, even (and especially) in anticipation of the scene. Goosebumps from my brain remembering concepts, ideas and revelations - without them even being on screen. I finished it for the second time in two days, leaving myself three hours of sleep before a flight to see the family. I started watching it with them for the third time that same day. No show has been able to affect me like this, and that is why it remains my favourite.

Speculation Spoilers and Discussion below..... Reader discretion advised!.... !!!!! SPOILERS !!!!! 25:20 - Rana says that Adam must know that AltMartha must come and save Jonas, and that it's the only definite thing she knows because the characters share a timeline. Ironically, while this is wrong for most of Jonas's future life, it is true that Adam figures the truth out eventually due to the switchback in time caused by the Apocalypse. The Jonas that watched Martha die has two timelines due to AltMartha both intervening and not intervening, and they happen simultaneously. In the timeline where Jonas is visited by her, he travels to her world and eventually dies there, leading her to save him again. In the timeline where Jonas escapes on his own, he becomes Adam and causes the death of Martha, leading Jonas down this branching path again. 29:00 - Rana starts stumbling on MiddleJonas not seeming to fully know about AltMartha. Of course, he was sitting at the table with a gun waiting for Jonas/Martha/Adam to show up in order to make a change, but naturally YoungNoah walks in and pushes him to take the rest of the 2019 kids back into the past to become Sic Mundus. There are definitely hints that MiddleJonas doesn't know as much as Adam, which will be expanded upon in the final season. 36:00 - The Charlotte-Elizabeth bootstrap paradox presents the main reason why Winden's anomaly needs to be undone. These people aren't free to make their own choices. Their bodies are cages, as the song goes. It should start to make more sense why Adam becomes so fatalistic in his outlook by the time he meets his younger self. Changes seemingly can't be made (although that's not entirely true). What happens once happens every time. And at some point, hope and faith wither on the vine when it becomes patently obvious that nobody can impact the knotted cycle of time. The only way to fix things is to cut it apart, like Ariadne says in the play. 43:20 - Bitch, you called this already, but you're 100% right. Of course there would be a fucked up Eve/Eva to match the fucked up Adam.

They have 2 new series being released either this year or next year called _"1899"_ about immigrants on a ship heading to New York from London in....1899 lol & _"Tyll"_ is about a 16th Centiry German Court Jester based on a fictional novel of the same name and they're all on Netflix and knowing the way they created/wrote/directed Dark, those shows are highly likely to be deeper than the basic plots which is something I'm 100% looking forward to.
I’ll watch anything from them after Dark. They are master storytellers.

i think one thing you need to understand while watching dark is you very rarely get something CONFIRMED through words like in most shows, instead stuff often gets confirmed very subtly, so if you notice it, dare to believe it :)
this is especially true for the 3rd season, if you dont pay attention you will still have a lot of questions after finishing, but the answers are (almost) ALL there

Older Claudia says to Jonas back when he tried to stop his father's suicide, "I've seen a world without you, and it isn't a good one." (or something along those lines). I totally didn't catch it the first time that the season already gave away its final twist two episodes before the end. And that "My Body is a Cage" montage always gives me chills.
There will be answers by the end of Season 3, but it still isn't gonna be spoonfed to you. It's the kind of show where at the end, you have go back to certain scenes and suddenly it clicks and you have an OOHHH SHIIII- moment. Super worth it though.

I hope you picked up on the scene when Noah tried to shoot Adam, the reason the gun was not firing is, as Adam put it "not his time to die here and now", the gun immediately fired when Agnes shot Noah. This is a great reference to Michael in Lost, if you remember, he couldn`t commit suicide because he was not meant to die then.

From outside time, the world is like a reel of movie film sitting on a shelf waiting for the projector. It exists, and there is an implied sequence (forward or backwards) but to the characters in the movie the passage from one frame to another is an illusion, and "now" can be anywhere and everywhere in the reel.

One of the fun things about the show is realizing how much you love the relationships between the characters, even though you know the family ties that bind them together XD
im friends with the actor that plays young tronte and he told me THAT scene was half just kids being kids, and half the genesis of claudia showing dominance and tronte's past being the core of his insecurities and playing into his daddy issues by being "owned" by her.

Adam spent his life in time travel shit and he knows exactly how all these stuff works now.
He stood in front of Noah's gunpoint completely calm... because as a teenager, he rememberd seeing himself in the moment of the apocalypse shooting Martha.
So he was completely sure that no matter what or no matter what, he won't get shot by Noah on that moment because he still has a future.
By the end of season 3 finale.. Everything makes sense

How did this episode in particular make me feel? Difficult to recall exactly. What I do remember is that I binged the first two seasons over three days, and in the middle of the night when I was done with the season 2 finale, I started again from scratch (as this was around the release of the second season). I started it again immediately, less so to clear up confusion - more so for the series of full body chills I received for hours on end, from having had my mind blown again and again and again. If I had to quantify the length of time I was riddled with goosebumps, the number would be greater the second time round as I already knew the revelations and my brain would force that physiological reaction, even (and especially) in anticipation of the scene. Goosebumps from my brain remembering concepts, ideas and revelations - without them even being on screen.
I finished it for the second time in two days, leaving myself three hours of sleep before a flight to see the family. I started watching it with them for the third time that same day.
No show has been able to affect me like this, and that is why it remains my favourite.

25:20 - Rana says that Adam must know that AltMartha must come and save Jonas, and that it's the only definite thing she knows because the characters share a timeline. Ironically, while this is wrong for most of Jonas's future life, it is true that Adam figures the truth out eventually due to the switchback in time caused by the Apocalypse. The Jonas that watched Martha die has two timelines due to AltMartha both intervening and not intervening, and they happen simultaneously. In the timeline where Jonas is visited by her, he travels to her world and eventually dies there, leading her to save him again. In the timeline where Jonas escapes on his own, he becomes Adam and causes the death of Martha, leading Jonas down this branching path again.
29:00 - Rana starts stumbling on MiddleJonas not seeming to fully know about AltMartha. Of course, he was sitting at the table with a gun waiting for Jonas/Martha/Adam to show up in order to make a change, but naturally YoungNoah walks in and pushes him to take the rest of the 2019 kids back into the past to become Sic Mundus. There are definitely hints that MiddleJonas doesn't know as much as Adam, which will be expanded upon in the final season.
36:00 - The Charlotte-Elizabeth bootstrap paradox presents the main reason why Winden's anomaly needs to be undone. These people aren't free to make their own choices. Their bodies are cages, as the song goes. It should start to make more sense why Adam becomes so fatalistic in his outlook by the time he meets his younger self. Changes seemingly can't be made (although that's not entirely true). What happens once happens every time. And at some point, hope and faith wither on the vine when it becomes patently obvious that nobody can impact the knotted cycle of time. The only way to fix things is to cut it apart, like Ariadne says in the play.
