    We used to go to the other side of lake geneve at the park as a kid in the 90s it would be hot days back then in July. Originally from Chicago but i used to love going out there with my parents on 4th of July weekend.

    Nice video Russ enjoy the tour, are white pines or starved rock on the horizon, Galena in the fall, and of course back to Busse Woods for the big one.

    Buddy hasn’t gone to lake Geneva during the summer of 2020. I kid you not I bet the entire city of Chicago was there every weekend. My mom and I were trying to back out of our driveway and took about 15 minutes to get out bc the streets were crowded.

    Lake Geneva is a lake both in America and in Switzerland. When newly discovered places in the western hemisphere were being discovered by man, places were mostly correctly named, as for instance Lake Geneva in America. There is a lake named lake Geneva near Geneva, Switzerland , a body of water. There were occasional mistakes elsewhere in naming places. There is a famous park in London in the old world called "Hyde Park". A neighborhood in Boston was named Hyde Park after this famous park in London about 200 years back, yet there is no park there in Hyde near park, Boston. The expectation for tourists in Hyde Park, Boston is , "So where is the park in this Hyde park neighborhood of Boston?"

    I've grown up here basically my whole life. I live like 10 minutes away, and I went to school in lake Geneva. I'm not sure why tourists like this place so much, there's not that much to it.

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that's the reason you don't think there's much to it... you've lived near there all your life. Some others don't have access to bodies of water and so going to Lake Geneva is a nice "get away" to go to.

    It is a private beach you have to pay to get in. Parking? Have to pay for close parking...and paid spots seem to expand every year. You will see meter checkers make frequent rounds so.... do not miss that time by even 1second!!!! They mark tires too, so honor the signs that have time limits.
    I have mixed feelings on this place. It seems rather unwelcoming and cliquey IMO. And I'm talking about the tourists. The locals seem decent... probably a good place to live if you can deal with the tourists and frequent Illinois vacationers.
