Holy crap! I've been watching several of your videos over the past few days and now I'm actually constructing and playing bluegrass guitar songs with breaks! Love your teaching style! Next, I want to see how this way of thinking can transfer to 5-string banjo, my primary instrument.
the notes and pattern is super easy once you see and hear it. My sticking point is making it smooth. Can’t quite figure out pick stroke. Not sure if that’s my problem but that’s the way it feels.
Ok, at a slow tempo, any pick stroke you do will work. The hard part here is what beat you start on. This pattern could start on the down beat or on the up beat. I'd say for starters, use a lot of hammer-ons and pulls to get the smooth sound, and we'll manage pickstrokes later
I am glad the Bluegrass Illuminati, the Bluegranati lol? (mickey, you, hayes and marcel) had a secret meeting together to give us these nuggets to work with. Well thats what id like to think lol
Great the way you teach Andy rather than frets intervals! Thanks very much
Flat third up, flat third down. Great to use in fills. Thank you. And WHITE DOVE sounds GREAT in E!

@@theronb1177 woah!!! I love to hear this
@@theronb1177 I grew up on Janet Davis 's banjo book called splitting the licks. Best approach I've seen
These are the tips I’ve been searching for! Thank you! Completely changes how I play!
Yay!
Thanks a lot! Surprising how such a “simple” move can change the feeling of the song, I will try to get it into my picking 🤠👍🏻
This is so cool. Thank you.
Thanks Andy! You taught me this at Nashville Flat Pick Camp last year and it is good to have a reminder (on TH-cam) to review. Good vid. Keep at it!
Good stuff. Love the ending.
My bag of tricks just got deeper! Thanks for a GREAT video and lesson!
Great bluesy sound! Thank you Andy.
Whew! That exit was beautiful .
Beautiful lesson Andy, thanks so much
You're fkn awesome Andy. Thanks for this.
You’re the best Andy
The White Dove version at the end is so nice. E major sounds great and the earlier tips are a bluegrass life-changer.
Simple and genius

Awesome, when are we doing the 80's? Is that thing?
Ha! 80's bluegrass is all about Hawaiian shirts and electric bass.
