I'm not so disillusioned as to think there was never suffering growing up, I grew up in what was considered poor during that time, and compared to what's considered poor today, I had it so, so much better. If there wasn't government assisted housing, I would have been living in a trailer half the time with a large family, but we would still have plenty of food, and the other half with an abusive step sister in an otherwise ideal setting. I got to see normal, poor, and a rich friend showed me the upper crust. I got to see it all, and when I look at it today, even comparing the memories with as little of a rose tint as possible, things were just not as bad. Everyone keeps telling me that it was always like this, but I don't think it was. I really don't think it was. Something happened, but no matter how hard I look for the problem, I just can't find a direct cause. Yes, the economic downturn launching us into a second great depression is really bad, but you keep going through that because you'd watch out for each other and help each other through however you could, right? Sure, the coof was bad, but all said and done it didn't break anything too much. Even during a recession it shouldn't have been too hard to fix. I just think we're not helping each other anymore, but I can't prove that because there's not been any overt evidence of it, so I just discard that option. In the end, I just want to know how I can help. I just want to help. I just want to fix it, but I'm told that I'm not supposed to do that anymore, that helping people is wrong. That fixing the problems is wrong, but nobody can give me a good explanation as to why that is.

As a fellow 17 year old, I can tell you that there isn't a purpose at all. However there are goals that you have to achieve in life, which is making your own life, working, finding a partner (in case you actually feel like partaking in somebody's life), and so many more things. I've personally started doing crypto related things that interest me, alongside an apprenticeship + study. There's tons of stuff to do outside, if I'm honest. But yes, I feel your statement regarding the "purpose" you're trying to find. Society itself isn't boring or repetitive, but more egocentric than open. With the course of technology, things have changed a lot and people can have trends in just one pocket -- make sure you do not fall under that category unless you're okay with what you think is okay. All I can say is that you should watch out for yourself buddy and start doing something productive, even if you're bored. Change does not happen from day to day, but with effort to the next step.
Just wait till after high school, shit hit me like a brick wall. Enjoy it while you can, trust me I didn’t know what I let go until it was too late. As a fellow 17 year old, I can tell you that there isn't a purpose at all. However there are goals that you have to achieve in life, which is making your own life, working, finding a partner (in case you actually feel like partaking in somebody's life), and so many more things.
I've personally started doing crypto related things that interest me, alongside an apprenticeship + study. There's tons of stuff to do outside, if I'm honest. But yes, I feel your statement regarding the "purpose" you're trying to find. Society itself isn't boring or repetitive, but more egocentric than open. With the course of technology, things have changed a lot and people can have trends in just one pocket -- make sure you do not fall under that category unless you're okay with what you think is okay.
All I can say is that you should watch out for yourself buddy and start doing something productive, even if you're bored. Change does not happen from day to day, but with effort to the next step.
Just wait till after high school, shit hit me like a brick wall. Enjoy it while you can, trust me I didn’t know what I let go until it was too late. You don’t know how low you can get until you get there. Good thing is, once your out you know you can’t get any lower. Find things you like to Distract your mind from concepts which are impossible to solve on your own. I suggest reading philosophical stuff like Nietzsche, if your really are grasping for something.
