@@sambyakatonda8793 I come from Hoima District and by 1994 I was in secondary school meaning I was Old enough to see what was happening. I have a cousin who was a kadogo among those given that money and the 20 iron sheets and honestly an acre of land was not at 15,000/. Much as it was cheaper than it is now. Bse the guy could not afford to buy land and build. That I remember very well. It's his Dad who gave him a small piece of land to put aka house luckily. So when we r saying these things we have some first hand experience. Not just commenting. Anyway, it's a free world for anyone to say what he or she likes.

Kadogos or child soldiers never decided on their own. You conscripted them pay them their money
That mentality will not help solve the problem. Kadogos were NOT conscripted. They either joined NRA willingly, or ignorantly, or found themselves in a situation where they had to seek protection in NRA camps and ended up becoming soldiers! THEY WERE NEVER CONSCRIPTED! Unfortunately you were not one of them, desist from telling lies.
@@KiptooJohn-w1z what I have understood from the many stories of the Kadogos are two:
1. These young men were persuaded to join the rebel group with a lot of promises when they win the war and take over government. Which they did.
2. The prevailing circumstances by then compelled them to join the rebel group. Families were attacked, parents killed and every one scattered in disarray. So the only safe haven for them as they thought was in the rebel camps.
You know, it's very unfortunate that most people who do not see any mattter in what these men and women are saying have never and will never witness what these guys went through.
I myself having got a small chance to witness what this war was (we were near a battle front in Buhimba, Hoima for those who know that area), can really understand them properly. Certain incidences have remained on my head since 1984. Terrible!!
So when you hear afande Kulayige talk like that yes, he is right bse he is in the era of people using cookers to cook. Imagine what our ancestors who discovered fire went through to cook their food. Can really these two categories of people relate? I doubt.
Why do they insist that its M7 who understands their issues? Bse its him who was with them in the bush and has the memories of what they went through 100%. The afande Kulayiges of yesterday can not understand them. Never!! Honestly, how do u ask them for a contract they signed? Really?
Now, much as the institution of the army is being governed under the established laws and policies, these Kadogos had a different set up. The rules of engagement were different in the bush for heaven's sake!!
I really salute them that they have maintained the discipline they were instilled in while in the bush. I can assure you all here that what these guys narrate to us is like 20% of what exactly was happening in the bush. They have alot of restraint while telling us these stories. If they didnt, trust me, most of us would be traumatised.

I for one believe, there is sthg that can be done to improve the wellbeing of those still alive. The problem is people who have the thinking of afande Kulayige ( and are the ones who could assist link up the guys with Mr. M7) who have failed the efforts of the Kadogos to have their issues worked upon.
Anyway this world is full of surprises. Maybe one day it will be afande Kulayige calling or inviting the Kadogos to receive what is due to them in peace.

To me, I think afande Kulayige speaks from a different wavelength. There should be a different approach between the kadogos who were enrolled to fight for the Liberation of the country and the Kulayiges who joined the army voluntarily after the processes had been streamlined. These are two different categories of people and should be handled differently.
