This video demonstrates the integration of the humanoid robotic platform Nao within a Network Robot System (NRS) application. The specific scenario of interest takes place in a smart home environment; the task being that of bringing a can of soda from a fridge to a human user. We use this concrete scenario to evaluate how the performance of such a robot can be affected by being embedded inside an intelligent domestic environment. This study points out that, by cooperating with different components on the network the overall performance of the robot is increased. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
returns to find a dusty skeleton on the sofa.
S-L-O-W .
Hahaha
Lady: "I remember,it was 60 years ago when I told my Nao robot that I was thirsty, I haven't seen him since". XD
To the people saying that the robot is slow and useless / worthless. You have no idea how much work you have to put into to make a robot like NAO. This just the beginning of robotics development, give it time and we will have robots like in iRobot in the future lol.
len5465 No, robots like in iRobot will have us in the future.
well, there is asimo, i bigger robot that can walk, run, & jump. ik what you mean, they could have also pushed their limits making a robot like asimo
Toy Bonnie Well I think the main reason for being a robot as it is right now is because it more affordable and less inconvenient. I mean while NAO is rather small and easy to carry around, Asimo is much stiffer but also heavier.
I can't argue with that! :3
James Jeffery why shouldn't I? Both are still computers right? So both are still robots. On another level yes, but still the same in the essence of it. And isn't it disrespecting the work that has been done? Maybe you can come up with sonething better? NAO isn't an error, it's paving the way for future developpement in robotics!
"I will get you something to drink" *decades later*
yep wheels and outbalance(like segway) should work better^^
+SirHugoStiglitz Ok,well by the time that robot could get me a drink, the human race would be extinct.
+SirHugoStiglitz It has potential in the future though.
+SirHugoStiglitz Yes I know there is an improved version already,it will improve more in the future.
Alle those people calling the NAO a slow robot... Do you actually know how much it has to calculate?
+Kirigaya Kazuto that's a problem in the actuators, which is hardware level. the newer version seems to be faster
+Kirigaya Kazuto this is very slow, put some wheels and 2 motors on it's feet and it will be at least 10 times faster also easier to program
then we would sacrifice the humanoid aspect, which is the goal of the nao bot
Yea, then please explain the pauses between the movements, Mr. Wikipedia-Research.
Kirigaya Kazuto محمد
He'll get you a warm beer or a cold coffee, if you are still awake.
if you want to play $6000-$8000, look up NAO
"You look thirsty. I will get you a drink." ... TEN YEARS LATER
Wouldn't it be funny if it gave the can a shake and opened it on her, then told her to "Get your own can next time!"
🤣
i would NEVER have the robot call me master, i would have it call me by name. plus that girl should be talking to the robot not just staying quiet and tapping it's head
I agree, imagine your mom saying that to you every time she saw you, but it is a robot so it is a little different.
It's a robot! Programmed for serves you or for entertaining depends on what you want! For Nao, he could say "I'm your slave mistress" and he doesn't care at all ;D
If I had a robot I’d call it twat face so it knew who’s boss
Look, they created a NAO to teach patience. It also a weight loss tool. It is slow but so cute.
I like how he talks to the fridge... I imagine future where all the furniture and appliances can talk and sometimes too much. Just imagine you wake up because your slippers and a desk lamp argue over something, then you scream *SHUT THE FUCK UP IM TRYIN TOI SLEEP!* and the lamp is like *HE.... STARTER.... FIRST* slippers: *FUCK...... OFF.... JERK!*
That's actually pretty innovative. A little bit of fine-tuning is all it really needs.
(Painfully slow.) "Oh sorry robot i forgot to tell you i wanted Pepsi instead."
that picture almost make me heart attack
It took him 3 hours to bring her a drink and then she found out it wasn't even a new can. :P
45 minutest later, nao returns with a drink
"You look thirsty, can I get you a drink?"
10 hours later
"I have your dri.... Oh you're gone"
Ahahahahahahaha made my day! :) but nao is so cool i want it :P
"I'll get you a drink" *Human race goes extinct* "Would you like your drink?"
As a programmer I am incredibly impressed by Nao, but at this point I still think our most modern robots are little more than entertainment and teaching tools. Obviously this is just a performance of what Nao's possible potential could be, in perfect conditions, which still impresses me. But what I think Nao is really going to achieve is teaching young people what is possible and that their generation has the potential to make a great idea into something life changing.
this nice tech but there are some problemes :
1- He is too slow
2- He Can only open a smart fridge
3- He can't close the fridge
4- He hold the soda diagonaly so it will pour
5- He forgot his real Master : ME :)
Wow, it looks like the movement has really improved over the past year.
Insane Project Keep It Up
Ten years to bring the wrong can, ten more years to correct that.
Oh my gosh, that is Amazing!!
I want one!
Human - "I'm having a heart attack, get the defibrillator!"
NAO (3 hours later) - "This human can no longer be resuscitated"
omg my crippled nan could of got me a drink faster and she dosent cost $8000
omg this comment
+K. ToTi This is an old version if i remember the new one can walk faster
this video is old look at new ones nao is faster now
+DemonEntertainment your right
just shows how complicated the human brain is.. we take these tasks for granted
What a time to be alive
WOW guyS, amazing!
By the time the bots gets my drink I already died from thirst ...
The design of this thing is really working on me. For a walking pile of motors and circuits, it's pretty darn cute.
I would of died from dehydration by the time he came back with a drink.
The point is how amazing that a robot actually can do stuff like this.
"My hydration algorithm is detecting non-optimal hydration levels, allow me to hesitantly shuffle by you while you try to tune out my distractingly lengthy trek to the kitchen region."
Cool video though, I did like this.
"thank you.... enjoy your drink"
did anyone else think how he said that, and the slow movement of his body at that exact moment made him look like he had poisoned the drink or something?
I have one of these. What do you do when it doesn't get a soda because it apparently feels down? I've also noticed it's been planning things with my fridge :S
I have one but the new version, it's much faster, best thing I have ever gotten!
2 days Later in the big smart House, Nao picks up the Can.
guess its kinda impressive they can make a robot function that smoothly with such a compact body
I agree! I can see this in 10 years or so being part of a lot of homes
Does it shut the fridge or do u have to pay extra for one that can?
Awww! Nao is so cute!
Yes, this is SLOW - but I think its an earlier (blue) model - more modern (red) types are faster (and for you 40k fans: "Red un's go fasta'!").
But I think its an interesting take on what it could look like - cameras helping the robot positioning in the room, communication between the robot and appliances (of course, this communication both could and should be silent)... It opens up a whole range of possibilities.
owner: i want a drink Nao
Nao: ok i will get u a drink master
(half day later)
Nao: here is your drink master my journey is complete
Can NAO see the can is empty, and argue it is the wrong object given to it by the fridge?
How can so many people be on the internet but miss the effing point?
This isn't to show that NAO is super fast at these tasks, but more to show where we are at with the technology as a whole... >.
Jenkosaurus ask your robot for a can of lighten up
Ok, who drank the last can of coke and put it back in the fridge!? RAWR!
Is it possible to put it on wheels?
Would it go faster that way?
This is the beginning of the robot revolution.
That's amazing
Will it preload the fridge arm too?
I would rather be called "my friend", like the refrigerator..
where can you get this robot at
That was awesome, only if he was a little taller and more powerful longer lasting battery.
I also think NAO should have a separate adapter that where he can sit down in it, and get a new battery change by the adapter, so he can be up and working while the adapter charges the other battery.
Fascinating
at 2:04 i haven't been able to see its eyes for a little bit and then when i see them it just looks like NAO is freaked out by a fridge that listened to him XD
pretty kool mannng...
That's some amazing AI work. Very cool
How come the soda can was already open when the refer door opened?
I like the way it carries the open can at a 45 degree angle.
Please tell me how to get those robots because I'm too lazy to do things myself
stanley Gaming there $6k to $8k get one by seaching NAO
The height of laziness just reached a whole new level :')
how did you make it
-She drops coke- Irini-Oh robot, can you get me another? Robot- UGH!
"Master"? Didn't you learn anything from I, Robot?
Watch Bicentennial Man.
Seen them able to move much faster, however those are usually customized versions with better programing.
How many years will it bring drink
i saw an other video where he could walk much faster. this humanoid robot is beeing developed by some amazing people!
@bredikomon HI... this work is not about evaluating the time...plz go through the description..and by the way for ur info; this robot is very stable now and its walking behavior is improved!
Nice video.
Can you please tell me how to walk this robot slowly as seen in this video?
Where can I get one of these ?
"here is your drink master " half empty and all over your floor.
The like this robot. I'm sure they'll get a lot better in the future.
What does Nao stand for??
Sometime in the future, an unsuspected home-bot will watch this video accidentally in RoboTube and will start laughing non-stop, until it runs out of batteries. That day will be celebrated each year ever since.
Hasn't everything in the fridge heated up too much by the time the door closes?
Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, but doesn't the Nao move much too slowly?
The smart home is like the master of NAO. Lol :3
suday : you look thirsty i will get you a drink
monday : here is your drink master
lol
wow is awesome
lol, i love how he grabs the drink...
Where i can get one?
i would love one but i would treat it as a friend and i would get the newer viersion it blocks itself when falling
I think he is soooo cute... but yes, he would drive me crazy at this pace!
... and that's how I died of dehydration (with an almost empty flat Coke can in my slowbot's hands).
He's so cute!!
Irini actually died from dehydration before Tommy brings her a drink
Having another system to send the drink to you at your living room is better and faster. But good feature of this robot.
awesom
They do have a larger model, but I believe it isn't being sold to the public at the moment as it's still a work in progress.
0:29
I seriously thought she was going to get the drink herself
(screw you man, Im thristy now :D )
he moves so slow. but i see the implications though. Good for those with mobility issues
I'm pretty sure newer versions can walk faster. Agreed though, good implications for those impaired mobile wise.
i would never use a robot as a butler, yet a awesome friend!
if he could bring me the case of beer in the fridge we will be good!
Bender from futurama? enuf said?
he would get ass whoopin for slippin while carrying a drink xDDDD
Can you put some wheels on the legs?
For balance; it is perfectly fair for people to comment on the speed.
It is virtually useless for the task displayed. Tech companies frequently crawl before they can run! Far better to focus on the uses which suit the capabilities of the machine, and truly impress.
How can a fridge understand a robot's commands?
@chrisallen19871 You may also be missing a minor point. While you are correct, cars started out as novelty gadgets in the late 1800's they evolved into what we use today; it only took a few decades to achieve that. Computers achieved the move in less than 40 years and the internet is barely 2 decades along. Useful humanoid robots exist already, beyond novelty. Give it only 20 years, and I think even you will be surprised.
the impresive is how she waits only for a soda
Yeah! In a few years, it's gonna be able to say, "GET YA OWN DAMN COKE!" :D
