    This video demonstrates the integration of the humanoid robotic platform Nao within a Network Robot System (NRS) application. The specific scenario of interest takes place in a smart home environment; the task being that of bringing a can of soda from a fridge to a human user. We use this concrete scenario to evaluate how the performance of such a robot can be affected by being embedded inside an intelligent domestic environment. This study points out that, by cooperating with different components on the network the overall performance of the robot is increased.

    To the people saying that the robot is slow and useless / worthless. You have no idea how much work you have to put into to make a robot like NAO. This just the beginning of robotics development, give it time and we will have robots like in iRobot in the future lol.

      len5465 No, robots like in iRobot will have us in the future.

      well, there is asimo, i bigger robot that can walk, run, & jump. ik what you mean, they could have also pushed their limits making a robot like asimo

    • @StrengthInSpirit
      @StrengthInSpirit 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Toy Bonnie Well I think the main reason for being a robot as it is right now is because it more affordable and less inconvenient. I mean while NAO is rather small and easy to carry around, Asimo is much stiffer but also heavier.

    • @MsBonnieArt
      @MsBonnieArt 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't argue with that! :3

    • @StrengthInSpirit
      @StrengthInSpirit 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      James Jeffery why shouldn't I? Both are still computers right? So both are still robots. On another level yes, but still the same in the essence of it. And isn't it disrespecting the work that has been done? Maybe you can come up with sonething better? NAO isn't an error, it's paving the way for future developpement in robotics!

      +Kirigaya Kazuto that's a problem in the actuators, which is hardware level. the newer version seems to be faster

    As a programmer I am incredibly impressed by Nao, but at this point I still think our most modern robots are little more than entertainment and teaching tools. Obviously this is just a performance of what Nao's possible potential could be, in perfect conditions, which still impresses me. But what I think Nao is really going to achieve is teaching young people what is possible and that their generation has the potential to make a great idea into something life changing.

    this nice tech but there are some problemes :
    1- He is too slow
    2- He Can only open a smart fridge
    3- He can't close the fridge
    4- He hold the soda diagonaly so it will pour
    5- He forgot his real Master : ME :)

    Yes, this is SLOW - but I think its an earlier (blue) model - more modern (red) types are faster (and for you 40k fans: "Red un's go fasta'!").
    But I think its an interesting take on what it could look like - cameras helping the robot positioning in the room, communication between the robot and appliances (of course, this communication both could and should be silent)... It opens up a whole range of possibilities.

    @chrisallen19871 You may also be missing a minor point. While you are correct, cars started out as novelty gadgets in the late 1800's they evolved into what we use today; it only took a few decades to achieve that. Computers achieved the move in less than 40 years and the internet is barely 2 decades along. Useful humanoid robots exist already, beyond novelty. Give it only 20 years, and I think even you will be surprised.
