What's bad is there's people as bad as him or worse and they are out driving around or walking around terrorizing everyone and AG Ellinson and DA Moriarty just keep releasing them into Civil Society. This state and specifically Minneapolis has become another Baltimore or Kensington. It's sad and disgusting
I live less than 5 miles away from where this happened, i was just trying to get myself a sandwich from Kwik Trip after stopping at Goodwill when i noticed traffic was backed up around 7 miles, and it wasn't even on Interstate 35. The worst thing is that the fair is happening right now. I noticed there were state troopers and unmarked cop cars wooshing past us at 70 miles an hour. This must've been why!
I love how they're negotiating with him to surrender meantime those poor people are stuck in traffic for God knows how long because the cops want to play Let's make a Deal
Incident type: Armed person on the interstate Date and time of incident: July 21, 2024 at 1452hrs Location of incident: I35 southbound traffic lane south of Faribault MN (mile marker 54) Suspect information: 41-year-old adult male (name will be released when the he is formally charged) Contact information: Rice County Sheriff Jesse J. Thomas Description of incident: The Rice County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crime Enforcement Team with an armed suspect who was involved in a vehicle pursuit that started in southern Minnesota. The vehicle stopped on northbound Interstate 35 south of Faribault city limits. The suspect exited the vehicle, produced a handgun, and made his way into the southbound traffic lanes. The incident necessitated a shut down of the interstate, and area residents were told to shelter in place. For the next several hours, the man paced around this area of I-35 armed with the handgun. Officers repeatedly commanded the suspect to drop the gun and presented options for a peaceful resolution. The man did not comply with officers’ commands and fired multiple rounds from his handgun. No members of the public or law enforcement were injured. The South Metro SWAT and Minnesota State Patrol Special Response Team used non-lethal tactics to take the suspect into custody shortly after 7 p.m. The Rice County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by South Metro SWAT, the Minnesota State Patrol and its Special Response Team (SRT), the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit, and the Faribault Police and Northfield Police departments.
Checked the highway cameras as of 6:30 p.m. and they had both sides of the highway blocked and looked like they had a large armored vehicle. Not sure if they shot him or not but they are all still there, minus the bystanders.
2:39 Dirty Harry: You're thinking "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Now to tell you the truth, I've forgotten myself in all this excitement. But being this is a . 44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and will blow your head clean off, you've gotta ask yourself a question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?
Was literally just driving in from California & was stuck in traffic behind this whole ordeal. 3 hour delay! I swear, had he been of African descent he would’ve be smoked IMMEDIATELY!!! 💨💨💨 Wow! Good job officers 👍🏽👍🏽 Now treat other races with this grace. Hope he lived & gets another take on life
This is Minnesota, if he was african american, the state would have given him a new car for messing up his tires, and 1/2 mill for "pain and suffering "caused by the cops.
This is insane ! About 10 police cars + more than 10 cops chased one nerd guy. That shows cops are overstaffed !!! They wasted our tax money to feed too many cops !
I'll bet the driver of the white pickup is still waiting, thinking he's getting on the interstate.
I was laughing when he pulled up right behind that police SUV. He was probably like I got to get a better view of this sh*t.😂

Send in the Arkansas State Police, they'll have this resolved in seconds.
funny
They’re badass
Kudos to the restraint showed by these officers. This man is very lucky he isn't dead. He very likely would be if it had happened a bit farther north.
nice undercover cars
Legend tells he is still backing up.
They won't put him down thanks to anti-cop Ellison who would waste no time in prosecuting them for doing their job!
Unless the criminal is - - - CK the AG and DA won't prosecute the cops if they shoot.

Trolling gun nut alert!
To me, this is almost comical. LE being held at bay by a nutcase with no place to go, and not holding any hostages.
It's minnesota. The cop who would fire on him would be arrested and charged with murder.
This guy is my former brother inlaw. He needs to be locked up and the key thrown away
Really ??? 🤦
I've lived in Faribault for 35+ years and I can't recall anything like this ever happening before on the interstate.
Ain't got far to go to get to the prison
We need the video of the cops chasing him across the field with the Benny Hill soundtrack

I know that guy! Use to work with him about yen years ago
Are those detectives in the undercover vehicles? Those should only be used for known criminals I hope and not traffic stops
The vehicles closest to the target vehicle are definitely not patrol, so I'm curious as to the back story of this incident.
Yea, those aren't even typical unmarked, they are personal vehicles. Looks like feds, leading the way.
I was trying to get home while all this was happening, traffic was so backed up

The police used ‘non lethal tactics’ to take him down in a field. Otherwise known as a K9. Non lethal but a bit hurty.

Usual suspect
Georgia state patrol or Arkansas state police would have that handled in a few minutes
how come over half the cars are "unmarked" and the officers are not in uniform? Smells fishy.....

Hey uhh white dodge you can’t park there 😂😂
Dude has a gun and they let traffic get that close? Unsafe! Time to rethink public safety in a situation like this!!!!!
Sadly, that's what happens when law enforcement work in a state where they might get thrown in prison if they use force.
They had all the bystanders move back. They didn't engage the suspect until all the bystanders were far away.
If he had a camera he would have already been shot
Pew pew all over
Do they really need 9 vehicles there?
Sorry, 10.
Yes, they do.
Yes
