Extremely enjoyable, well done video. Appreciate you making it, and hope to see more like it! One thing I wanted to point out - you referred to Nuparu's Toa tool as a shield, but Brian Ellis, the designer you gave a shout-out to while discussing Pridak, discussed his work developing Toa Mahri Nuparu and clarified that it was intended as a double-sided sword.
Brilliant video buddy, 2007 was a year I missed tbh as by then I was interested in things outside of Bionicle. Funnily enough I have a couple of Barakki but never really appreciated them but now hearing your commentary on them I see how cool and unique thr 07 Wave was, such diverse set designs yet they all have a cohesive marine style to them which is quite iconic. Good job! 👍
Same here man the underwater aesthetic is so cool and mataro is my favourite character in my opinion 2001 is slightly better but 2007 was definitely great.
I really don’t know what I’m even watching but ima watch it to support. So yea…interesting stuff. And wow blood on the kids toys is crazy….bionicles be crazy
Great sendoff at the end. I love hearing that original bionicle score, takes me back every time. United in duty, bound by destiny. This is the way, of the BIONICLE!
Great video. My favourite years are 2001-2005 but I too liked 2007 with its deep sea motif as well as the next year after 2007, 2008 when the Toa nuva returned. I'm also a fan of the old AquaZone theme which is another reason why I like 2007.
This is a great video! I really liked the 2007 Bionicle run. I’m surprised you didn’t touch upon more of the Titan sets though. Maxilos and Spinax is one of my favorite Bionicle sets of all time. Hydraxon was also pretty epic too, I liked his claw and winged blades that made him look like an evil angel.
I'd definitely say the Piraka were peak and the underwater sets afterwards were also. But it was hard to make such a good theme afterwards. Really wished the fabs weren't as entitled during the g3 era cause they completely abandoned the CBS style and ultra builds.
Toa Maturo was one of the only Bionicle sets I had, I was a Ninjago +Star Wars kid more so. I never knew he was arguably the most important one, and he always stood out to me but I didn’t understand why until now, so thank you. Time to buy replacement joints because all of his are cracked or broken lol
The Piraka didn't actually have the Kanohi Ignika, they were still searching for it when they fought the Toa Nuva (which they only won by sheer luck since the Toa Nuva did not know what they were capable of) as well as when thy fought the Toa Inika. In actuality, the Piraka were actually looking at all the WRONG places, areas where the mask WOULDN'T be. Makuta Teridax even had a very low view on the Piraka, essentially referring to them as nothing but rather very dim and stupid pawns that he was exasperated with The red markings on the Barraki Pridak was confirmed by Greg Farshtey not to be blood, but body markings. Beings in the Matoran Universe do not bleed, as they are mostly bio-mechanical Bionicle's toyline was canceled around the year 2009, with the Bara Magna All-Stars sets being the very last Bionicle sets made Hydraxon was badly injured by the Great Cataclysm, and only died when he attempted to keep the prisoners from escaping the Pit, only for Takadox to take advantage of Hydraxon's state, and kill him. Teridax also did not use his Rahi Control power to command Spinax, Hydraxon actually lent Spinax to the specific Maxilos robot that Teridax possessed. When the Makuta attempted to command Spinax to attack Hydraxon, the Order of Mata Nui member immediately got Spinax back to his side with a single command The Toa Mahri were actually intended to be the ones to go to Karda Nui and awaken Mata Nui, but it was decided that the Toa Nuva would do it instead, since they were the ones who kicked off Bionicle as a whole, they should be the ones to end the Matoran Universe saga

4:25 that is what true friendship looks like
This is the kind of vid you spend hours doomscrolling for. Wonderfully narrated and produced, loved it.

Lore might been good but sets were a disappointment that year and it got worse from there.
