Today I moved into my first own apartment. The last few days I felt uncomfortable about my decision, but right now, as I'm sitting in my bed having a stunning view on the city, I can say that I'm in peace and that I'm proud of myself. I fought so hard to move out and today I finally made it! I just felt the urge to listen to Jeff Buckley. His voice is filling my whole room. It sounds like as if he's right beside me. His voice has always given me comfort and made me calm. I'd give everything to see him live. RIP!
Haven't heard Lana's version yet. Written by jazz goddess Sarah Vaughan performed by Nina. Sublime. The lyrics just as relevant today. Jeff's unique voice could make anything sound fragile and tender. Sad loss.
I first heard this song sang by Lana Del Reys and thought what a nice strong song. Then I saw Jeff Buckley. Had a recording and this song became a wonderful song, his voice is pure heaven the tone is wonderful. I checked a few different singers who have covered this song but for me Jeff Buckley's one is the best.
I've heard the three versions too, and I think Lana puts context to the song, counting on the fact that most of her songs are relatable to the same themes... I like Nina's and Jeff's version, but I think Lana's the more accurate version.
his voice reminds me of both nina (of course) and chet baker, with their tender feel. those 2 are my favourite jazz vocalists and i really like jeff's voice too
Bearsville studio's in Bearsville New York. Really it's Woodstock NY but Albert Grossman made a little enclave of his own with a recording studio, restaurant and theatre. I had the privilege of working there once. The main studio was a like a giant barn. Easily 40 foot ceiling. To record drums they used to place a giant umbrella over the kit to tame some of the verb. Bob Clearmountain used to mix a lot in the B room. I think he may have mixed Born In the USA there.
[Verse 1] The other woman finds time to manicure her nails The other woman is perfect where her rival fails And she's never seen with pin curls in her hair anywhere [Verse 2] The other woman enchants her clothes with french perfume The other woman keeps fresh cut flowers in each room And there are never toys that's scattered everywhere [Bridge] And when her baby comes to call He'll find her waiting like a lonesome queen 'Cause when he's by her side It's such a change from old routine [Verse 3] But the other woman will always cry herself to sleep The other woman will never have his love to keep And as the years go by, the other woman will spend her life alone

I noticed he covers a lot of Nina Simone. Only deep thinkers can keep up with Nina Simone--complicated people. Not knowing your father (or other traumas) can make people complicated.
Nina Simone's version: pov of the wife Jeff Buckley's version: pov of the husband Lana del Rey's version: pov of the mistress that's it. that's the comment. now listen to all the 3 versions
I cant believe im sating this!! but this is better than nina simone just friggin beautiful although you can hear the influence of her in his rendition that's ok though
daniel klodt ur smoking crack, Nina Simone forever changed the way this song would be heard, let alone sung. Ninas finger prints are all over this rendition
Nina simone... lana del rey and this... are amazing the 3 versions...

I did see him in Tempe Az. movie theater venue "94..
I could almost touch Jeff.
Sorry you missed it
we are proud of you too sophie
His voice is the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard in a man, it made me cried the first time I heard it, so heavenly
his voice just makes me feel so protected
The Trifecta
what a way to describe him
His voice makes my soul vibrate.
he makes my coochie vibrate
Lana makes this song feel almost aggressive or harsh... He makes it sound so peaceful. Love both vers.

Have u heard it? @@porgeous88
Exactly, lana's one sounds like shes angry and frustrated while this one sounds like she has accepted her fate, that she'll always be the other woman
This version is so calming I love Buckley

I'm quite fond of this version too! I like the original too, by Nina Simone.

@Martin Dyson Lana's version brings more emotion into it, this version is good. But not better than Nina's or Lana's. Lana put vocals into that song.
I agree.

He was a Nina Simone fan.
this version made me cry
one of my favorites
the room he was singing in is perfect, the echo is awesome!
It was the side room up at Bearsville in Woodstock, NY. Andy Wallace set the room up because he knew this was gonna happen.

Jeff Buckley definitely was a jeweler, he managed to create a masterpiece out of a piece of gold.
God dang. Sometimes his voice became Nina's voice. So eerie. So amazing.
I'm in tears.
The most beautiful voice and man. What a tragic loss. Wish he was still around. X
lana del rey brung the sadness, jeff brung the chill vide, nina brung the elder feel to the song.

The other woman finds time to manicure her nails
The other woman is perfect where her rival fails
And she's never seen with pin curls in her hair anywhere
[Verse 2]
The other woman enchants her clothes with french perfume
The other woman keeps fresh cut flowers in each room

[Bridge]
And when her baby comes to call
He'll find her waiting like a lonesome queen
'Cause when he's by her side
It's such a change from old routine
[Verse 3]
But the other woman will always cry herself to sleep
The other woman will never have his love to keep
And as the years go by, the other woman will spend her life alone
Nina, Lana and Him ❤️❤️❤️
jeff, you were such a wonderful talent! a soul taken too soon 🥺
Breathtaking....
His version and Nina's are the only ones I need.
I also adore lana del rey's version
Erasing Lana del Rey is a crime. Her voice is like honey in it.
I love him
I will miss Jeff forever
Wonderful! I've always loved this song. I love it more listening to this :o)
Just Beautiful
My goosebumps have goosebumps, SOOOOOOOOOO beautiful and soft.
Andy Wallace set that mini studio "with the always plugged innTelecaster "up at Bearsville so Jeff could do this otherworldly stuff. Amazing.
It felt very natural, and raw. Talent will out. T x

philly baby youre right I listened to it again and hes trying to hard to sound like nina guess I broke the crack habit eh/ lol
+daniel klodt not true. He respected her & no need to copy. He uses that singing style in countless covers.
elevenart so to sum up what you've said more clearly - he's made a CAREER out of imitating nina simones singing style on countless songs and covers.
daniel klodt welcome aboard, crack kills. :)
i love you
WOW
Nina Simone would be proud.
Jan emmanuel Lim Nina Simone AND Sarah Vaughan would be both proud of him!
Not really lmfaoo he is an amazing musician but this version was just bad lol
Typical Lana goes from her highest to her deepest note in a sec, probably because this man inspired her.
I had this on a spotify playlist thinking this was nina simone all along
It says the name of the artist under every song on Spotify
song and man
🔥❤
❤
I'm the other woman...

😭
1. Jeff Buckley 2. Nina Simone
You've got it backwards. ;)
reverse that now! Nina is the best!
Check out Lana Del Rey's. It's 100x better
