You should be doing commentary for sporting events, I'd love to be watching a match and hear you saying "Okay he managed to get the ball, that's fine, that's grand!"
I made what I think is a really cool bar in sanctuary by placing a bus on the backside of one of the empty foundations, decorating the inside of the bus as if was the behind the bar area and sinking the bar shop itself into the bus doorway. I surrounded the outside of the foundation with outer wall caps and made a doorway by glitching in two destroyed doors to make what looks like western saloon style double doors.
My goal for my survival play-through is a small concrete military bunker with artillery, and a bar/saloon at every single settlement. Needless to say, your timing is impeccable!
This video is genius! I haven't done many bars yet and never really knew how to get the rug glitch working with shops. Having the visual nailed it for me -- you're awesome. Keep it up.
I had heard of the tip to place an big item on a doormat, in order to place the whole contraption better. But this is the first time I see it in action. I gonna use this knowledge to build better stuffs. Thank you for the demonstration.
If you haven't done it yet, you can increase the luminance of neon by stacking the letters, and change the hue by adding letters of a different color. You can subtley change letters to be more realistic.
I could listen to you talk all day. I turn your single shops into a two story small one person home for the shop owner.. sometimes the shop keeper doesn’t sleep there though 🤷🏼♀️.
It also depends what they're good at, like if you see someone that look like a shooter type, he may not enjoy it as much but willing to do it, because the happiness keep things on track because you might have to change someone into doing that job and I understand it may not seem like it but it was something anyone pass and the game doesn't tell u because u pretty much have to listen what they're
I've found that using the busses added in the wasteland workshop dlc in the structures section make great pre-existing structures to base bars and shops off if you build off the top of them and use the coach as a house for the vendor :)
I love this! It's the exact layout I use for shops after ton of experimentation. The difference is that I place an apartment on top to condense living space.
I recently downloaded a shitton of mods to make the wasteland actually feel like a wasteland with no hope of life. And it's made each settlement feel more and more Wholesome, Like a Growing community Is flourishing. And with the recent Bar I Made, It actually feels like it's a Hangout for people to forget their struggles, Especially with how everyone gathers there at night before going to bed
Firstly, congrats on the new job, sir 👍 Secondly, fantastic use of the concrete windows! Thirdly, for lining up the prefabs on top of the foundations, I've seen a video (can't remember who it was by) that saves some mucking about with trying to get the prefabs lined up by eye. Basically, build a foundation, snap the shack stairwell to the foundation, snap your prefab to the top of the stairwell so that it is directly above the foundation, go up the stairs & stand in the middle of the prefab, remove the stairwell, look straight down at the floor of the prefab, select it and you should drop straight down along with the prefab. Voila! No funky snapping problems with prefabs. I've used this method a few times and it is a bit more accurate than trying to line everything up by hand.
Love your build techniques. Usually I'm a quiet lurker just learning from your tips but I thought I'd mention. at 3:20 you talk about not being able to put railings next to door walls. I've found iif you put the railing in before the door wall though you can indeed get them next to each other. I found this while doing a peice by piece recreation of the largest wooden house prefab (did the recreation pace by piece so that I could use different wall and floor options. When I got to the second floor segment I found if I added a floor section on top of the roofing bit, put down the railings and then removed the floor from off of the roof I could indeed put the door wall in there. It's a minor thing and I'm sure my words are a bit muddied, it'd be easiest if you just set down the big wooden prefab house and tried to duplicate it yourself to see what I mean exactly. Anyway, cheers on this video, quite like it.
I wish we could have those square wall ends that Bethesda has access to and places on shacks in the wasteland. Those, the 2x long rickety fence (like the ones in Bunker Hill that line a walkway), single prefab poles and raised floor blocks would add so much more character to these dinky little structures.
Ah the bit about flipping the door around so it opens the opposite way just blew my mind. I've been frustrated with doors opening the wrong for the last day or so haha
some of the rug glitch do still work but, not the one displayed @ 11:35 You cant place the "outdoor version" of a shop onto a rug at all. It will only turn green on bare ground or foundation blocks. the build still works fine with indoor version of shop. (on pc version). Also he doesn't use any modded items in this video, the neon letters are from wasteland workshop dlc.
For things like this is why I hate bethesda so much, intstead of fixing actual game breaking bugs, they try fixing the rug glitch, its like they want players to be pissed at them...
Good job. Hancock and Cait would approve. Oh, and Preston. From his comments, he seems to like his booze (which he probably drinks while he sends you off to help settlements).
Nice bar,but I need like a big model,or at least two different ones. Right when the sun goes down, all my settlers kinda cram into a single bar and it's a full house, but kinda too full.
+Evan Sheehan Put plenty of chairs and couches around the bar and your settlers will use them. Some will stand (reading a paper, having a cup of coffee) but most will sit down or wander around the seats.
I'm still using the first model of your shops. I really like that you're using more prefabs now because I never think to use those; thank you for the motivation to explore that tab. Once I figure out how to make higher-quality videos of my builds than the crap I've got up now, I'll send you a link. ;)
hey mate keep yah cool your work is good. pointer for being to the point as they say, and props on your props buddy everything is clean but has that catchy fallout 4 vibe. question.. how do you mix concrete wood and steel together cleanly? do i see a crazy elaborate power armor workshop that has a tall ceiling? or maybe a one stop shop and diner strip mall who knows?! anyhow keep the good work coming!
Oh I like the concrete one Davey. become a bit obsessed with it since it came out. I will have to use it in my little shopping centre / market area in Jamaica Plain. not and never will be a twitter user though!
Can you talk to a merchant if he's behind the concrete window with the wire fence? (You know, when you imbed a wire fenced concrete wall with the window concrete wall)
This doesn't have anything to do with your vid but I'd call it a pro tip. If you liked the Sat antenna from the mission to get into the Institute, I recommend building them or a few at all the settlements before you teleport. I wish I did. I built 1 at Sanctuary & spectacle island. The 1 at spectacle still exists. Oh, the 1st bar you built in your vid was nice. Gunna use that 1. Have you tried using the shack flr stairs to place a floor piece on top of your flr. I use it to place 2 small flr pieces so I can line up the prefabs & wood windows. I give credit to Jug for that. Check his 50 tips video! Enough from my blabbering mouth. I learned a lot about settlements watching your vids. Thanks
+Jeremy Sharp I actually build those antennas myself; the extra ones don't get destroyed. It's worth noting that you cannot scrap any of them - so maybe sure you're happy with them in the settlement (I say this because that massive teleporter was so annoying I ended up reloading an earlier save)
Nice work Dave. So I noticed you only have two people in the settlement. Will more settlers come after you build shops and homes or do you still have to setup a beacon or use send function?
Have you seen the small shops around the church in Salem? Itd be cool to see you recreate some of them (if you wanted) theyre all small, simple and junky as well :D
Good luck tomorrow :) Also, are you gonna be using mods once they're out? I'd love to see what you could do with everything in the game at your disposal.
There so so many new objects for me... are they all from the workshop DLC? I haven't played F4 for several month now... that's the reason why I'm asking. ;)
+Drew Weber I mean he put the exact same railing right next to each other. He usually varies them up if he wants that scrappy look. Two of the same fence never get put side by side unless it's like his guest posts on the castle walls.

Excuse me, are the screen doors and custom neon lights a mod, or an update because I haven't played fallout 4 in a while and definitely don't remember them
