A Sharjah-bound Air India Express flight made a safe landing at the Trichy airport late on Friday after circling the airspace for at least two hours due to technical issues. The Boeing 737 aircraft carrying 141 passengers faced hydraulic failure as the bottom wheel of the plane did not go in after it took off at 5.40 pm, said airport officials.
This comes days after the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued an advisory to all India carriers on potential rudder system issues in Boeing 737 planes on October 7. At present, Air India Express, Akasa Air and SpiceJet operate Boeing 737 planes. Together, they have nearly 100 such aircraft.
