I’ve lived in Hong Kong 6 years now, originally from London, lived 2 years in Cairo, 2 years in Moldova, 1 year in Greece, 1 year in Paris….I love Hong Kong choose here over London any day of the week…..The walk along Victoria Harbour, the noodles in CWB, the hustle of Sham Shoi Po, the typhoons we get……Hong Kong is still magical. Every city has good and bad, it’s just what your priorities are …I work for CX, trust me when I say my working life is not easy, but that’s just life as a whole for us all in 2022… Syoo sum Dee, bo cheung la. ❤
I believe you mean '小心啲, 保重啦!' in the end which simply means take care. 'siu sum di, bo zhon la' is a more accurate pronunciation but it works either way

Thank you for the vlog! I was born and raised in Hong Kong, and have been in London for 2 years. This reminds me my home city. I missed HK milk tea, I missed the convenience, and public transport is so cheap compared to London. And there are so many cinemas that I could watch 40 or so movies a year.
Same here, I have been in Nottingham for 2 months......Really missing the food and the harbour....My family visited Cheung Chau in every Chinese new year.. A bit emotional when watching this video.
Problem with alot of cinemas in Hong Kong, many of them are so small and compact that it's very underwhelming when compared to multiplexes in places like Toronto. On the other hand, Hong Kong does have more legit IMAX screens.
As a local HongKonger myself, i'm happy to know someone from overseas enjoy their life here. To us it's busy and fast pace place, to others might be a fresh/exciting place here to be. It's interesting to see how you feel differently compare to the locals like us (me). Keep up with the vids, i'll def hop back to see more when u have new ones uploaded.
Not many people actually want to leave, but we decided. Hong Kong is so fun and lively. So modern and things just work. But good for businesses, not so good for workers. Also terrible if we want to have a say in our future. It's fun to stay for a few years and leave when you get tired of the busy life
@@li_tsz_fung Yes, l was born here and we all know what is going on, if we, just steer clear of politics, HK is still a very safe and vibrant place where things get done, especially if you want something now, you can always find it or find a man who can....Its not cheap living here but it has some of the best public medical in the world.... I still call Hong Kong home....
Just came across your channel and video today, thanks for bringing lots of peaceful vibe and the beautiful side of Hong Kong in your vlog. I am local Hong Kong, recently been to Netherlands, Switzerland, France, haven't got the chance to visit North Europe yet. had been researching about Finland its a beautiful place to spend the Christmas (for example the Santa Claus Village, lapland....)etc, and it is in my bucket list that I would love to visit next, along with Norway, Sweden, Denmark. i am glad to hear that you feel at home to hk, it is a great city indeed, things are so nice there, you get low priced and good quality food, pretty clothes and convenient transport, i cant describe how much i love this city❤
I remember going up to the Peak at night just like this back in 1988, my first time to visit HK. Took a walk around up there and came across an abandoned building called "The Peak mansions". Being a curious fellow, I went up to the entrance double doors to peep inside the darkened building, as I almost got my face to the glass the doors jumped out at me with great force. There was a massive chain and padlock closing the handles but the whole thing moved just in one instant. Scared the hell out of me, I walked away fast and did not look back, my hair stood up Hehe. Never forgot that moment.
I don’t know why this video came up but so happy I found it. I remember coming here 10 years ago and the excitement that came with it. After the last 3 years I’m so happy to see that the city is still enchanting visitors :) I hope you enjoy your stay and maybe one day call the city Home 😀

Good to see you are enjoying life out there. I was working in HK for a few years. Until I realized I wasn't saving up much of my earnings due to everything being expensive. I moved back to the UK. For people that can afford to make a life out there, it's a fun city. I recommend it.

Great Vlog! I’m very surprised you didn’t catch any 鹹濕佬 (ham sup lo) in your video. HK/China is known for many ham sup lo’s in the streets. It’s a chinese term to describe a horny man; direct chinese to english translation is salty wet man. 😂😂😂 My conclusion is that you probably go out quite early so they’re not awake yet. Anyhow it’s a really good vlog & great choice of music. Other foreigners should also note that they’ll get a lot of attention/ppl staring at them cause that’s just how hong kongers are. Nothing bad but just a FYI for those who don’t like the attention.

Don't worry about the language. A lot of Westerners have been living here for decades and still unable to speaking Cantonese, and they live.😅 But if you want to have some connections with local society, learning Cantonese is definitely the fastest way to go.

I would actually recommend Tampere then. It's called Manse or the "Manchester of Finland" because it has a lot of old brick industrial buildings next to the rapids that flow through the center. It's not as big as Helsinki but it has a student city vice and ranked as the most popular town by Finns. It's the largest inland city in the Nordics and has great vista points and observation decks over the Finnish lake lands.
Hello there, good video, brings back a lot of memories since I was born in HK and living in the USA now, toward the end of the video you took the tram to the peak. There is a cheaper alternative, take bus#15 by Star Ferry terminal (HK side). I think after you come out of the SF terminal, turn right, and walk a block or 2 and that's the bus#15 terminal. It will take you to the Peak through winding and narrow roads but you can still get a great view and see where rich people live in HK. Also, when riding the bus in HK, if available, take the front seat on the upper deck. You will have the driver's view and side window view too.

Hi Daomi, just came across this video of yours by chance and for the first time. It's a real breeze to the hustle bustle lifestyle of HK. I was born and raised in HK, educated in "London" (South Ken to be precise) till my PhD, have visited "Helsinki" four times (mostly for conferences) and almost joint your "Aalto University" (as a design professor). I am also an (EMBA) alumnus of "CUHK", had a property in "Laguna Verde" in Whampoa (thus always lunched, had tea and dined in the Fisherman's Wharf) and above "Lee Tung Street" in Wanchai. Thanks for the video, it's such a flashback to me and touches so many good memories of mine. Will watch more...Take care.
Glad you’re enjoying HK, I was born there and have moved to the US and occasionally go back to visit friends and family. One thing I cannot get use to in HK is the humidity 😓 but plenty of great food and sights.
Thank you for the video. I have moved to NY and currently live in the suburb area. I would say the living style here is completely different than in Hong Kong. It does have its up and downs but its still a blessing to live in a foreign city especially when u re young.

Since you went to Kennedy town, there is a fishing spot when you go towards the road to cyberport. The evening sundown looks great from there. It is 25 mins walk from Kennedy town MTR exit.
I was there last November, A lot have changed since I visited couple years ago. The city changing and growing. I think the M+ in west kowloon is a MUST-check out place. enjoy

Hi! Nice vlog. I live next to the park in your video and I am a CU alumni (guessing we are from same faculty as I see you were studying that book). A tips for you, you may go to Whampoa Aeon to buy fresh fruits, much more fresh, more variety. it is much better than the ‘international’ (same brand as Park n Shop or Taste) in our empty mall. it is also a nice walk/ jog from the mall to Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry (One way is exactly 4km) or even to West Kowloon Cultural District (about 7km) for enjoying the harbour view. Welcome to HK!
This made me happy with a tinge off sadness, been to hk 3 times for holidays but probably won’t ever make it back . Safest place I ever been too , that was my feelings anyway . That Ferris wheel been on that an many more attractions, such a wonderful place an thanks for rekindling those memories

Good to see you are enjoying life out there. I was working in HK for a few years. Until I realized I wasn't saving up much of my earnings due to everything being expensive. I moved back to the UK.
For people that can afford to make a life out there, it's a fun city. I recommend it.

Great Vlog! I’m very surprised you didn’t catch any 鹹濕佬 (ham sup lo) in your video. HK/China is known for many ham sup lo’s in the streets. It’s a chinese term to describe a horny man; direct chinese to english translation is salty wet man. 😂😂😂
My conclusion is that you probably go out quite early so they’re not awake yet.
Anyhow it’s a really good vlog & great choice of music. Other foreigners should also note that they’ll get a lot of attention/ppl staring at them cause that’s just how hong kongers are.
Nothing bad but just a FYI for those who don’t like the attention.

Don't worry about the language. A lot of Westerners have been living here for decades and still unable to speaking Cantonese, and they live.😅 But if you want to have some connections with local society, learning Cantonese is definitely the fastest way to go.

You should also try the red type of dragon fruit. Also, a HK specialty is iced HK milk tea with a freshly baked pineapple bun or egg tart. Love to see more great videos from an expats point of view of HK. 😀

P.S Visit Sai Kung in the New Territories its a lovely quaint seaside town and it has nearby National Parks which are a wonderful break from city life full of lush greenery and amazing hiking views. The season is right for it now as its not too hot.

Just came back from HK last week, hadn't been back since 3 years due to the pandemic, Been to many cities, and countries, but like HK there is nothing. Best place EVER!!
Love the intro in Finland, I've never been, but would like to visit someday, looks peaceful and serene there. I've been in HK for 2 yrs, but originally from London. Glad you've found your happiness here, my happiness is more in London - it's the beautiful brick houses, the humor, the character, the history and Wimbledon, which only gets better on a late summers day. I would actually recommend Tampere then. It's called Manse or the "Manchester of Finland" because it has a lot of old brick industrial buildings next to the rapids that flow through the center. It's not as big as Helsinki but it has a student city vice and ranked as the most popular town by Finns. It's the largest inland city in the Nordics and has great vista points and observation decks over the Finnish lake lands.

Hello there, good video, brings back a lot of memories since I was born in HK and living in the USA now, toward the end of the video you took the tram to the peak. There is a cheaper alternative, take bus#15 by Star Ferry terminal (HK side). I think after you come out of the SF terminal, turn right, and walk a block or 2 and that's the bus#15 terminal. It will take you to the Peak through winding and narrow roads but you can still get a great view and see where rich people live in HK. Also, when riding the bus in HK, if available, take the front seat on the upper deck. You will have the driver's view and side window view too.

Hi Daomi, just came across this video of yours by chance and for the first time. It's a real breeze to the hustle bustle lifestyle of HK. I was born and raised in HK, educated in "London" (South Ken to be precise) till my PhD, have visited "Helsinki" four times (mostly for conferences) and almost joint your "Aalto University" (as a design professor). I am also an (EMBA) alumnus of "CUHK", had a property in "Laguna Verde" in Whampoa (thus always lunched, had tea and dined in the Fisherman's Wharf) and above "Lee Tung Street" in Wanchai. Thanks for the video, it's such a flashback to me and touches so many good memories of mine. Will watch more...Take care.
Glad you’re enjoying HK, I was born there and have moved to the US and occasionally go back to visit friends and family. One thing I cannot get use to in HK is the humidity 😓 but plenty of great food and sights.

Thank you for the video. I have moved to NY and currently live in the suburb area. I would say the living style here is completely different than in Hong Kong. It does have its up and downs but its still a blessing to live in a foreign city especially when u re young.

Since you went to Kennedy town, there is a fishing spot when you go towards the road to cyberport. The evening sundown looks great from there. It is 25 mins walk from Kennedy town MTR exit.
I was there last November, A lot have changed since I visited couple years ago. The city changing and growing. I think the M+ in west kowloon is a MUST-check out place. enjoy

well compared to pre pandemic Hong Kong is a lot more relaxed and peaceful now enjoy it before it goes back into hectic and crowded mode
Busy or not, it's all about mind and heart, nothing to do with the city.

Hong Kong is one place people should all visit lived there for 16 years and been in the UK for 3 and I always miss the culture and everything there
This has been my dream since I was in my teens, to live and be immersed in Hong Kong life. Too late to do that now but I can see it through your eyes. Beautiful and brings back all the reasons why I would have liked to live there.

Hi! Nice vlog. I live next to the park in your video and I am a CU alumni (guessing we are from same faculty as I see you were studying that book). A tips for you, you may go to Whampoa Aeon to buy fresh fruits, much more fresh, more variety. it is much better than the ‘international’ (same brand as Park n Shop or Taste) in our empty mall. it is also a nice walk/ jog from the mall to Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry (One way is exactly 4km) or even to West Kowloon Cultural District (about 7km) for enjoying the harbour view. Welcome to HK!
