6:57 A 4th Gen Mx train (the only version with button operated electric doors instead of handle operated air doors) on line 5 ! Such a rare thing ! You were really lucky to see that as they normally only run on lines 2 and 6, they go on line 5 when an anormally crowded rush hour happens or when a train isn't working properly to replace it !
25 cars make 5 full length trains but they are sometimes attached to an older version of this model by groups of 2 or 3 cars. The reason why they are so rare on line 5 is because all of these trains are stored in the Jacques Brel depot, which mainly operate lines 2 and 6, while the lines 1 and 5 are operated by Delta depot, the only depot which have the newest trains from 2007/2010
Yes indeed, they still run pretty well ! The Brussels Metro opened on the 20th September 1976 and all of the original rolling stock is still in operation and still run efficiently, because back then, things were still made to last forever, plus they are quite well maintained judging by what I saw in September 2016 when they did an open door day at Delta metro depot for the metro's 40th anniversary.
I was just there recently, but watching yours and Voxley's video helped reveal the different appearance details of the cars. The 100s are painted and have orange stripe along the top. The 400s have a little white tag on the front. Some cars have two rib lines, most don't. The side door glass differences and handles/buttons are also apparant, once you choose to look at them. Some cars have flip dot end signs, some have LED.
AndreiTupolev Thank You, yeah I found that LED lighting on the platform edge to be quite interesting. The seats are just plastic seats unfortunately, terribly uncomfortable to sit on for long periods of time.
Great video. Just out of interest, have you done any videos of the TGV trains? As I am planning to film trains at Brussels, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Lille. Also Haute-Picardie on the LGV Nord in France is a good location to film TGV, Thalys and Eurostar trains blasting along the LGV line at full pelt 300kmh. So I may also try that in 2018 in the Summer months as well :). All the best Ash.
th-cam.com/video/FRC7xF36Rxw/w-d-xo.html, th-cam.com/video/HoBs7Pzdx1M/w-d-xo.html, their the only videos I have of the TGV, only ever saw them in Nice & Lyon, they are really nice trains, even better to travel on. I hope you can organize your trip to Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Lille okay, wouldn't mind seeing some footage from there! Glad you liked the video Ash.
Here is the plan. I shall get the bus/train into Belfast and then fly from Belfast to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Then I shall get one of those "Benelux" rail passes that will cover all the NS and the SNCB trains around Belgium and Nederlands. To cover Lille Europe Station. I will get a return ticket to Lille from Amsterdam on the Thalys as then I can travel in Business Class for 100 Euros round trip that includes dinner at seat as well. All I can say is that the next train videos of real trains I shall be covering might be interesting to say the least. Just need to count those day to Christmas day where I am hopefully lucky enough to get a new camera for the trip to Europe. Fingers crossed for now Ash.

Interesting, I didn't realize the rarity of it on that line, how come that is the only unit with button operated electric doors?
Because the 25 cars of these special trains were made in 1999, while the others were made in the late 1970's/early 1980's

imaginox9 How long do you recon the older models will be around for, they seem to be in great condidion nearly 30 years later.

At the end of the day it's just a bloody train, don't over think it, as long as it gets you to where you need to be
J'adore ce métro
Nicely captured Thank you
No problem, glad you enjoyed it!

Nice Footage!😃.Well Filmed!.
Thank you very much!
Interesting platform edge lighting. High back seats are quite unusual for a metro.

Irish Rail Trains And sadly I take that metro all the time! For more than an hour! So yeah. But there good against people that lean on the seats.

Cool, but it's a shame you didn't show all the interesting stations with paintings and pieces of art ! Especially on the Montgomery>Stockel segment !
Thanks. I would have but I wasn't familiar with the network. If I'm back there next time I definitely will.

@quinlanwconley4010 Oh yes, but just be discreet about it and don't use a big camcorder like I did.
@@irishrailtrains thanks idk when I’ll be in Belgium but I wanted to film the metro and I heard it’s forbidden is Brussels safe right now the metro

Do the trains with the pull open Handles have emergency door release?
