Izzy's big problem, is his lack of adjustments, as soon as he gets his range attacks shut down by guys like Strickland & Blachowicz, hes got nothing else to offer, his clinch and boxing are lacking.
Still impressive tho how much he has achieved in the ufc by really just using his kickboxing 95% of the time
He got exposed by Strickland but his resume is undeniable. First ever 2x middleweight champ, 5 title defenses. He's clearly the second greatest middleweight of all time. I agree that Izzy is one dimensional but calling him overrated is crazy af.

To say Izzy is overrated is crazy to me… just because he lost to Strickland takes away from the fact the guy was a kickboxer (who barely ever lost) went completely undefeated in mma until Jan and stayed undefeated at mw until Alex came out… the guy only has 3 losses… and 2 of them are at mw and he beat one of the guys and was ahead of him til he wasn’t in every other fight… overrated? Especially at b tier? Doesn’t make sense. And I’m not even speaking as an Izzy fan. Khamzat - agreed. When he was super hungry, living on an army cot in the back of the gym, he would have beat ANYONE. But now? Lambos, cash and fancy apts in Dubai. He lost the Eye of the Tiger and is NOT what he was 2-3 years ago.
I'm not sure if it's the lifestyle, Khamzat always seems super motivated. He just ran into guys who are high level and won't just roll over and let him dominate them

He’s definitely the greatest striker at 145. Connor also was the first ever two division champion against two incredible fighters. He did all that across two divisions in TWO YEARS.

The boast that he did it in such a short time doesn’t help your argument, it undermines it. It highlights that he’s been massively fast tracked. Guys that grind away thanklessly beating a dozen un-motivating guys including horrible style matchups, eventually getting to the belt, that’s harder to do. Alex is awesome but every star has aligned so perfectly for him that I somehow just don’t even consider him at all in the GOAT argument.

You couldn't be any more incorrect. Facts are facts, he beat the best. Whether the UFC gave him these fighters on a silver platter or not makes no difference. He beat them all and he's the goat.
Yeah I guess that to me, beating Jan or Jiri or Sean means very little compared to a guy beating someone like Max or Charles or DC, to pick a couple names off the top of my head. Hence why he doesn’t feature in my GOAT shortlist. Yet.

I think it's because the middleweight division has always been lacking in good wrestlers, it's only been ramping up in quality recently. I would still say Rob's TDD is decent though.

Post covid lung infection Khamzat feels overrated to me. Those in the pocket exchanges with Usman had me like "wtf?" Especially considering how fantastic his uppercut is and Usman was giving him the opening all day with those hooks. Im starting to think hes good everywhere but his fght IQ. It aint all there.

Comparing Askren in 2019 to guys like Kamaru and Colby is silly. Askren at that point in his career had the worst striking in the history of the sport and had no athleticism in his takedown attempts. Just because Akren is a wrestler doesn't mean him at his worst beats Masvidal.

Usman is very young and look at what he’s done. He’s very good everywhere. No I don’t think he would be top 5 right now. He could be top 10 but he’s still very young. Also look at the camp he comes from. If they say he’s very good then he’s very good. If you remove the split decision loss to Ed Ruth which was a complete and utter robbery, he's on an 11 fight win streak. Sure he doesn't get finishes often, but you can describe Leon in the exact same way. Long ass win streak of decision wins.
