I hope in the full version they can add a tavern where you can sit in the corner and tell would be adventures that there's something terrible swimming in there waters.
Love this idea. Or just places they saw something weird, etc. so you can go explore different areas with purpose.

I checked the store page and seems like stuff gets pretty crazy later on, but you know what would be great, what if as you grow mad the town and the townspeople start to look mutated Darkest Dungeon style? and the price and offers of what you can get for your boat change with your state of mind and with the ancient artifacts that you discover?
Man that would be super rad!

A very strong atmosphere with what looks like a well tailored gameplay loop, this is going to steal so many nights away.
A navy friend of mine explained boat vs. ship. You can put a boat on a ship. You can't put a ship on a boat.
Orcas,, whales, elephants, crows and octopi are people. I don't like to harm people.
Man this looks really cool. Another Indie gem to add to the wishlist!

Interesting, I like the fact that the loan debt is small and not a constant sword of Damocles hanging over you

Octopi and Cuttlefish are really cool animals. They are really smart, too. I heard some scientists say that the only thing holding octopi back was their short life spans. I don't know if it's true, but I like them too, Splat.

2:00 Glitched matrix Oliver Hardy scares me! And apart from that, great review as always. As so often I enthusiastically watch a review for a game that is so totally not my cup of tea, because you make me understand why other people might love it.
That's two open world RPG's with horror focus...Dread Delusion and now Dredge...lotta D's....Everyone like D's...De's nuts!
Octopi are the closest to alien intelligence we have on earth. they are sooo surreal but cool at the same time.
Octopi are less aggressive than squid. Squid can and will eat you while you are still thrashing around in terror. Also they tend to hang out in groups. Octopi are more solitary and maybe will let you swim away to live another day if you don't piss them off.
Thus I am okay with showing mercy to octopi. Squid should be shown the same compassion one shows mosquitos and biting flies.
The demo is pretty fun and engaging, I just wish it went on longer, can’t wait for release

Yall should check out Sunless Sea, this game is clearly inspired by it, it´s almost a copy, even though sunless sea is top down and not 3d. This looks cool and has a more cutesy look to it, but i prefer Sunless Sea which is more gritty and it embraces the lovecraftian vibe alot more. Less fishing and more creepy creatures and events. A lot of the best writers have created stories for the many islands and encounters in it aswell and it paints a beautiful picture over time, as you experience what the game has to offer. Theres also a cool dlc where you can make a submarine and experience the whole map underneath the waves and it makes it even more scary. Sunless sea deserves more recognition, its tough to get in to but thats a part of the experience
This looks like a cool game. The art style reminds me of Disco Elysium with that Picasso style Cubist art.
This game looks amazing! I'll definitely grab it on the Switch.

Hi Splatt! Just curious, are you searching for these upcoming games yourself and play their demos? Or do developers contact you to feature their upcoming game (esp those Indie companies that have less exposure, etc)?
Nice game tho, any fishing game really is special for me, like this and Dave the Diver.
Pretty sure it's a bunch of both. People also suggest stuff in his Discord channel, though I don't know how often he uses those suggestions and hasn't already heard of them.
@@rhawkas2637 he actively checks the "SuggestionsForSplat" channel on his Discord daily; he's said as much and posts there often. But he gets a lot of games from all over too (Twitter, email, etc.). Hard to find something he hasn't already caught wind of.

6:32 Once you get old enough you realize how quickly life goes by and how quickly it can all end. You lose that feeling of being immortal that youth gives you. So taking a life, be it animal or plant becomes more difficult, not impossible but you 'feel' the impact of your actions far greater than you did when you were young. You also become more cynical, especially of political movements. Mostly because youve already heard every single promise they can give and youve heard every single inspiring speech and yet the world gets worse every year. You start to realize that voting in western democracies isnt about the powerful giving their people the ability to choose their leaders, it is actually the powerful giving the people the choice of who the powerful will punish and steal from for the next 4-8 years.
i like this game.

I've developed a real taste for Lovecraftian settings because they always have rich and detailed lore to dive into, and usually an element of mystery and exploration. Looks like this game ticks all those boxes, and is just straight up a well-made and enjoyable fishing game as well! Definitely going to keep an eye on this!

Definitely caught my eye. Curious to see how deep it gets into the "Lovecraftian" aspect of the story.
My man was literally rolling the corpses out of that bargain bin boat as Splat woke up on the dock and thought "Oh this is really convenient!"
A lot of Sunless Sea vibes, without having being built over on top of "card game" mechanics.
I tried so hard to like sunless Sea.

Had me at the whole Lovecraftian, they seem to be doing a good job at that "atmosphere" the weird fishing village with the odd people who some of whom probably are having "UN-natural congress with creatures of the depths".
That fishmonger ain't very good at filleting fish. Damn near chopped that thing in half. I'm no fishmonger, but I'm pretty sure you're supposed to cut cod behind the gill plate.
Splat stay out all night and sail to the edges, it gets pretty knarly out there. They did a great job with the panic
I completed the demo immediately after watching this. Can't wait for the full release!
Me too, great fun! I did derp for a few seconds on how to pick up debris with the trawler... But love the Lovecraftian atmosphere. Sailing at night, and seeing that approach you out of the fog.... Good stuff!

I love the concept of this, and the art style and SFX really hit the atmospheric nail on the head. Sadly, I think I am far too jumpy to make it through the actual gameplay so I'll just have to hope people play it on TH-cam when it comes out so I can experience it vicariously instead.
Same. The panic meter kinda reminds me of Don't Starve. Will have to look into just how spoopy it is. I would've loved a laid back relaxed version a la Stardew Valley or something. Looking forward to one called Sail Forth.
