Thank you for posting this! I had no idea Mark Shreeve passed away in 2022. RIP to a legend. He belongs in the pantheon of electronic music's greatest.
What! Really? Oh no. I haven't felt this shocked, since I learned about Emerson and Lake with a year delay. Why all those noones listed on teli, and none of these geniuses. This is the problem with youtube. You see great musicians, then wait fot their next number. Then, from a note somewhere you learn, another one of those talents were gone. Thanks for letting me know. Mark Shreeve was (and is) a musician that I need to light a candle for tonight.
First heard Mark playing his version of Assault on Precinct 13…..wow…that was way back in 1984…..I was so inspired by Mark, I went out and bought a load of gear….created my own music, but so inspired by this genius……RIP Mark…..your music will be with us forever…
Brilliant footage and superb music! Many thanks for posting this video, great to see. Mark was certainly a maestro with the Moog sequencer and all the other synths, so many evolving layers subtlety changing. A joy to see and hear.
I am 22 years old and I have such deep respect and admiration for Mark Shreeve! Seeing him in real life is so special for me because I love his music! So awesome that you were his friend and you guys spent time together in life! Sometimes when I see your videos I think about the beauty of life and the nostalgic moments that you spend with your friends! Your drawings are beautiful btw Jarl-Hugo Låstad ❤!
@@Jarlhugolastad What an honour! Julian and the other members of Redshift were superb as well! I feel a bit emotional now. I am a very visual person so listening to Redshift and Tangerine Dream inspires me as an artist myself (I really enjoy macro photography of insects). Have a nice day ❤!
I had a 12” back in the mid-80’s by Mark Shreeve (Jive Electro label if I remember!!). I think it was called ‘Legion’. Bloody brilliant!! One of the first tracks I had heard where heavy sampling was used.
Thank you - dear Lady. Sadly Mark never tok time to visit us, but we hope to se his wife visiting us sometimes in the future? I never forget the hour-long phone call with him in the early eighties, and what started his career.
Maestro Jar- Hug Lastad, tuvo la gloria de estar cerca de un Icono de la musica electrónica, Gloria a Usted. Me han gustado sus vídeos. Enhorabuena, Gracias.

If that’s from 1996, Redshift I had already been recorded: “Redshift's eponymously titled first album was actually completed in mid 1994 but not physically released until 7th December 1996 at the band's first ever concert at the Jodrell Bank Planetarium in England.” (the Bandcamp page for the album) This sounds more like Ether (Redshift II), as one of the other commenters points out.
The visit I made to Mark Shreeve's home took place on December 2, 1996 - there is no doubt about that. As you can hear he is recording a tape for me, it could possibly be Redshift II - Ether. After Mark's demo in his studio, we sat in his living room and talked about the Redshift project. I filmed all of this on video As I see it, there are no errors in what I have published? My recording is from 2nd December 1996. The concert Mark gave at Jodrell Bank Planetarium took place on 7th December, just 4 days after I left England. It is therefore not unlikely that he gave me a recording of this as a personal memory? As a digression, I would like to mention here that he also gave me Touch Me sung by Sally Ann Triplett, several years before Jive gave it to Samantha Fox. Not everyone knows this, but that doesn't make it a mistake!
@@Jarlhugolastad Thank you for the additional details. I wrote my comment in response to the description which states “at the time he was working with the album Redshift I” (Ether is II, not I), but maybe I am just misunderstanding what “was working with” is intended to mean. (I am not a native speaker.)
Thank you! What a magical technic here, in the studio. I completely confuzed by all these wires and myriad of switches, had no idea, how is that works... But result is fantastic! What is depicted here, is it process of creating new track, or Mark just playing? And so beautiful woman! Is it Mark's wife?
On studio albums, maybe, but by his own admission he was a "lousy" guitarist (Source: Melody Maker 1975). Compare Edgar's playing to the fluidity of the late Manuel Gottsching of Ashra.

Everyone now can only emulate his style...
Nobody is this good at analog sequencing. Nobody.

Sounds like Ether to me too. It’s utterly amazing to see him running through parts of it in the studio. Never in a million years thought I’d see that.
Wonderful! Mark was a magician with the Moog as this clearly shows.

Thank you for nice comment. And no, the beautiful woman is not Mark's wife. She is my wife.

things we learn , I always thought Edgar was actually good with guitar
