@@Coffeybear13challenge for you. Negative switched highbeam. Light Bar. 3 prong led rocker switch. How to wire it all up, so lightbar can ONLY be turned on, when highbeam is on (thats the easy bit, now for the challenge), getting the led light on the 3 prong rocker switch to turn on ONLY when lightbar is on. Thank you for the video. I followed your instructions and got everything wired up, but it didn't work. I checked everything multiple times and found my ground wasn't tight enough. After tightening the ground, everything worked great. Thanks again.
Hey again you made it so easy what I did to make things easier (using my power supply) I built a “demo” board, it has a ignition switch, a 5 wire relay, and rocker switch. Now when I wanna check a set up or new accessory It is all prewired just like a dash of a car. I plug in the hots, and ground , and run my wires to what I want to check. And if it all works. It makes installation so much easier. I just took your layout and made it into a board. Thanks again
It doesnt matter which is which... a long as one is positive and one is ground. When its negative switched highbeam, I've jumped 30 to 85, 86 is highbeam trigger wire (via iso 3 prong rocker switch in cabin), 87 is to lightbar positive. The legal way to wire up lightbar so can only be used when highbeam is on. The biatch about negative switched highbeam is, when you turn it on, it becomes ground so you cant get led in rocker switch to light up when lightbar is on. Why? Cos the rocker is spliced into trigger wire, which goes negative when on 🤬🤬🤬
Hey you have saved me once before . I have a question , I have a light hooked up. But it doesn’t have a sep switch . I have a spot for a rocker switch , the switch says interior it’s perfect , can I use a 5 pin rocker switch as a simple on/off switch ? Thanks
Yes. You will use pins 1, 3 & 4. Ground pin 1. Run your power from the battery or other power source to pin 3 (you should fuse this line with an inline fuse). And the power to the light will go to pin 4. You will also have to ground the light. So basically power comes into the rocker switch at pin 3 and when you flip the switch power leaves pin 4 and powers the light.
Hey thanks so much , I appreciate you helping me. I got the relay stuff down lol thanks to you, but I have a light I wanted to put a rocker switch onto. Thanks so much. I really appreciate it very much. Chris
Hey, Thank so much, that has been the easiest how to , and ty for having the directions to screen shoot. One question, If I wanted the whole switch on when I start the car (side by side) what wires do I switch around? Thanks so much
Do you need to have a power wire from the battery directly to the switch? Or would the power be ran down through & out of the relay to power the switch? Great Video!! just a little confused on that part.
Absolutely excellent video. Always been hard to find a video out there, where it shows the combination of the accessory, relay, and a rocker switch. Great job! Now I just need to figure out where to put an in-line fuse as my relays do not have a fuse spot. I would assume that the fuse would go between direct 12V power and 30 on the relay?
Bear , I have a question on the switch part . “Could “ you hook up power to a light wire and not the acc key wire ? Also Well let me explain what I’m doing ; I’m putting a 6 gang ( nilight ) switch box between my sunvisors . 1 switch to KC Daylighters 1 switch to KC Daylighters 1 switch to a LED light bar 1 switch to roll bar bed lights 1 switch to possible fog lamps -( trouble is my light switch turns the fog lamps off when high beams are activated- don’t know if I want that ? ) 1 switch to back up led lights ? Maby Also where should I put my fused relays ? ( mount them ) 2003 F150 Regular cab Thanks much Mouse
You only power the relay (pin 30) with constant power from the battery. If you do not use a fused relay like in the video, you will need an inline fuse between the battery and relay pin 30.
Hey sorry to ask it may be obvious but to wire to keyed power is that just any wire in the car like radio etc that's activated by the key? May I ask which you wired it to for your vehicle?
If you're looking to tap into a wire that activates when the key is turned on (radio is a good option), go to your fuse box and locate that fuse. You can also use a multi meter to see which ones power up when the key is turned on. You can then use a fuse tap to get your power. Check out this video for fuse taps: th-cam.com/video/nasuPwpr55I/w-d-xo.html

That was SUCH a helpful video! What gauge wire do you recommend for fog lights?
I typically use 16g on my LED low Amp stuff, which is overkill. 18g is fine since fog lights are low amp.
Question - what about the lower rocker light coming on when you turn your headlights on ?
You only power the relay (pin 30) with constant power from the battery. If you do not use a fused relay like in the video, you will need an inline fuse between the battery and relay pin 30.

Yes. That pin is used for "add-on" power. Like when you turn your high beams on for your headlights.
