Amor prohibido is basically a story about a rich man and peasant girl literally she explains it in her story on Netflix I think the girl is actually her grandmother??? Not sure but long story short they come from two different world hence forbidden love so she basically showing the emotion of this story through her face ugh she was such a talent

According to the Netflix series this was around the time she was worrying about touring her English music without her band (family).

During her rise there was a conflict for a little while with her father and a guitar player in the band who was dating Selena in secret and it wasn't easy. Their feelings were real and eventually got married behind her family's back.

If you haven’t the live concert she did in Texas as The Astrodome is a real treat. I didn’t really follow her before her death. Once I saw the “Selena” movie starting my fellow Puerto Rican actress Jennifer Lopez I started researching her music and story however even though I not really a fan of Texmex music I found myself enjoying her music. She was a true entertainer with a passion for craft. It really angers me that she was taken from us so soon what a tragedy😣😔

Maybe because your not use too her performing or performances that you see or think she is or might be uppset (:. But she is very passionate about her music and She rarely shows there's something wrong with her (:. She is a expert at hiding any real unwanted or unessary emotion that wouldn't go right with any upbeat songs (: I mean too me she looks like she is performing as she usually does always full of energy fun and love (:. If there was something that's making her uppset it would probably be that maybe her mic sound isn't as she would like it too be or maybe the band is not in tune or the audio mic harmonics too her band are not in tune and they could sound off (:. But if any of that was the case you would hear it in the video audio (:. And like I said it isn't the case She is very happy, very full of energy, very full of fun and love (:. Like she always is (:. Now obviously as a artist she's not gonna always perform the songs the same always (:. Sometimes she might stretch out a song longer too get the crowd too jam more and create a more groovy dance feel too it or she could improvise more with her vocals and add more ad libs too the song or more emotion in other songs (:. So if this performance is different from the last you reacted too (:. Then those are possible reasons that it could be different (:. But then this probably a earlier performance than in her Astrodome Houston Texas Performance (:. So the performance would undoubtedly be different (:. But truthy I think it's not her that's uppset or even appears in your eyes too be uppset (:. But maybe just maybe you might be uppset because this performance of her isn't like the last one you reacted too of her (:. This performance was for a live tv show, and she tends to put herself into her songs lyrics and acts it out, for example like Amor Prohibido has sentimental lyrics, hence her putting in that emotional aspect in her face and she looked “sad” or like she was bothered by something. And Bidi Bidi Bom Bom is definitely a more up beat happy song. But the fact that the audience was very calm, definitely played a part in her being more chill in this performance. She’s much more happy and upbeat during her actual concerts, rather than her tv performances 🙂
@Victoria Lopez Because she didn't get to tour more down there. The furthest she went was Monterey, which was definitely big into her music. Every person in those crowds would sing and dance to her performances. So it wasn't so much that she wasn't embraced there, she just wasn't promoted there as heavily yet.

Well in past years people from Mexico City always felt like they are better than the rest of Mexico.
They feel that their above other Mexicans, specially if there poor or come from a rural erea. They always made fun of people who like this type of Music like Norteñas and Rancheras and other types of music, since they feel their so trendy because they listen to Pop and other mainstream music.
You said that it seamed something was bothering her in this, I didn't get that impression in this performance but I definitely noticed in her astrodome performance in February 1995, even though the performance was amazing, she seamed almost in pain at times, the last few months there was a lot going on, obviously.
I just wanted to add something to my review, did you know she designed all her stage outfits herself. She drew them on paper and met up with a clothing designer who actually created them for her. Her true dream was to become a clothing designer, that’s why she opened up her own boutique to show off not only her concert outfits but other creation she made herself. She also designed all her own jewelry. And her hair styles. What a talent my goodness

The Leather TMA outfit was from a designer South Beach, The sparkling red blouse is from Della Roufogali, The Lion print jacket on one of the covers of her hits album was from another designer, she also wore Gucci designs mixed with her leggings.
I honestly don't see anything wrong or sus in her demeanor. This is one of my favorite presentations of hers.
If you look it up, the song is influenced by her paternal grandparents love story where their love was shunned upon because they came from two different social classes in Mexico. It’s said they in turn eloped and moved away.

She played a character on stage so if that’s how she wanted to interpret the song, that’s the emotions she would give.
She may have been a little off put because this is in Mexico City. The audience was much more quiet and less engaging than what she was used to. There are three more songs from this same performance and in one she kinda looks at the audience like “are y’all awake” playfully.

You must watch her Disco Medley from her last astrodome concert. Its a must!!
She’s different because of the audience. This audience was very subdue, and quiet. She very much fed off the energy of the audience.
Mexican regional music purpose is to make an audience dance, to be entertained so even ballads have to have a danceable rythm. Both songs are cumbias.
I think it was the crowd in this performance. If you look at the audience, it seems more of an older, more reserved crowd, and you can find other videos that pan to the audience as well. There’s a young lady that is there who is obviously inspired by Selena’s wardrobe, and she can’t be more than 20. So maybe that’s what was bothering her? The inability to connect with the crowd like she was used to doing?
This was a TV special. I do believe this was around the time when Selena started having problems with Yolanda (the lady that was stealing from Selena's bussiness and later killed Selena.)

If you look the whole show, the host made fun of the name of her song bidi bidi bom bom or maybe she was just tired, a lot of work. Oh and about the style of the song Amor Prohibido it is very common in mexican music, deep lyrics with upbeat rhythm.

i dont think she was sad lol or anything was wrong, but i have seen the full "concert" you should react to la caracaha from the same performance/tv show . you can see how she changes depending on which song she is singing. she's more playful in la caracha one my fav performances of hers. the only thing i can say is this is a different vibe than the astrodome with 60 thousands + people cheering you on compared to a small little tv studio, with what it looks like older people who arent as excited so maybe thats what your picking up on.

First I’d like to start by saying you’re a very beautiful woman yourself. You have a lot of soul and I love the way you react to her music. I’m a woman and I can see this. I’m sure all the men out there would agree. I just started getting into Selenas music recently, I’m a 60-year-old woman. I’ve heard some of her songs before I’ve never really studied them, and never listen to her entire library until after I saw the Netflix series. I’m Spanish but born in America. I’m bilingual so I understand everything she’s saying. Do you happen to know that she learned Spanish late in her teenage years just so that she could communicate with her Latin fans. She also learn Spanish so she would understand what she was singing. She eventually got very fluent. She was so good that I actually thought she was born in Mexico. Anyway I just wanted to complement you and the video very much. It breaks my heart every time I think about how far she got and how she was on the precipice of gaining international exposure and recognition. Anyway I believe she’s in a better place now and I’m sure she still singing. She made a beautiful contribution to the world of music and inspired many young people to follow their dreams. She was a remarkable young lady and she was just shy of turning 24 when she was murdered. She was not even in her prime yet. The whole story is very sad.

Selena lived in Corpus Cristi... Something supernatural that have everything to with being a Catholic... The woman that killed was possessed with somekind of spirit... We live in a world that is Catholic dominated which no-one actually really considers... because we think of the cult as an established of CHURCH like... Firstly the Ceasers ruled the world, and the pope is regarded as that worldwide... The pope resides in a palace at the Vatican City... The Church play a big role in our success and always had... we were colonized in South-Africa and developed by the different churches... The Catholic Establishment being in the frontline with its members and followers... the Apostolic Faith that have split up... and being understood as the old and new apostolic movement... A German group... that have the second control over the government in South-Africa and also total leading of country... So it's like this... if we don't play by the rules of these establishments, we dead... Selena was a great success in country that was under the influence of which or what church?... These things counted alot... but was and still to date being well understood... That where the word trouble stem from... because we being killed because we got into trouble with somebody... Hope you understand what I want to bring under your attention... That woman in jail are being visited by churches... find the Catholic Movement with all their saints in there...

I remember when Selena first hit the scene. Most Mexican American thought that Spanish was her first language and she had to learn english. But it turned out to be the other way around. English was her first language and she didn't speak fluent Spanish till she became an adult. I got a cousin in a band whose thing in Spanish but can't speak spanish. He's chicano, but many Chicanos like myself did not go up speaking spanish. My Brazilian girlfriend at the time knew more about her than I did. I was kind of embarrassed about that but she did hit the scene out of a sudden.
Amor Prohibido, it's not a sad song... it's more like a love defending song, people can talk and say it's a forbidden love, but they won't care and will go on
In honest truth Selena broke barriers and won Grammys in Mexican industry women weren't as famous to lady who uploaded Selena put emotions thought character she was nothing never bothered her she was amazing put beautiful smile and her voice had to be herd she was extremely talented!!

Live performances can be a real hit or miss proposition. She was very much an up and coming phenom at this point and it could be that she was tired or the band wasn't exactly the way she wanted. The sound might be off. Also the stage monitors might not be right and I doubt many people were using in ear wireless monitors like they do today. So maybe she couldn't hear herself singing. And since she was doing a lot of touring she might have been in a venue where the sound system wasn't up to par.
wow i always thought she seemed a little down during this performance as well! she still put on a wonderful performance but she doesn't have her usual spark.
I feel like she's competing with the music,. like she fully understands that she is nothing without them and is another accompaniment with the group in total
She was covering the fact that she was married during this performance and everytime she went to sing in Mexico, the first thing the host would ask her is about her dating life. Her father wanted her to keep a secret that she was married but she felt guilty for lying to her fans. She is from my hometown
