thank you for helping me cancel my preorder lol How are we supposed to feel when we see the other stuff Tamashi Nations has done in the SHF line for other figures? The reissue of Guts (soft goods cape), the recent Berserk Armor Guts (also soft goods cape) - they just showed of Schierke (an entire soft goods robe), the P-Bandai exclusive Sage Mode Naruto (also soft goods robe) and Makima (soft goods coat that Luffy 100% should've gotten too) That cape on Law looks absolutely awful and really limits the poses.
I have the figure and I took a look as best I can without actually stressing the plastic (I don't know why I care as I'm gonna break it off as soon as we get 3rd party) and I can't see a way of removing it that will look clean. But, at least the new cape will hide the mess.

I can finally watch this as I just received my figure. I have to say, he would've been the best and most perfect shfiguarts so far if not for the damn coat. I can't pose him without having a very ugly hole inbetween the coat's fold, not to mention it keeps falling down and ruin the pose. I also have no idea why it's glued, it feels awful and we definitely need a replacement for the coat. I just hope Kid's would be done much better, because this really kill it for me and it makes me sad since he really is the best if you put that coat aside.
I bought this guy immediately even though I haven't seen One Piece far enough along to be introduced to Law yet. I just loved the design, the nodachi (and I later learned he's voiced by one of my favourite VAs) Other than the cape, this figure is great IMO The best articulation we've had in the One Piece Line... except that cape. It's SO bad it literally makes a 9/10 figure into a 4/10 I'm sure we'll get a 3rd party fix this for Tamashii Nations by making a soft goods version. But even then we're gonna be forced to literally break the figure to swap them out. And that sucks.
That limited torso is so familiar that I remember seeing in one of your reviews before. I looked back and saw the same design in the Netflix Zoro. Don't know why they try this kind of design when it doesn't work since they tried rubber on torso on the Beast Gohan.
Cause a growing subset of people bitch and complain about "gaps" and "breaking up the sculpt". Companies cotton to that very loud minority and cool figures suffer sadly. Its the same audience that moans and groans about "pinless joints" with Marvel Legends and even now on figuarts people want near invisible joints.
I’m watching this very late, but I’m shocked the cape/coat is not removable. I would’ve personally been very disappointed if I had got him. It should’ve been a cloth good that could be removed imo.
The cape being attached is unfortunate. I guess this means Eustass Kid probably has a similar thing going on. He’ll be so top heavy with the cape and mechanical arm
the Wano versions of Law, Kidd, and Luffy look cool but after seeing how many issues they have I’m just gonna wait until the East Blue saga figures come out. I’ll prob get Gear 5 in the meantime to hold me over tho
Things like his coat are always going to be bad in one way or another on figures of this size but I'm hoping someone makes a cloth one and puts it on eBay like they have with a bunch of other figures for SHF lately to fix them such as Zoro from this line. The skirt piece I got for Zoro turned him into a great figure and I never looked back. Maybe they can fix Law (granted it looks like you will have to destroy Law's current coat to give him a cloth coat).
You can probably get it off without destroying it. The issue is, you're going to be left with an ugly lump of snapped blue plastic on his back where it was slotted and glued in. I'm still gonna do this as soon as I can though. This figure is awesome other than the cape.

I don't know about you, but when I see someone on Mercari or eBay trying to sell a figure they modified I just move on and get one that no one changed.

I think the biggest mistake in this line is that they started way to complicated with the Wano arc (haven’t got to that part myself, butI assume this version of Law is from the Wano story?). They jumped in with fairly complicated designs instead of starting off simple with the Eastblue and allowing themselves time to grow. Basically they got too eager and ambitious and it’s biting them in the ass.
i really want to collect these new One Piece but they're making a lot of mistakes. I wouldn't mind the cape and things like that IF the prices weren't that high..
Bandai showing Naruto is their favorite child, the only line that "deserves" cloth goods in Bandai's book. I thought this line was gonna go only up after Yamato being really good... I gues not 🤣 (Well Chainsawman apparently as well with Makima)
This figure cost 80 freaking dollars… for what? What are we paying for? This looks like 60 bucks at best or 35 bucks which zoro and Sanji should’ve also cost considering their problems. Nothing about this figure screams 80 dollars. You don’t even get a room effect piece, no extended sword for kroom, no kroom effect for the sword, no kroom sword attachment where you can attach kroom to another figure to stab them (when he did it to big mom and Blackbeard) and no gammaknife 🤦♂️
The one piece line is weird, but I think that's what makes it unique from anything else. I think this Law is an overall 6.5 for a low ranking. They still did pretty nice. Great review, Ace.
It really makes me wonder if Tamashi Nations is really dropping off as a figure company. First it was the S.H. MonsterArts line, and now S.H. FigureArts too? I hope Not, well not as a collector (I Do Not have any of these figures) but out of concern for anyone else who is willing to pay ridiculous amounts of Money for these Figures Tamashi Nations and Bandai are charging people for, only to leave customers with downgraded, poorly-made or broken Figures, even some of them end up falling apart when you pull them out of their box and leaving the collecting buyers feeling cheated. What could be the cause of this fall from grace.....? Is it competition with other Figure Companies? Running out of the proper materials (plastic, paint, cloth, etc.) to make these figures? Or simply Corporate Greed after making so much money to the point The Companies don't have passion care about quality or effort anymore?
