I use the big websites to find the hotel I want, then call and book my stay with the hotel directly. Those sites will never help if you have a problem.

Very sorry and I am now more nervous, like you I am a big Booking fan with quite a few bookings to go, now trembling!
After the experience I had with them, nearly 20 hrs of calls and 100 messages, it was only when I took it to social media that they started talking to me. I will not use them again… I have also heard people having similar issues on Expedia. I will from now find and contact hotels and properties direct moving forward.

@@drdoolittle5724 Hi 👋 So i have had many comments and people reach out to me since, telling me their stories and how even when paying booking direct they have turned up at apartments and hotels only to find out someone living in apartment and its not even rented, or hotels saying sorry we have no booking. When i have called booking over 40 times now, i get put through to a different person every time from their customer service teams that are remote all over the globe, think i have spoken to at least 10 different countries now off the one uk number they provide on their site. Really poor service zero infact and wont go near again.
Nick, that's just really bad, it seems like one thing after the next and nothing working out! I do hope you get your money back from the Bank if possible. Never rains but it pours as they say. We almost got scammed by a low life who reckoned he owned a residential park in Cornwall and was taking peoples life savings off them . Fortunately my solicitor saved me by doing certain enquiries about the so- called five star park, and eventually the low life ended up doing time for it, but people never got a penny back. So could have been worse for you, if that’s any consolation. Thank you for the update, much appreciated.

I’m so sorry for you and family, it’s awful what these vile people do. I’ve been scammed a few times recently but only for a couple of hundred pounds so I understand how you feel, I’m 64 and always thought I couldn’t be scammed. Good to see you filming again 👍🏍️

Oh Nick that`s just bloody awful, all of it ! I knew Dave was going to Tenerife but didn`t realise you were on the trip. I feel really pissed off for you Pal, I`d have been raging for weeks I`m sure. On a better note I`ve been out several times the last week or so on my bike, it`s been a very cold wind mind, so glad I had full winter gear on ! I`ll bump into you somewhere in the North West I`ve no doubt ps things can only get better 😄😄

I only know you from your content over the years but anyone can tell that you are a positive and pragmatic individual who has no doubt seen much worse in life before. Sorry you had all these problems. My sister used to work at Booking (in HR) a few years ago and I've booked many properties through them, including all my accommodation for the France tour last year. I guess it's the more expensive listings that are targets. I'm always very weary of paying with anything other than a credit card. Hope you get it sorted

The scam is also on Expedia .Same thing happened to us in December but it was through Expedia in Marrakesh . Turned up at 9pm to a riad , no booking !

Oh mate I thought I was having a shit time but no idea you’d been through that on top of this weekend. I am still gutted this didn’t happen for us and I’m frightened to suggest trying it again……at the moment! We shall ride again Nick. 🤗😉🏍️
You know what mate I’ve been down this last few weeks I’ve just had total hip replacement and can’t ride my bike for another week can’t wait but with being over 60 I’ve bad a poo screening on my mind but it’s just come back all clear at least we live to ride again 👍
What a frustrating situation!! i too have been scammed a couple of years ago, sadly it's an increasing trend. We are all be encouraged to use on line banking etc, but the scammers are having a field day, and it's only going to get worse. Anyway riding your Tiger should be good therapy.

What an absolute stinker of a few weeks you've had! It's absolutely awful when something like that happens, and to have actually got to the villa with all your family too...awful. Tell you what though, I know it's a cliché, but honestly, money is nothing compared to health - so long as you and your loved ones are fit and well then everything else will sort itself out. Horrendous news Nick 😱. I would recommend keep writing to the CEO & don't give up! We had a bad experience with Inghams on a holiday & were getting nowhere with phone calls & emails so kept writing to the CEO & thankfully he ended up resolving it. Keep your head up & stay positive you deserve some luck & all of your money back 💷. Ride & sail safe 🏍️⛵

Sorry to hear. Personally I’ve had no issues with booking but I’ve always payed by card through booking or at property. Personally I’m never happy bacs paying remotely. Personally I would have made the most of Tenerife especially if you payed for it, but it’s your money and time. I only say due there are a lot of bikers even by them selves would have enjoyed that opportunity but may not be able to due to many reasons. I hope things pick up for your self. I’m tide up with business this year but aim to have a few long weekend rides up to Scotland and other uk locations though. And only have a week off for family holidays. Don’t get me Wong I consider myself very fortunate and lucky. Even in negative situations there are positives and sometimes it’s better to make the most of it than go running with your tail behind your legs.

I’m in the middle of a complaint process with them too. Absolutely shoddy accommodation advertised as something it’s not. Second time in a year so once I get a refund I won’t be using them again either!
Shocking, they need to vet these properties better.

I'm sorry to hear about all this crap that's going on. It's so easy for me to say, but please try not to let this dampen any future excursions you may have planned. We all know only too well that it's hard to get out of a dark place mentally, but if it helps, it's actually people like yourself and your videos that have helped me into a better place.

They set these scams up take your money & once arrested if ever arrested get bugger all jail time.Petty criminals get more time which is wrong.These scammers should be getting years in prison & sentences should be harsher especially how many victims there are.

Too put things into perspective, you couldnt ride with Dave unfortunately, my friend , also a Dave, passed away Thursday night from the deadly form of Asbestosis, a few hours after we watched him being administered , thankfully, with some extra Morphine !. We went to say goodbye to him and it was just awful to witness him suffering , so, we must count our blessings.
