Hi Chiangmai Chiangmai, thank you for your comment! I am glad you found the Areca Hotel review useful. I hope you will enjoy Penang for your next trip. Cheers!
Hi ChiangmaiChiangmai, very happy to hear that you are visiting Georgetown, one of my fav Malaysian cities! Of the three, my top choice is Nam Keng - it is older, but I liked the location, quiet yet near enough to good food, and friendly staff members. Second choice is Areca, for the generous room space and newer facilities, and also very conveniently located to the Michelin bib gourmand food places. However, Areca is next to a busy junction, and a mosque, so you will hear the call to prayers over the loud speakers every morning before dawn, and four other times the rest of the day. There’s also a mosque near to Nam Keng, but it is further away (PS: the Iman had a very soothing voice so it was actually quite nice). For Modern Hotel, I would say don’t bother unless you don’t mind dealing with indifferent staff, poorly insulated (warm) rooms and ants crawling about.
@@vonmeetsworld Good morning Von!! Nam Keng is all sold out for the period we planned to visit so I just booked at its sister hotel Yeng Keng on Lbh Chulia ... thanks for your recommendation!
@@chiangmaichiangmai1856 oh yes, Yeng Keng is a nice one. I passed the hotel many times and it looked so nice from the outside! Let me know how it goes? I would like to try Yeng Keng the next time I go Georgetown too!
