Hey Jim, enjoyed the format with the focus on the newest and a look at the evolution. Great seeing all of these in one video. Appreciate you taking the time to give me sometime to drool over. Hopefully one day I'll have the chance to get one of these very special knives for myself. In the mean time your close HD sessions kwell some of the lust. -Thanks
Todd's Steelcraft line brought me back into the hobby of folders. A while back I decided I was really more of a fan of balisongs than any other knife, so I sold my folder collection and only get balis now. However, the full size steelcraft bodega really spoke to me so I got one and it's really impressed the hell out of me. The steelcraft glimpse will be a day 1 purchase for me. Decided on a black g10/carbon fiber with the satin blade and fuller. Can't wait!
I think this is one of those knives that some people wont understand until they get it in hand! I pickt it up last weekend at a knife avent (Bladestock) here in the Netherlands. The fender(shop) also hade the same one but with non fluted blade. If you're interested let me know and I'll pm you the shop.
Yeah thanks for the feedback love the carbon fibre on it , looks so smooth and with the fluted blade just makes it look ever better defo going to get one soon :)
So much pretty I watched this twice! I wonder how much you have contributed to the business over the years to Begg Knives? I know he had the TV show and was a famous maker already, but I do think you have given him a lot of great publicity! And deserved obviously! Do they do a fluted satin blade on the SteelCraft range without the black?
damn I wouldnt know which one to carry thats one hell of a glimpse collection u got there. if it was 1 glimpse you can only keep which one would it be jim??
I believed in your feedback on Todd Begg knifes, I bought : Todd Begg Knives: Custom Glimpse 6.0 - Lightning Strike Inlay - Swedge Grind - 120905. Gorgeous knife with the hardest detent ever can't flip the knife open with one hand to save my life. I just received it tonight and I'm very disappointed. All my ZT's are smooth and perfect right out of the box I expected way better.
Lon Porter Unfortunately Videos live forever. Todd has not been associated with Begg Knives for over two years. Todd is now separate and ONLY makes his full custom knives. I would expect that since his departure things have changed at the California shop where your knife was made.
Thank you for your reply Jim I'm feeling very old I apologize for my ignorance. Whom would you recommend I contact to have this knife corrected. Let me thank you in advance for your time. Lon' @@JimSkeltonKnives
I also have a Glimpse mine is CTS-204P I paid $1000 and it was made in 2017 I have original box and certificate but I would not have paid that if it was B690 steel only because I feel if your paying that much you should get one of the premium steels out there. I use and carry mine everyday since I bought it a little over a year ago and have only sharpened it once. Great knife I wish I could find a Bodega but no luck yet I’ve found a few but they were mystery steel so I passed I want all the paperwork like my Glimpse has. I’m by no means rich but I only buy high end knives it takes me a while to save the money but that makes the knife that much more special to me.
Just ordered a Glimpse 7.0 with "Stabilized" Palm Wood Inlays... CTS 204P, fluted with holes... it was in stock at Begg and should be on it's way soon.. now the agonizing wait begins! BTW, do you have any idea how much $$$ you have cost me over the last few years? A Bodega 2.0 engraved, a Rockested Shin, a Blomerous LL15, etc.... damn you Jim! haha
haha thanks Jim! You know, joking aside your channel here, the awesome knife reviews that you do REALLY ENHANCES my enjoyment of the high end folder hobby. I have come (through experience) trust and value your opinion greatly. Anyway, I just wanted to offer a sincere "thank you" for these reviews and for what you have done and are doing for the knife collector community at large! Keep up the great work Jim! Have a happy 4th! Rexbo
Jim could you please provide a link to the best website to buy a steel craft glimpse I'm genuinely interested in purchasing one but I'm not too familiar with the knive side of the internet.
The Oblivious Acorn it'll be about two more months before the Steelcraft are in stock. But you can go to beggknives.com and see links to all of their dealers.
Nice knife, I'm probably going to buy one, not the zirconium though. I'm not that excited about the material. I'm a machinist, part of what you said about grinding material like titanium wasn't true.... Great review, and beneficial, I'll be buying one because of this great review as long as the company doesn't manufacture anything in china I'm buying. but I do abrasive machine work and have done nothing but that my whole life, I know the material, better then most metallurgist, I'm serious about that. The shit doesn't burn. Titanium has an extremely high melting temp so in the smelting process it can only be melted with ark melters that reach high temps and in the whole process I've never heard of it catching fire. Directly on grinding, no one probably has applied more horse power for stock removal in a grinding application then I have and I've worked with many types of titanium, almost a never ending list of possibilities. I'm not saying anything bad about your review I know how people bellyache a lot thats not what I mean to do. Your review was awesome, just the one detail that might be all I know about Where I screwed up recently, knowing titanium better then most, I bought a bunch of titanium camping cook stuff and spent thousands on it. I just kept buying it, it doesn't work for that, its not conductive material, you can boil water at best. I'm not getting into all of it but I should have known. anyway aluminum is the only way to go if you need light weight and something that will let energy pass. short version there but had to let you know I'm not being critical just sharing ideas here and probably went to far with all that LOL Thanks for the video:)
Mad Scientist idea! if you made a liner lock knife with the liners as thick as a frame locks, then made the scales as thin as regular liners, wouldn't you end up with a lock way stronger than a frame lock or liner lock? The scales would act like a over-travel. Massivley tick Ti liners and thin CFscales.............Just an idea
so what are the begg "midtechs"? are they custom but some of the other work done by people other than Todd. then he does all the finish work? jw cuz they seem like full custom knives
the toxic flipper 29 There are Todd Begg customs (different logo and start at $5k), Todd Begg KNIVES (midtechs) and Steelcraft (production). All three are completely different.
Jim Skelton wow! I didn't know that. I thought he did some of the finish work on them. so they're non Todd begg customs is begg knives lol. like you've said before they are more custom than midtech
Jim Skelton I want one of his midtechs so bad. I've wanted one shortly after I got into knives. I've thought about it a lot. ill get one eventually. I hope. great videos
It's a nice knife but I just could not spend that much money for one the materials makes it so expensive and the design but still even if I had the money I wouldn't buy it I'll stick to my benchmades😂

What a piece of art ! This must be the finest folding knife ever

Just purchased a Glimpse non-fluted 7.o polished satin, carbon fiber G-10 from BladeHQ after your recommendation, Jim! Thanks for the awesome review!
Thanks Jim 👍! Really like this model.
I got the Glimpse, black G10 with carbon fiber inlay and fluted blade. It is just phenomenal!!!
How nice is it , that's the one im trying to get , too bad im from the UK

Reate rocks! Steelcraft Series and the Starboy for example are extreme worth the money.
I have no excuse to get one of those right now so I have to wait until Christmas. I'm crying on the inside
damn I wouldnt know which one to carry thats one hell of a glimpse collection u got there. if it was 1 glimpse you can only keep which one would it be jim??
Beautiful knives! An overkill of class @Jim Skelton.

Jim in the future will we see more fixed blades on your channel?
The more you show Todd Begg's work, the more it grows on me. (I'm afraid. VERY afraid.) I think I still like your red Bodega the best, though.
Damn, zirc frame with star-strike inlay would be balls to the wall.
Can't wait for the realsteel glimpse
Jim. What about the mini glimpse. Can someone do a review of them please.
I can only Buy one a Koenig Knife or
Todd Begg Knives ???? Any thoughts? much appreciated. Brous is a second choice?

Jim, I have 2 of these first production knives. I know they are only $300, but do you think they will appreciate in value down the road?

"Maybe it's a reservoir tip" AHAHAHAHA
I'd love to see the blue one with a framelock.
why so much hate down here
My ex was great at "polishing the flute" 🤣
what does a relief for a lock bar do?
Atwan Johnson allows the lockbar to be bent and act as the lock it is.
Nice reservoir tip 😂
#JimSkelton Good luck trying to find the $300 / $385 ones they sell quicker than a cheesy poof in the hands of Cartman.

Not like a subframe lock
I wanna see a mime show. 🤹🏻♂️
Took a shower, got online and the first thing I see lol
so what are the begg "midtechs"? are they custom but some of the other work done by people other than Todd. then he does all the finish work? jw cuz they seem like full custom knives

Jim Skelton I know that. but what's the difference between a full custom and a midtech? like the midtech Todd just does less of the work?
the toxic flipper 29 Todd doesn't touch the midtech knives at all. He lives here in Dallas now, the midtech are made in California.
Jim Skelton wow! I didn't know that. I thought he did some of the finish work on them. so they're non Todd begg customs is begg knives lol. like you've said before they are more custom than midtech
