@Kittitee Sriraksa science.is not about truth. Science is about finding the most accurate description of natural phenomenon based on th data and knowledge we have. I am still convinced that all religions with their gods are ridiculous. And by the way buddhism is not a religion, it is a common misunderstand. The buddha himself reject the idea of god. The core of buddhism is the teaching that lead to self-realization of truth. If you want to realize the truth, follow his teaching, there is no need to blindly worship any god.

@@infinitemonkey917 Evidence? And what do you think about this argument of mine?
Apostle Paul wrote some angry or at least passionate letters to the Galatians and Corinthians mentioning miracles in them happening among those people. If miracles hadn't happen there, then he would have made himself ridiculous in their eyes - but his purpose was to make them take him seriously. So it is logical that miracles did happen with them and Paul. But if they did why could they not have happened with the other apostles and Jesus, too? And if they did, then why could not be true everything the Gospels describe? Luke, Paul's friend, an eye-wittness wrote about miracles happening with Paul. Was he right then - as real miracles did happen with Paul as we know from his letters? Did Luke tell the truth? But did he still have to lie in connection with Jesus? This would not be logical. Paul's letters are authentic and realistic. And from them a few logical steps lead to the accounts of the Gospels about Jesus being true.

The view of religions is different - with Buddhism clearly it is said to be a Teacher faith
In life one meets many Teachers, not one
      The goal is Enlightenment, Knowledge
Hinduism gets ignored because of the dark skin of its followers but clearly the Hindu Gods are our Teachers
We welcomed the Buddha as one of our Teachers
In any other land, the Buddha would have been branded a heretic, an apostate and been burnt to death, same as Giordano Bruno
The top two - that is the sad part - are Master/Slave religions
The goal is eternal pleasures of the flesh
Every time I ask theists to describe a day in Heaven, what does one DO there, they run away
Master will GIVE those pleasures of the flesh, they cannot be earned
Therefore, we must beg & grovel to the Master and no other
Amazing how religions using cheap promises of the easy good life can turn bright educated people into their slaves blindly serving religion

This really brings us some answers, as it shows that only 1 or none of the religions practiced in the world can be really true. Most likely, none of them are true, at least not literally.
The last guest speaker summarized it well: it all depends what you are looking for, spiritual fulfillment or objective truth. It looks like most religious people are really looking for spiritual fulfillment, while rational people are looking for objective truth. In that sense, science and religion serve different purposes.

Very interesting question. My religion, spiritism, does teach that all religions are right in a way, and that their different explanations exist to fullfil the need of each group of humans on Earth, like how schools teach the same subject over the course of many years but always deepening the student's understanding, appropriately for their age. Spiritism believes that we are immortal spirits, in different stages of evolution, that's why we need many explanations, to fulfill our needs in our evolutionary stages. Jesus even mentions it when questioned about marriage, where Moses said divorce their wives under certain circumstances, Jesus said they shouldn't, and told that Moses thought them that way because their hearts were too brute, and those that could marry without divorcing should do so. My spiritist branch is universalist, stimulating the study of other religions and beliefs in order to see the truth behind the dogmas and rituals, to see the universal truth through the many perspectives the world has to offer, and always thinking on what fits us best, what can be helpful on our lives, what can we take from another religion that really matters. Spiritism in general teach us to think rationally about our faith, because no one can be followed blindly, not even the spirits, as they're humans like us.

As an atheist myself I don't think atheism means rejection of everything taught by all the world's various religions. It also doesn't mean rejection of believers, or even thinking of myself as "better than" believers. However, if a Christian (for example) thinks I'm going to Hell, that's a problem. What I'd like believers to understand is that, in effect, they all belong to exclusive clubs. They'll say it isn't true -- that anyone can become a Christian, or a Muslim, or whatever, but I'd be an imposter in any of these religions because they all require me to believe at least one thing that I'm simply not capable of believing. If I claimed to believe I'd just be lying (and an all-seeing God would surely know that).

You misunderstand - these religions made God in the image of the master of the past - the King/Dictator - back in the day that was life
If you wanted to live in the King's country, you have to swear loyalty(belief) otherwise no King would allow you to live in his kingdom
Think Putin, Saddam - you are in Russia - you think you can speak out against Putin?
      That's the sad thing here
In the 21st century, the top religions are Communist Dictator-style religions

I believe you have to look deeply within, clear the mind, forget anything you were taught as a child, then take a deep breath and apply logic.
Logically religions contradict themselves, plus there are some strong disciplines and acts within many religions which go far beyond any moral values. Would I follow a judgemental god, the answer is 'no', would I follow a god that allows cruelty and suffering in the young and innocent, then again the answer is 'no'. Can I believe a mythical figure high up in the sky that created everything, sees everything and has a 'plan', then again the answer is no. I don't have a belief, I have logic and values and for me they keep me rooted deeply in reality.

Hello - As long as one believes, that is the essence of all religions, which come in regular periods of every 2160 years. Each one introduces a fresh facet of human evolution, the Christian for instance - introspection/meditation (prayer). Look at the Mona Lisa. Why is she enigmatic? Because she is engaged in the interior life. She is a thinking being with a secret that she is withholding from us. All religions are as pearls on the golden thread of truth. Lord Krishna states: ``When religiosity declines, I descend Myself on all the worlds of the Universe.'' There is liberation and final ascension for all. The time this will take is known only to the highest Initiates. The figure has an astonishing number of zeros added on the end. Enough said. Blessings - RevDrD

In medieval times in Rome, the Pope, influenced by some conservative advisers, decided to expel all Jews from the city
The Pope, not wanting to seem as forcing his decision on the Jews, allowed a debate to be held so the Jews could defend their citizenship.
That night, the Jewish Rabbis gathered in the synagogue to decide who will debate against the Pope. However none of the Rabbis wanted to debate against him, so they started arguing. The synagogue janitor, who was attracted to the commotion, volunteered to oppose the Pope.
"You are just a janitor, how could you possibly win in a debate against the pope?" said the chief Rabbi. But since nobody else was brave enough to volunteer, the janitor was chosen.
On the day of the debate, the Pope walked onto the stage with his advisers, all dressed in white and wearing golden crosses. The janitor also walked onto the stage, surrounded by the oldest Rabbi with their long beards and black garments. The debate began.
The Pope immediately pointed at the janitor and then at the sky. Without hesitation, the janitor pointed at the ground beneath his feet. The Pope then pointed at the janitor with his finger, and the janitor responded by pointing three fingers at the Pope. Next, the pope took out an apple from his pocket and held it in the air. The janitor reached into a paper bag at his waist, and took out a flatbread. The Pope looked surprised, and announced that they would not expel the Jews.
Back at the cathedral, the Pope's advisers asked the Pope,"Father, the exchange during the debate was too difficult for us to follow, please explain what happened."
The Pope replied: "I first pointed at the heavens and the earth, indicating God's marvelous creations. But the Jew pointed at the ground, telling me that hell exist too. I then pointed at him with one finger, telling him that only one God exists. But the Jew countered that by pointing three fingers at me, acknowledging the holy trinity. I then abandoned theology for science, and held out an apple, showing how people think the earth is round even though the scriptures state the earth to be flat. The Jew held out a flatbread, acknowledging that the earth is flat as the scriptures teach. I could not find fault with his argument so I withdrew."
In the synagogue, the janitor also had to explain what happened during the debate.
"So he points at me as if to tell me to get out, but I want to stay right here, so I point at the ground. He then points one finger at me to curse me to death, so I point three fingers at him to curse him three times. Then he brings out his lunch, so I bring out mine

My feeling is that I'm completely uninterested in what any of the religions claim, no matter how beautiful and lovely they are, until there's a reason to believe any of what they're claiming is true. Physics is proof that reality is inherently paradoxical. Truth in Physics only exists where you can predict the outcome of an experiment. Dropping a ball will end in it falling to the ground... True. The paradox is that even though we know the outcome of the experiment. We actually don't know if the ball falls to the ground or if it the ground rushes up to the ball. In reality it is this weird superposition state of being both and neither at the same, but what makes the most sense to our brains is simply imagining that the Earth has "Gravity" and attracts smaller objects, when really that is the simplest way to think about it and not the full story. An object in free fall from its own perspective is actually totally weightless and floating. There are so many things in physics that immediately twists your brain into knot where truth is actually impossible and if you really want to understand you have to just let it go. How long is a second of time? such a simple question that is easily answered with a watch, but if you really think about it you realize that the thing we call a second of time is actually completely intangible and impossible to represent in any way that isn't arbitrary to reality in some way there fore that second of time doesn't actually exist and sure enough Our system for measuring time is an abstraction that represents information about reality while itself being a manifestation. I think if your look to physics for Objective truth about the world you need to learn about physics more because, the key isn't fitting the lock here.

Yes. But perhaps you have read about the anthropic principle.

If one, or more, of the religions happened also to be true, that wouldn't mean that people in other parts of the world who were followers of other religions had been somehow cheated of an entitlement. In contrast to their apologetics for attitudes of religious exclusivism, however, how about the moderate fideism of William James: “It may be that possibility and permission are all that religious consciousness requires to live upon” ?

Couldn’t find any female scholars to interview? This omission, for whatever reason, appears to be a very common and real shortcoming of this channel’s.

Seeing intelligent people defend religion is just saddening. The reason why rational people think religions are hollow teachings isn't because religions defend incompatible dogmas, as suggested in the introduction, it's because they're dogmatic! Systems of belief based on dogma and faith are the enemies of reason, philosophy, curiosity, openness to evidence and all other intellectual virtues. Taking ridiculous claims, such as the existence of miracles like resurrection, seriously is to betray the philosophical commitment to judging any statement by its own merit, instead giving in to the dangerous human tendency to judge a statement by who is saying it or how many believe it.

In general, human beings are a pretty narcissistic lot. So we naturally believe that our worldview/belief system is the one that is true. It doesn't matter if you're an adherent of a religious belief system, a materialist belief system, or what have you. It's the same thing for most of us.

Well, talking about respect, this is the most important message here not to impose ones's belief or non-belief upon others. And why would any religion even be necessary? The quest for God may find ways without. And without quest, there is no religion anyway, even if going to a temple, church, mosque, to an ashram or elsewhere.

As a Christian, I am embarrassed by the arrogance of the Christian speakers. While I applaud this video, I worry because it seems generally to focus on belief, which is a category of thought developed by Western Enlightenment thinking (implicit in the remarks by the Muslim scholar) and distorts a fuller apprehension of the search for the sacred.

You do not need religion, much less organized religion, to believe in God.

The problem is: the Truth doesn't "explain" much.
Because we have to "understand" the problem (von Wright).
The notion Truth depends on a hidden system (the choosen/used language/ Weltbild).
Your distinction between "many" truth and "the" universal truth is very importent.
    The answer is clear.
Unless Quantum Physics gives us the latest or last? answer.

I would like to think you address the basic question regarding the video caption in the video, I hate click bait so wont enjoy this one from the beginning. If all can be true, then equally all can be untrue and a pure Athiestic view is then true. With the enormous amount of variables needed to make just one true it is more likely that all are untrue.
