@@victorfernandes7521 if you pay attention in basic grammar, 'they' is indeed used for a singular person. if the person doesn't use any other pronouns, or their pronouns are unknown. i mean, if you're describing someone you know nothing about, how would you use pronouns then?
I was only introduced to Nemo through Eurovision but I still cried when they won. They seem so kind and sweet, I can't wait to see what they do next 🎉

Plus it's the first time Switzerland wins since 1988. So I'm glad to see countries that have never won or haven't won in a very long time to make it.
Fun fact: the very next year, in the last contest hosted by Switzerland, Yugoslavia won with a Croat representative. Maybe it's Croatia's time soon?

@@sgru9558 Well, English must not be your native language, otherwise you would know that THEY/THEM is long established singular form in two cases: when we don't know gender of a person or if that gender is irrelevant. Non-binary people adopted that pronoun basen on it's grammatically correct second meaning. I hope that helps. If no, we'll, addressing people the way the ask to be addressed is just a simple human kindness, doesn't hurt to try it sometime 😊

Первый раз смотрел Евровидение в прямом эфире, по нашему времени это до 3 40 утра, ни разу не пожалел. Ещё до финала посмотрел всех номинантов и выбрал Швейцарию, Швецию и Германию. Очень понравился клип Nemo, но оказалось, что на сцене это выглядит ещё лучше, самый искренний, целеустремлённый и талантливый участник этого Евровидения. Обидно, что парни из Швеции заняли такое низкое место. Отдельное спасибо тебе за видео, буду благодарен, если сделаешь ещё про другие команды, это интересно!

Тоже смотрела полночи и не пожалела нисколько. Удивительное дело, но первый раз за все время, что я смотрю Евровидение, мне действительно очень понравились и исполнитель, и песня. Как зацепило с первых же нот, так и не отпускает до сих пор)) Немо потрясающий талант!

I was supporting Croatia and Ukraine. Israel wasn't one of my favorites but I think she did it well and she never seemed arrogant or similar to me. I think she received a lot of unnecessary hate, and the arrogance you mention was just character and determination to do her best, against everything. I think is admirable because I would have cried and run away from there. Everyone did an excellent job.

One they or many theys?
I totally get that they doesn't want to be called he or she. But I find 'they/them' just a bit confusing, because it normally means multiple people.
So I just think: 'Why not create a new word that doesn't mean woman or man and isn't meant for multiple people.'.
They/Them doesn't have to be multiple people in English. We’ve always used they/them for singular especially on a person we didn’t know. “Oh no, someone left their umbrella behind. I hope they come back for it.
If a person were ro think about that for a minute, *they* might realize that "they" has always been used as a neutral pronoun for a single person as well as for several people.
Now, there are languages where a neutral pronoun for one person doesn't really exist and it's therefore unwieldy and odd to try and use one, but the English language had this one at habd already, so no need to change it/find a new one.
No it doesn't though. Idk if English is your first language, but according to the English grammar “they/them” can be used as a singular when the person's gender isn't known. That's why it actually works out really well in the case of nonbinary people, since they don't identify as either of the binary genders. Say for example that you find a wallet on the ground and don't know whose it is. You don't know what pronouns the owner goes by, so you would have to say “someone's left THEIR wallet on the ground”. The same applies for any instance where the person's gender/pronouns are unknown. (This comment isn't meant to be rude btw, I just wanted to explain how it works and why nonbinary people often use they/them as their pronouns.)
In french we have "iel" it's il (he) + elle (she) !
It just takes some getting used to, if you see it enough times it no longer feels weird. It's kind of like seeing slang words for the first time, they feel weird and don't make sense at first glance, but when you hear them a few times it clicks and you get used to them. If you know another language just think about a concept you originally couldn't grasp but know now, I found that incredibly helpful in understanding they/them pronouns
