Domo arigatou gozai mashi ta. Thank you very much for this excellent review of Dumble amplifiers. Thank you, also, to Mr. Hideto Tommaiji-san for providing the amplifiers for your excellent review.
I can't think of another MV amp that preserve's the guitar's basic character when switching into overdrive. Most MV amps I've had the distinct displeasure to hear have that fizzy "wasp in a pop can" thing, - even many of Dumble's imitators. Great job demoing these beauties. I especially liked the '90s EL34 equipped model.
Awesome sounds! There is only ONE amp that stands up to late 70s Dumble sound, German Kitty Hawk Standard, early run to serial 25 based on authentic Dumble spare parts, sounds 1:1 to this Dumble Reverb, consider also well broken-in 200W EV speakers ; ) Compression is absolutely outstandig, you get that sought after Dumble squish. Get one until prices will soar.
Lampy we wzmacniaczu zamontowane do góry nogami .
It isn't exactly a snake oil thing, cause these weren't sold for extraordinary prices, as far as I know. Around $2.000 in the late 80s, early 90s was an expensive amp but not insanely, I guess.
@@DerEchteBold From what I understand, it was pretty ridiculously expensive, BUT the main element that propelled Dumble to fame was that he pretty much exclusively sold to guitar-playing celebrities, not just regular guitarists. He'd only sell his amps to people who ALREADY had great tone, so naturally they'd be able to have great tone with one of his amps. So a little bit of snake oil, but honestly all he was manufacturing was fame - I doubt he intended people to think that Dumbles are SINGULARLY THE BEST AMPS ON THE PLANEEET WITH NO EXCEPTIONS! The snake oil claims come from people who have (insanely) spent over $100,000 on an old dusty ass amp. You'd be better off buying the $6,000 or so exact clones/made to your specs models from some fancy modern companies.
@@Diax1324 Well no, like I said the amps weren't ridiculously expensive at all and he wasn't only selling to celebrities but mostly to professionals because you had to provide him with recordings of your own and he'd decide on the base of that. Look up the videos from Peter Lerche, he actually got one made for around $2000 in the late 80s or so.
@@DerEchteBold Dude, $2000 in the 80s was close to $4000 today. Thats a seriously expensive amp. He did also selectively sell to celebrities and people in positions conducive to fame or closely connected to it.
@@Diax1324 Yes, expensive of course, it's professional equipment but nothing compared to that ridiculous Dumble market today. Have you looked up the story of the person I mentioned?
Anyone else notice that every Dumble demo ever sounds like total shit, yet everyone thinks they have some sort of magic tone? Robben Ford through one sounds great. Nobody sets those amps right for their playing. I think people think they are mesa boogies or some other amp with an overdrive channel. They’re more of an amp with a threshold and they react to dynamics. Not necessarily an amp with a clean and distortion setting. Does anyone else notice this? Or am i the only one?
No - you're correct. Also, only about 1% of people have the touch on guitar to make these amps sound good. The other 99% make them sound mediocre at best, unfortunately.
I wish there were English subtitles. I'm sure would have learned a lot from the guy.
1:52 10:39 1970’s model
5:08 11:46 1980’s model
7:26 12:47 1990’s model
Didnt understand a word but stayed for the tone. Superb playing.

Very nice! Wish there was sub-titles. I'm also very curious about the pickups, sure sound awesome!
Excellent demo video and playing. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you for the demonstration of these classics!

I liked the tone of the 70s model, but I agree that the 90s model was most handsome. :)

3 of the greatest amps in the world, n more playin! :)
Great demo! Which speakers are used?
2022.01.18 Alexander "Howard" Dumble
I scenced that Arion Tuburator was dumble copy !!!!
Dumble amps are really expensive now...Orz
Great tone and playing!
RIP
Alexander "Howard" Dumble
Wonderful !!! 🙏
Tasty tone!
loaded with JJ and still sounds good, tho it's such a shame!

Price?
Sound Engineer about $100k
Sound Engineer Nearly unobtanium. 130k today for a mint one. Just found one today for sale.
Is the 80's skyliner or classic. Is the 90's skyliner or bluesmaster
If someone could truly replicate Alexander Dumbles Amplifiers, they’d be beyond wealthy.
That's missing the point, and not considering the law of diminishing returns.
I wish I could speak japanese :'(

The Les Paul needed its tone knobs turned up. What a waste of the beautiful treble frequencies in the amp.
They sound nice but they look cheesy. Since I'll never have the $100K to buy one, not sure if I would.
Domo Origato Mr.Roboto? There I said it.
Is this Korean?
